cell standby kills my z5 battery like a monstar i can't even get 4 hour in SOT. any solution? :crying:
Do you have LTE enabled? Switch to 3G until marshmallow arrives.
If the 4G coverage in your area isn't that good, it will drain battery heavily to search the signal and switch back and forth between base stations.
BTW, cell standby and SOT are two complete different things.. Just so u know.
There is no real solution. I have similar issues on my Z5. I just use 3G and am going to wait for MM update to be released and hope that will fix it.
I think it is a known bug on Lollipop.

Here are some other tips for you :
-Make sure that you have the latest updates for your phone and camera app
-Try killing background apps and using recent apps cleaning apps
- try adjusting stamina mode for battery less than 80 % it is enough to give a good battery life
My z5 sleeps like a baby 0% battery drain during night , when using the phone and playing music i got like 1% drain every 15-20 minutes

You're absolutely right but these are all "known" tips and are not related to radio bug issue. I also used to have no battery drain over night until I unlocked the bootloader and rooted the phone as I recall. In addition, stamina mode doesn't improve battery at all according to my experience so far with the Z5.

It seems your problem is the widely reported radio bug. I don't seem to experience it myself, probably because I always keep mobile data off, wifi is enough for my use.

I know a lot of people here use the Screen Filter app to both make night-time viewing more comfortable and also save battery use by the display. It is a great app and I have been using it myself for a long time.
However, since upgrading to Gingerbread I have determined that there is something about Screen Filter that Gingerbread does not like, causing it to drain a lot of life from the battery. The battery use does not show up under the Screen Filter application however, it shows up under "Android System".
I can easily demonstrate this - Battery fully charged left on airplane mode, with screen filter running overnight (screen is off) - will consume over 50% of the battery.
Identical setup the next night, with screen filter not running, consumes only 2% of the battery overnight on airplane mode. Checking the battery use screen of Gingerbread, you can see "Android System" is consuming nearly all of the battery use during this time.
I just wanted to post to let people know. I have contacted the developer and let him know about the situation.
could it explain this?
I charge my battery to 100% go to bed, drain 8% in 8/9 hours. But as soon i use my phone once.... (alarm/wake up) my android system starts to use "more" power/accu.

i had but that seems to be an other drain .
In meantime i removed Screen filter and something happend........ i know its impossible but i gained power! I gained 5% accu without charging it after i removingscreenfilter.
stupid thing is i stopped the process of google maps also after removing SF so there is the possibility......
will see tomorrow, thanks for the heads up!
Does it not deserve a fresh thread? My battery is gaining power too, when I go from cold environment to warmer one afte reboot I can get upto 50% more power
Swyped from another GALAXY
I have that one too, Android OS eating up my battery, phone not lasting a day. I tried soft reset. It worked for a while until Android OS became hungry again. Then I flashed CF-root kernel. Android OS is tamed, I am now on the second day and my battery is still 50%.
I dun think that is specific to GB roms. I had the same problem on my froyo too. I always use screen filter at night only, cause I like to read before sleep. If I leave screen filter on, it drains about 40% overnight. Otherwise, it drains about 7%.
From what i can gather, avoid leaving screen filter app running. Just turn it off when you are done and no problems.

Hi Guys
Just a test if it works and would like your feedback
Those on the new XXKH1 firmware could you try this if possible
Menu>settings>power saving> and click on system power saving and/or use power saving mode
and see if it increases your battery life as opposed to not using them.
I just wanna find out if it works..
EDIT : Also wanna find out if there is any relation with AOS BUG and Running services
UPDATE: 8 Hours sleep time screen shots
Android Usage in 8 hours night time almost 20% drain

Do you guys see any pattern in this? with regards to AOS bug and the Battery DRAIN?
Wonder if its anything to do with the running processes?
Also clicking the system power saving makes my phone lag
will update later with full usage
Do you think it works differently than on earlier ROMs?

but it sure lags my phone
Sat in work with the new firmware on and this power thing turned on, it is laggy as hell so i wouldnt use the phone in this mode, but while i am working and have my phone on my desk i thought id give it a test.
i dont have any apps on as it was a clean instal i also dont have any accounts set up for emails ect and have noticed every now and again my screen is lighting up, noticed it twice in the last half hour for what reason i have no idea.
System Power Saving:
-underclocked cpu
-lower brightness
-laggy phone

Ok I have come to the conclusion :
That it dosen't really make much difference to battery life on a whole as such
and on Top of it , It makes your phone lag so bad its a shame.
So am back to unticking them two silly boxes
I have been turning it on when i know im not using my phone for a long time, such as sleeping and in work. And i have seen an improvement. If it is the feature or just a really good firmware i cant tell. I am sitting at 15hrs on with 68% battery remaining. Screen on time is ~1hr45min. Its the best stock i have used thats for sure.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
8 hours 20% drain is kind of too much don't you think? normally my phone is less than 10% for 8 hours
KH1 system power saving limits dual core max clock, adjust brightness and recude UIO rendering speed. Third option is really annoying becuse UI animation is not smooth.

Well there you have your answer. I confirmed both with a Google search though.
You can't change kernel wakelocks without a custom kernel, but yours are normal. Disable some things you use, that use sensors if the battery life annoys you. But really, it don't drain much.
Partial Wakelock and Alarms are the things you have the ability to change.

Which kernel do you use? You need a kernel that have synapse. AEL and Superkernel have Synapse support which can disable kernel wakelocks. Don't know about other kernels.

I just told you what it is one post above yours. That wakelock has NO effect on battery. Ignore it.
Just chipping in here, as I see some people's answers are on the hostile end of the spectrum.
I also have the 13960000.decon_f wakelock on my s7 flat that I'm trying to figure out. The amount of time for this wakelock is about an hour, but my screen on time so far is 3 hours. So there doesn't seem to be a direct link between the 2 so far
However, I also have a PowerManagerService.Display wakelock that is identical to that of the decon_f wakelock

The 13960000.decon_f wakelock seems to match up with SOT for me—not exactly, but with about a small difference that seems to get larger as the day goes by, which I presume means the wakelock takes a second or something after turning the screen off to actually unlock. So what dynospectrum said seems to check out for me, but it's very interesting that it doesn't match up for others. I wonder if there could be something that causes it to hold the wakelock longer after the screen is turned off, resulting in the longer time. @dynospectrum, do you happen to have a link back to the source where @AndreiLux wrote that quote you posted?
It doesn't for me definitely. decon_f wakelock around 12h 31min, while my SoT is only 30 minutes.
Hi, I did not use my phone for the last few hours and it was in Airplane mode.
My battery still decreased and BetterBatteryStats says, that the phone was nearly always awake with screen off. Deep Sleep was only used 2% of the time?
Does anyone have an idea why?
no... but you are not the only one with this issue..
if you clear cache ou you recovery you will get this issue fixed for a day or two. but them it comes back again
To have an idea, we'd need to know about your setup (or have your phone) since a lot of us don't have that problem. It sounds like a rogue app that you could nail down by enabling true battery stats and wakelocks on GSAM. (Sorry I know little about BBS). Check out a thread I started here that worked for most to enable full battery stats without root: https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/how-to/gsam-nougat-how-to-grant-permissions-to-t3528453
Then check battery usage after a few hours and upload a snap of it here. Also check kernel wakelocks and do the same from GSAM. (If you feel like going this path, of course).
I'm seeing the same on OP5/4.5.5;

this shows the GSAM "app sucker", which indicates that after 1.5hours of light use, the Kernel keeps it awake for 59 minutes.
A while before that, I took a screenshot using BBS (xda edition) which shows lots of "awake, but screen off" activity
It all looks like this in the regular battery graph which clearly shows too much "Awake"
Picture 1 suggests this is the kernel so I'm having a hard time troubleshooting. I did clear cache from recovery, but that didn't help
I had the same problem as well, but uninstalling Facebook and Messenger made a huge different in the awake time when the screen was off.
I understand facebook is powerhungry, but this is more than just that. This is something gone rogue. The fact that the kernel consumes it makes it harder to track. Otherwise, "facebook" would be listed on top.

From your first (GSAM) screen, could you show from the pulldown there "Kernel Wake Locks"? Thanks either way.
Almost all userspace apps cause the kernel to spin (since it's what does much of the work), so it'd be nice to figure out which wakelocks are being spun out. Sometimes wakelocks are called for and never picked up as well.
Here's the shots I'm asking for from mine (keep in mine that mine is currently at 21+ hours of usage so my held awake times are OK):

Seems pretty clear that it's an app out of control wakelock wise. I don't think GSAM allows you to break the combined non kernel app wakelocks down further, but BBS..
BBS should let you break those down and give you a better idea which app is causing it. If not, you could try force-closing whatsapp and whatever else is usually running on your phone, resetting the statistics and and seeing what accumulates.
I too face the same issue. Hibernated all apps, turned on battery saver, turned on airplan mode but still battery is draining like hell. I saw it got drained to 6-7% when i woke up in morning.

How'd you hibernate all apps without having root? Just curious. That sounds like something you could only do from TB with root in Nougat.
Anyway: If you're certain you've got every app frozen, then only drastic measures are left like "reset". If you've already tried that, then only more drastic measures remain as in reinstalling all basic firmware.

I suppose if you can manage to give BBS more permissions then it's "possible". I don't use BBS so don't know if that's a doable thing. I would give it a try. I just googled how to break down the wakelocks using BBS and there's several pieces about it but they all involve root. I just think it's possible since I found the GSAM way to do root-type stats without being rooted.

Not necessarily, since a lot of processes facebook uses are tied into system processes. It's worth a shot, I mean I replaced it with a third party app and my awake time went down significantly.

Most likley you just need a new battery. When a battery goes, its quick. That's the one of the beauties of this phone... Removable battery.
Maybe the battery went bad from sitting unused for 3 years.
It was completely dead when I first opened it which was weird for me also.
The drain did slow down some but it's still only at 40%
My stylo 3 is typically above 85% this time of day.
I will swap the batteries and see how it goes. Thanks for replying.

Could also be a system app getting stuck. I used to get them randomly on stock ROM like once or sometimes twice a week. You could install GSam battery app or accubattery app and see if you can see anything misbehaving. I use BBS (BetterBatteryStats) but it's a paid app I believe.
I would try that before spending money on a battery just to see because a reboot doesn't always fix the issue. In one of my cases my Gmail app got stuck constantly syncing and even after reboot it would just start right back and get stuck again and I have Auto sync turned off

I though! maybe it was the dirty Santa so I went back to a stock kdz last night but battery usage still just as bad.
Does it take some time to settle with this phone or is something wrong?
Here is a screenshot of battery stats. I've only been up a few hours at most.

Before going in for new battery, try these,
1. Using LG UP, re-flash latest KDZ using partition download option. Phone gets formatted to new. Make sure battery is at 10%-20% and not above that. This will help re-calibrating of battery, while charging to 100% by system.
2. After installing all apps as per standard setup process, restart the phone.
3. Now the crucial part, disable the following system apps by going in to apps in settings,
-Android Services Library
-Android Shared Library
-App Shortcuts
-Bookmark Provider
-com.facebook.appmanager
-com.facebook.system
-intent filter verification service
-Promo Helper
-Print Service Recommendation service
-market feedback agent
-inapps
After doing above, i could get smooth running of phone and better battery.
Check this , if it works for you,...fine...
holy crap! everything run allot smoother after disabling those services! will there be any down side to it?

How did you come upon this particular list ? other than facebook the thing is disabling others can have side effects that will be difficult to figure out later
So the question is what breaks as a result of disabling these services ?
I have all of the above enabled with the exception of facebook which i do not use and face no problems at all.

I've bought OEM batteries that were as old and faced no trouble.
Give it a few more cycles
