I really liked the dialer on my Nexus 6, where when you would touch the phone symbol, my recent contacts would show up in tiles with their photos. It also worked the same way with my Droid Turbo 2. If I use the Google Now launcher on my S7 edge will I have the same result? Thanks.

It fails to install the Google dialer apk, any tips or is this only possible if the phone is rooted?

I was able to install this version of Google Phone (Google Phone 2.05.07_rc4) onto my VZ S7 edge and it works without any issues. you can get it from apkmirror.

Hi.. I am looking to install google now launcher on my AT&T Galaxy S5.. I was just wondering will there any issues with using the launcher and Google Now.. I am big fan of them both. Also when Google updates either of these, will i be able to update in Play Store?? I am asking this because I am side loading the launcher. Response is appreciated.
I tried to but can't, maybe change to Nexus 5 in build.prop.
For now you will have to side load any update to that app until Google makes it available for non nexus devices. As you probably already know sideloading works perfectly fine
Hi,
I have recently installed Kybui Rom running 5.1.1 lollipop on my note 4 N10F variant. Everything works great except google now. There isn't any options for ok google anywhere only ok google in app. Its not like they're greyed out either they're completely missing from the app completely. I've tried disabling S-voice, downgrading the google app but nothing gets it working at all.
I seem to be the only person having this issue which is even more frustrating though have read about it happening on S6 devices but can't seem to find a solution. Does anyone know how I can get this back? I know I can use nova launcher and there's open mic+ to do it but nova only works on homescreen and open mic is dodgy when veiwing videos last time I used that app so just want it working natively again.
I've upgraded from a nexus 6 to the galaxy s8+. I did not realize how much I took the google phone app forsaken its functionality phone calls Id's voicemail built into the app. Samsung's phone app is bare bones in comparison while I've tried installing the google phone apk it does not work, unfortunately. Does anyone know of a similar app that they would recommend?
I use Google phone app on my S8. I sideloaded it by installing apk file.

This version is working for me.
Google Phone 7.0.140861421-nonnexus
Google Contacts 1.6.20
Here's the newest version, and you can get the newest contacts app from apkmirror. https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-google-dialer-t3557412
I managed to install this version on my G8 Plus Google Phone 7.0.140861421-nonnexus and it is working. When I tried to installed anything from version 8 and up I get an alert that the app is not compatible. How can I install the latest version?
At one point the Google search box on my home screen was customizable. Then the speaker on my phone started buzzing, I did a warranty swap, and now it's not customizable. Both phones were 100% stock Moto g5 plus 64gb xt1687. I am enrolled in the Google app beta program. Both phones have the same version # of the Google app. I've factory reset the phone numerous times and started fresh with no luck. Has anyone gotten the customizable search box, does anyone know how to get it back? Any help would be very appreciated.

You can't get it back. I had it on my old phone, now I don't have it. Google rolls out things randomly and it's up to them to roll it out to your device.
Another reason to use Nova launcher ?
Does the Nova launcher have the right swipe to Google now on the home screen?

you can download this app
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/teslacoil-software/nova-google-companion/
for that
Yes it does support right swipe for Google, plus many more goodies to keep it the number 1 launcher recommended by reviews, been using for a few years now and they have introduced new features really quickly, so even if a android new version has a specific function, they bring it to older version of OS within launcher settings.
Hello.
I have a Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) and I use the Google Now Launcher. I rely on having the google app to the left of the main home screen for notifications about traffic, weather and news. I like having it there a lot. Today I noticed that it was no longer accessible from there.
I looked this up and it sounds like Google plan to discontinue the Google Now Launcher and replace it with the "Pixel Launcher". But naturally, my device is not supported by this new app.
I downloaded and installed this, and it seems like the Pixel Launcher (or something similar to it, nearly identical) works on my device now. It was very convenient to have because I do not want to Root my phone.
At first the side-panel Google app worked with this (bootleg?) Pixel Launcher, but after I was done customizing my home screens it stopped working. I checked all the options like "Google app to the left of main screen" and such things, and they didn't change anything. It only started working again when I re-booted the phone.
My question is: what made it stop? Can I still get the Google side-panel to open on the original Now launcher (with which I am more used)? I like the Pixel launcher but I prefer to use officially-supported apps so I can get updates for them, and I don't believe the one I downloaded (from the link above) will get any updates.
Any help would be appreciated.
Just downgrade to the old Google Now Launcher
