S7 Edge - MetroPCs - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answer

I know Metro PCS and Tmoble are the same network. I was wondering if I could buy my phone outright at TMobile and just use my Metro PCS account. Also if I do this, would I still receive updates?

Why

Sorry because Metro PCS will not have the Edge version.

Yes and most probably yes on the update side. Just make sure u get the proper apn for metro pcs, if u can add apns that is....

Is there any way to force roaming on Windows Mobile

I have a T-Mobile HD2, but T-mobile doesnt workin at my workplace. AT&T works so I was wonderning if I could force a roam. I've tried to manually connect to the network, but network registration fails. Anybody know anything?
Roaming is for countries other than your home country... no operator that I know of lets you roam to their competitors' networks... (apart from operators that own no physical network and have agreements to use other carriers' networks, in which case you can benefit from all... but that's rare).
But...
That is exactly the case with T-Mobile and AT&T. I got to school in Denmark, SC in the country. There I can roam on AT&T cuz theres no T-Mobile tower. When I got home its back to T-Mobile. The only thing I could say is that the roaming could be region or area specific. Could that be the case?
I guess the best way to know is to call TMO and ask...
I roam on AT&T just fine up here (Mendocino County in Northwestern California) in dead spots, and that's in-market where there are also T-Mobile sites. We're a former Edge Wireless market (AT&T Affiliate, taken over by AT&T in April of 2008), and all former Edge Wireless markets have this, we get to use AT&T and T-Mobile's network, I can force (instead of letting it automatically roam over) it to roam on AT&T if I want as well.

Questions

I bought new unlocked and unbranded gt540 fron a LG dealer.
I put in a tmobile sim, but I can't figure out how to setup the internet access. LG says tmobile will prgram that part. tmobile says they only can do phones made for them by LG. so I have to hire a tech or do it myself. How do I gdt into program mode to set all this up?

APN
You probably have to set up an APN. Here in NZ, I could do 'google.com' as an APN and I will just get internet access. Not sure if it's available anywhere else.
got it. yep, it's the apn setup in the usa too.

SM-G900i use with AT&T

Hello all, i have a question regarding an Australian Telstra Galaxy S5 with att service. the phone works with voice and text but has no data or mms. i have added an apn from my sim card in a galaxy nexus that gets me edge service. i have found band selection in the service menu but non seem to make it any better. I'm sure LTE won't work but thats ok. as long as i can get 3g at least. do i need to flash say the att s5 modems? if so how? i have the modem file and another already extracted from the att firmware. thanks in advance.

Using a foreign handset on a system will never give you perfect coverage. That is by design, as both Samsung and carriers want to lock you in, not make it easy for you to change carriers. Or do so without buying a new phone.
The specs for your variant suggest that it has full coverage on ATT's 3G bands and partial coverage of their LTE allocations. You don't need an ATT modem, just make sure that your firmware is recent - which it will be by definition, as the S5 was only released a few months ago.
Unfortunately you didn't provide much detail, in particular whether you were roaming or a regular ATT customer. Things that you might check in general, that your phone doesn't blacklist any ATT MCCs (roaming restrictions). That you have the correct APN information and that your ATT SIM is properly provisioned for LTE.
.
Thanks for the reply. I figured it out. In service menu, I was picking compatible gsm bands. Back to network screen in settings, had it on gsm/lte only. That was giving me edge. Read more into wcdma and used network mode wcdma/gsm. That gives me H or H+. I know I won't get lte but with that network mode and another apn, I'm satisfied with the end results.
It sounds like you inadvertently blocked coverage with your previous settings. The default setting is automatic band select which should have worked fine.
Glad you figured it out in the end.
.
Yeah. It was the apn that was hurting me. Default it used the wap.cingular apn. I put my sim in a galaxy nexus and used the apn that gave me. Plus changing network mode. Thanks though!

How to use on MetroPCS network

I've read through the forums and see that it's possible to use the Verizon note 3 on tmobile network. I want to use mine on the MetroPCS network. My question was is has anyone switched theres from Verizon to metro pcs and if so what are the steps involved?

Answer + another question
Hey there. I'm going to try and answer your question and then ask another related question.
I recently bought a 900v from eBay with the intention of using it on MetroPCS and then in Europe after a few months when I move. I'm currently using an international Note II on MetroPCS which works fine.
To answer: In theory, as far as I know, all you need to do to get your Verizon Note 3 to work on MetroPCS is get a plan and SIM card from them (they will need to register your phone's IMEI to the SIM card since they lock individual SIM cards to individual phones). After this, go to Settings > More networks > Mobile networks and change preferred to 'global'. You will also need to input the proper network name and APN (Settings > More networks > Mobile networks > Access Point Names). From here it should work.
Ok, now my question for whoever might know something about it. Since I bought my Note 3, I went to a MetroPCS store and had them change the registration from my old phone's IMEI to the Note 3. They did that, we switched the SIM and did what I wrote above and voice and text worked, but no data. The guy working there didn't know what to do, so I decided to have him just switch it back to my Note II and I'd take it to the better resourced 'corporate' store later.
In the meanwhile, I rooted and did what I needed to flash JasmineRom 2.4.1. Went fine and everything seemed to work fine. Then I took it to the corporate store. They tested it with a tester SIM first (not locked to a particular device) but couldn't get it to connect to a network and then the same with my SIM (which had worked before at least for voice). I just get the notification: "Phone Activation - This SIM card is from an unknown source."
Does anyone know if the phone has to first be somehow Activated with Verizon before I can change it to global and use other GSM networks? If so, how would I go about doing that as I'm not on Verizon, nor have I ever been. I have a friend who uses Verizon who might be able to help me activate it if really necessary, but if there's another way, do please let me know. If this problem has nothing to do with activation, and there's something else going on, I'm all ears as well. Thanks.
Problem solved for MetroPCS connection.
Just wanted to update that my problem was solved with no more trouble than calling MetroPCS (888 8METRO8) to have them register my old MetroPCS SIM card to my new device (Verizon Note 3). I had already played around with GSM and global modes and had manually input the APN and network name prior to calling. I had also tried to activate using *228 but that didn't seem to work... not sure if that is important but it was something I had done (with the MetroPCS card before calling).
To the OP: did you get yours working?
Edit: I suppose it is also worth mentioning that I didn't have to change any settings and I'm getting 4G LTE on MetroPCS.
So to confirm, it is possible to connect the Verizon note 3 to METROPCS network and get 4G LTE SERVICE. Will I need to adjust APN settings through the phone? Do I have to use a separate program to change those settings?
I'm going today to try to set this up. Thanks for the responses.

Ok everyone I have a question in reguards to using a Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 3 with Metro PCS. I've been getting the run around from Verizon and Metro. What I've done so far is got Metro PCS to type the Note 3's IMEI number in their computer to activate the phone (like they do with every phone). I put the SIM card in the Note 3, and it said something like "SIM card is from an unknown source" (it's not reading the SIM). The phone wouldn't work. No service despite them activating the Note 3 on my account. They told me to go to metro store, so I did and we tried a new SIM card and everything and it still didnt read it. I keep seeing people say we need to change the APN, but what are we specifically supposed to write in the APN box? Also, I see people saying metro has to do something with the SIM card, what exactly do they have to do? Can someone please help, and please give me the exact steps as to what I have to do to get my Note 3 activated and working with MetroPCS. I havent had a phone to use in days because of this bullcrap please help!

SM-935U doesn't work woht Verizom mvno

I have a SM-935 U device and have been using on the AT&T network. I recently switched to Verizon MVNO (US Mobile). The phone doesn't get registered on the Verizon network. I bought the unlocked S7 edge from best buy thinking that it will work on all carriers. Any help will be appreciated.
The SM-935U do work on all carriers. I have a SM-935V with U firmware on it. I'm with a Verizon MVNO named Total Wireless. Sounds like the phone you go from Best Buy is stilled registered under AT&T...
Not getting registered to Verizon network
When I check the IMEI of my phone against the Verizon compatibility check using their web site, it is fully compatible. The issue is that phone is not getting registered to the Verizon network. I think Verizon is blocking it some how and the MVNO is not able to help me to resolve this.
You ever figure out a solution out to this?

The LTE should work fine, but youll have to set the APN correctly, otherwise it wont get any data, for the CDMA portion youll have to submit the ESN to Verizon to add your ESN IMEI to their database.
