When I send an MMS to anyone on a network other than T-Mobile using the stock MMS app, the recipient receives a 10 second slideshow with the sent image in it. However, if I send the same image using Handcent rather than the stock MMS app, the recipient receives it with no problem.
Has anyone else experienced this? Using Handcent for MMS is easy enough, but I'm curious as to what's wrong with the stock MMS app. Have others experienced this problem?

The initial MMS issue was about receiving MMS, but after they fixed the Receiving MMS it created the issue you are describing

I hear you. I'll give them a call tomorrow, but the fact that mms seems to send properly in handcent but not in the stock app makes me think its problem with the apk and not t-mo's network.

possibly, but worth a shot, just tell em u wanna file a trouble ticket regarding the MMS on the Nexus S and dont take no for an answer.
its an issue with their MMSC server
I cannot figure out how/why on my wife's S4, when using chompSMS and having Quick Reply enabled, she gets a text, the Quick Reply window comes up, but takes her out of where she is and opens chompSMS behind the Quick Reply window. Even if I use the Quick Reply window to respond, it still takes me to the chompSMS app. I checked all settings and I am sure they are the same as my Galaxy Note and chompSMS performs fine on my Note. What am I missing here?

You should use go SMS pro. Or SMS pop up for stock messaging app.

I have a gs4 it even says in my signature sgh-i337. But don't have chomp.

I dont use chomp sms but I do use textra sms which is an app in the playstore which was created by the same developers who made chomp sms and it doesnt have this problem. I highly recommend checking it out.
Chomp sms is always having problems like this. I second the suggestion to use go sms pro.

I'm trying out textra for now. I love go SMS but I hate the MMS support on it.

@op you should try out textra like everyone said. The MMS on it is superb
I'm currently using ChompSMS with my GS4 and have not come across this issue. Maybe try un-installing and re-installing the app to see if it fixes the issue? Maybe e-mail Chomp for support as well?

I don't know? I just confirmed it working on mine from my gs4 to an iPhone 4s. You hit the big + button and went to emojis?

I have not had any issues with chompSMS to this point. I am gonna try the uninstall/install thing and see if that works. If I cannot get the issue corrected, I am going with another SMS/MMS provider.

I have no service at work so I have to rely on WiFi to send messages. I've tested this at home where I can turn my phone on airplane mode with WiFi and send and receive mms fine. At work while I'm on WiFi I get the message that my mms can't be retrieved and to check my apn and click the message to retry. I've been missing pictures and sometimes I'm not getting group messages since they come from mms. Anyone else have this issue? https://imgur.com/JXnTaHt

Are you using System or Legacy for the MMS settings? I had no issues using WiFi Calling with Airplane Mode and Textra until last month. The recent update improved the baseband to where I can get reception in my office.

System. I believe my issue was because the WiFi at work is in and out. Only reason I can explain bring able to send from airplane mode at home. Now I'm not getting some group messages

i know for me on other phones mms dont work with wifi calling only text messages work.It works with native messaging app but as for chomp sms textra in doesnt only text works not mms unless u on tmobile if wifi calling wont work

I've definitely found MMS over WiFi with Textra to be spotty. I ended up going back to Google Messenger and no issues at all.

Has anyone seen this behavior on the V20? I have Textra set as the default SMS app and randomly, I get a notification from the Messaging app that I have a new text or MMS. The odd thing is that those messages won't show up in Textra, only in Messaging.
So far it seems to be with 1 contact, my brother who is on T-Mobile using an S6. I deleted my convo in Messaging with him when this happened yesterday and deleted his convo with me on his phone and it was fine. Just now, I got an MMS from him and happened again. Seems odd...
Anyone else?

I'm using Textra and having no issues at all. Ave you tried uninstall and reinstall in case something may have gone wrong?

I tried that right after I posted, actually. Seeing if it happens again.
How can I get textra to show on second screen
Will Textra send via WiFi? I have not tried the app yet.

I'm not seeing this behavior yet. However, Textra and the Messaging app aren't showing any of my contacts. I keep syncing them, and they show up in the Contacts app, but it's like the Textra/messaging app doesn't have access to them or something.
Edit: Reboot helped.

Same thing. Have you been able to fix it? I'm about to delete Textra, force stop stock app, then reinstall Textra to see if it will start working properly. I noticed that it happens to only one person in my contact list, extremely odd.
Just in case anyone else is having this issue I seemed to have found a fix. Go to settings then apps. Select the native messaging app. Revoke permissions, block notifications, switch "message app" to No, switch draw over other apps to No. Delete Textra, restart phone, reinstall Textra, & set Textra as default app (simply go into Textra & begin to use it, it will ask if you want to make it the default). This should hopefully fix any issues anyone might be having.

After following the steps you listed,the stock messaging app settings (permissions/notifications) reverted back to enabled.
The message app & draw-over other apps settings remained off (no).
There's some MMS settings within the Textra app that are T-Mobile specific,may need to have some trial & error to get things just right,YMMV.

You have to make sure you don't open the native app after setting everything to off. Maybe just set them all to off, delete Textra then reinstall. Don't restart phone as that may be what is enabling the native messaging app settings. I have T-Mobile as well. I enable the T-Mobile MMS over wifi option to on within Textra. T Mobile wifi fix. Apologies for not being more clear about that. When you set that you can actually see wifi shut off & 4G take over when sending an MMS. Never have trouble sending a picture after setting that up.

I leave the off on mine and have not had any issues sending MMS.
Wish that Textra supported the second screen and that is where the notifications appeared.

I'll have to try and leave it off... With the N6P it always had to be on.
None of the above worked for me. The one or two peoples messages that were going into the stock app just stopped coming in completely.
Any other ideas?

I am having an issue where I can only send MMS messages though the Samsung app. I have tried Textra and other 3rd party apps and it won't send or receive but it works through the Samsung messaging app. It's very frustrating as I really want to use a 3rd party app. I am on the 7.0 beta but it was working before. It seems to just have stopped in the past week or so.
Are you using a VPN ad blocker? Adguard gives me issues at times when sending messages, but not receiving messages as far as I know.

I am but I tried disabling it and still causes issues.

Thanks, it's weird that the Samsung app works.....that's what I can't figure out.
Is the Samsung app the only one that works with the VPN on and off, or just with it on?

It works both ways, the VPN doesn't make a difference for me.
