So my first 6P worked fine, but had a small tear in the Display without me dropping it. Now I received a new device with intact screen, but the screen shows some weird flickering from time to time. I can't pin down the cause, but I realized the flickering when scrolling through the device settings, when setting the alarm in AlarmDroid, sometimes when using the keyboard and in some games. Also, the google keyboard sometimes stops reacting and hangs up and when i changed the screen brightness, the phone switched randomly to the lockscreen.
I already tried booting the phone in safe mode. Here I get an error "Google play services has stopped". I already tried updating the play services, but the problem persists.
Are these hardware related problems? I already tried a factory reset, but the problems persist. Is anyone else experiencing similar problems and worked out a fix?
Are you completely stock?
Yes, I am completely stock. I copied the apps/data from the old phone via wifi.

The flickering could be a hardware problem. You could try starting completely fresh by performing another factory reset and flashing the factory images, but that would mean having to unlock your bootloader. I'd probably just get it replaced.

My VS980 for the third time now randomly started lagging and hanging. By that I mean the main watch on accuweather hangs, sending text messages and downloading hangs, and just switching through home screens and app list the screen freezes and then unfreezes. Apps barely boot and social, calendar widgets do not update, and typing freezes after every word for about 3 seconds. Restart and safe mode do not fix this problem. The previous 2 times I did a hard reset but it seems to only fix the issue for about 5-7 days, but those are annoying, so is there any other solutions or anyone aware of this such type problem?
Is there some certain program you keep re-installing that could be causing issues? Have you tried any custom roms?

Definitely sounds like a rogue program running in the background. My advice is for you to do a hard reset, then install apps one at a time (run it, of course), and find out which program is causing an issue. An alternative is that you google each app to see if others using the same apps have issues.
I got this phone recently from insurance, could it be something in Kernel issue or something else? I did another hard reset, I'll look out for any apps, but it happened randomly without any downloads or installs. I have no custom roms, and I only have news apps and 3 games from EA.
Question - Could this possibly be spawned by originally having rooting problems? The phone was sort of frozen on my first root attempt for some unknown reasons, the command box suddenly froze and the android icon was frozen, I had to restart my phone and attempt root again even though the previous root attempt started and was cut off, and the first time the lag issue happened was the next day. Do you think I should try un-rooting and re-rooting my phone? Or is that irrelevant.
Past oomberr
Are you running any custom roms, kernel, mods? Recovery installed?
Possibly a modem problem
I had this problem on my G2, and changing my modem seemed to fix it. I was using EUR KK modem even though I'm in the Middle East. Try changing to your region specific modem and then it can fix it, a dalvik/normal cache wipe can help. If all fails then try wiping, or switching roms.
HI Everyone
I've been having problems with the device within a few hours of getting it. I should have returned it to the store within the first 30 days but due to having all my apps installed and suspecting it was a software issue that would be resolved in a software update, I persisted with it.
The symptoms are that the device randomly locks up and is completely unresponsive and can't be unlocked. The only thing to do is press all four buttons and reboot it. When it locks up, the AOD is visible but the time has stopped. When I call the S7 from another handset, it does nothing and on the other handset I get a network message saying that I'm not available. Sometimes it seems to snap out of after 10 minutes, and other times I can leave it for hours and it doesn't change until I force it to reboot.
I've tried a factory reset and not installing any apps at all, everything stock except adding my Google account and connecting it to Wifi. No customisation, I've not changed the wallpaper, ringtones, nothing. But the issue persists.
Its been back to the store for a signal test due the issue being logged incorrectly as a signal issue. It passed the signal test and has had the latest firmware installed but the problem happened again today. I left the device for over an hour whilst I driving and then forced it to restart.
Has anyone else experienced a similar issue?
Like the title says I have an essential ph1 that constantly is rebooting itself I'm guessing it's a soft reboot because the screen gets bright freezes up and then boots to the lock screen does all this within 5 seconds but it treats the phone as it's been rebooted it's happening multiple times a day. Anyone else had this issue? I'm running Android pie. I have insurance but I'm afraid to make a claim because I've heard that the phone is out of stock everywhere and the value that they will give me is like $240 I like the phone.

Are you on a ROM? Kernel?
I ran into this issue with my OG Pixel. I found out the issue was I disabled some google apps. I re-enabled them all and the reboots stopped. Make sure Google Drive, Google Movies, Google Music, etc are not disabled.

Umm... That makes no sense...
But if it works for you...
I'm having this exact same issue for around 2-3 weeks now. I'm on stock, done multiple factory resets, and the issue continues.
This is not a new issue for me but only just thought about posting about it.
Often when I reboot the phone, the always on display does not start when the screen is turned off, even though it is still enabled in settings. I often have to reboot the phone several times to get the feature to start working.
Not only that, recently I've been having random full system ui crashes, forcing me to reboot which usually triggers the previously mentioned issue.
I'm using substratum and LG package disabler and it might be one of those that's causing the issue.
Just wondering if anyone is having the same issue and how it can be fixed, preferably without a factory reset because I recently had to do that due to another issue.
Thanks.
This is really starting to get on my nerves now. Ever since I got my new S10+ from AT&T, it's occasionally done this thing where after I reboot the phone, I unlock it, and it briefly says "starting phone" on the home screen, and then will mysteriously do a quick reset, where it skips the AT&T logo and jingle, and just shows the Samsung splash screen , then takes me back to the lockscreen and it's usually fine after that.
However, Just now I decided to reset my phone, like one should do periodically, and it did the strange double reset after unlocking... Then when I unlocked it, after the "starting phone" message I tried to open a browser, and BAM! Quick reset again! Unlocked, let it start up, tried to open an app, BAM quick reset again after the screen briefly shifted from landscape to portrait mode (even though I was still holding it long ways in landscape position). Its never done this before and I'm getting concerned. It's never randomly reset while using the phone, this only happens right after a reset.
Any ideas? I've already tried wiping partition cache after big updates, doing soft resets. I'm worried that I'm going to have to end up resorting to a factory wipe, as others suggested I do when I was having battery drain issues on the ASD3 firmware, possibly because of restoring everything from a backup of my last phone when I got this one. Because supposedly restoring from backups from AT&T, Google or Samsung has caused all sorts of problems for people. I really don't want go wipe everything and spend hours try to get it all back on here manually if i don't have to.

Dang... So it does appear to be an issue experienced on both Exynos and Snapdragon variants. I wonder if there is or will be a fix for this. I've been asking around and haven't gotten many responses about this problem at all. I'm concerned because it seems to be getting worse than when I first got the phone.
I'm having the exact same problem. Sometimes it goes through quick reset, full reset, a couple more quick, then back to the Verizon logo, then starts up. Opening an app at that point usually does another quick, then full, then everything works. Glad I'm not the only one, but I haven't found any solutions either.

Mine does the same. Unlocked bought directly from Samsung. I don't reboot the phone very often so it doesn't bother me that much.
