Anyone else experience issues connecting and starting connected on Bluetooth? I noticed that when i was at the gym my Bluetooth headphones have no issues. However when I connect to my car Bluetooth it takes forever to connect or just doesn't (keeps saying failed). When it connects it will promptly disconnect sometimes, usually when a notification comes in. The media and notifications are sporadic (sometimes it says enabled or sometimes they are disabled). On my Ford Sync system it doesn't technically say I'm connected to a Bluetooth. When the media works, it doesn't show the song or anything playing.
Don't tell me it's my vehicle because my HTC One M9 worked fine with Sense/Cyanogen ROMs and my work iPhone 6 and girlfriends iPhone 6S+ both work.
It's probably your vehicle.

It's not the vehicle. I've connected like 6 different devices on it with no issues.
Happens to me sometimes on other samsung devices i just reboot the phone and repair the device. Happens once a week
Maybe your stereo doesn't like the Bluetooth chip in the s7 can you do firmware updates on your stereo I hope this isn't the case as I use Bluetooth in the car every day

It's probably not fully compatible with the new TW or Marshmallow.
I used to have an S5 with no issue. I've ran Lollipop and Marshmallow on my Ford Focus numerous times.
I think I found a solution, go to app manager -> click more (upper right) -> click reset app preferences. Didn't have any problem in last 2 days.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!! This is the first thing that worked. I traded in my phone, traded in my subaru bluetooth unit thingy and NOTHING worked until this. Such an easy fix! Wish everyone at samsung/verison/car dealers knew this!

What year is the Focus? We have two Escapes, a 2010 and a 2011. My S7 Edge has no problem with the 2011, but has issues with the 2010. My S4 had no problem with either and my wife's MotoX has no problem with either.

HI, recently moved from iPhone4 to the Arc and love every bit of it...except the bluetooh pairing with my car's (Audi Q7 2G MMI) handsfree.
Pairing is intermittent and even when it's paired, the connection seems to drop off within seconds.
Does anyone else have the same problem especially with Audis?
Generally, they do that until the phone book transfers across - i know that's the case for the RNS-E. I have a RS4, did it all the time when I first got it with my Blackberry (had 2500 contacts). Just leave the car on accessory with the phone in the garage. I couldn't stand the dong noise everytime it connected disconnected.
Could be worse, I just got the AT&T branded Samsung Focus, it won't even connect with the bluetooth in my Audi or my wife's RR.

Thanks for the reply mate. When I did manage to pair them up, I could see all my contacts on the MMI's display previously. It's only recently that thsi connect/disconnect issue happened and it has certainly gotten worse today where I couldn't even hold a pair for more than 5 seconds.....
In that case - no idea.
Try deleting it on the phone and pairing again? Seems like a strange one.

Did that as well. Tried restarting, deleting and repairing - still no joy.
may have to flash my phone and try again as a last resort....sigh...
have you tried contacting Audi to see if there is a firmware update for the car?
There is a chance even of the car is brand new the software version the phone\ stereo system is using is a few years old.
Just a thought.

hey thanks for the reply. Yeah thought about that too and that's an avenue which i may explore with audi.
having said that, the condition has improved somewhat...it's still intermittent but at leeast it's now 'stickier'. What I did was I uninstalled the last 5 applications that I put in prior to the this happening and it worked.
No idea why.
Hi all. I thought I would look for answer here in addition to the BMW forum.
I can pair and make calls with 2011 BMW.
However, when I accept permission to access phonebook, it attempts to download contacts unsuccessfully, then disconnects after 90 seconds and then reconnects, reattempts the download and the cycle repeats itself. If I deny access to the contacts, the connection remains solid. Unfortunately, I get an annoying connection prompt everytime I restart the car.
The first several times I did this, I permanently allowed access and then realized i had to unpair and start the process over without allowing phonebook access. The Bimmer was behaving so erratically that on a couple occasions when recycling the connection, it actually wiped all previously paired phones from the menu.
The connection is rock solid on Acura with both phonebook and message access.
Using mine on a 2014 BMW without issues here. Perhaps set visibility to always on. This help me with issues on an s4 and my car in the past.

Sounded reasoanable but didn' work. I even updated to BMW's latest software. Well, at least I have a reasoanble chance of full Bluetooth if I segue into a 2014 at the end of my lease.

I didn't have any issues with the F30 rental I had for two weeks. Which infotainment system is in your BMW? Do you have the enhanced Bluetooth with BMW apps? The vehicle I was in had the standard iDrive without BMW apps or enhanced Bluetooth. I did notice it made separate entries in the phonebook for each contact's various numbers(cell, home, work, etc.), which was a bit annoying.
I've noticed in my Miata the Bluetooth connection will remain open, the word "phone" remains on the radio's screen and I can't change to the radio or any other input until I've powered the phone off and on.
With UConnect in the 2014 Grand Cherokee the vehicle would lose pairing with my phone every time I shut the vehicle. A UConnect software upgrade took car of this.

I have the iDrive and updated to the latest Bluetooth software. Behavior is really strange. It asks me first if I want to download messages. If I check no, it usually asks a second time. If I check yes, it uploads messages to iDrive but still doesn't misbehave. If I check yes and also check the ALWAYS box, it usually starts to update the phonebook and that's when the predictable cycle starts of 90 seconds attempting to download the phonebook unsuccessfully, then disconnect and reconnect. And of course, it begins again when I restart the car. The only solution at that time is to unpair, pair again and deny phonebook access.
This is exactly the problem I have with my 2011 BMW 335d with idrive. It could be because the 4.0 Bluetooth on my LG G2 is doesn't want to play nice with the car's older software version. I have tried everything you mentioned and have not had any luck either. I have just learned to press the NO button 6 times every time I start the car, and manually enter names & numbers into the car's phone book that I use frequently.

Same issue here. I however am having the issue on a 2014 Ram with the Uconnect 8.4a infotainment system. It only seems to be an issue with AOSP roms, I've installed several and they all have this issue. I didn't have it with the stock based roms.

When I originally had the problems connecting I was on a stock-based ROM. I was going to try an AOSP ROM when Kat Kat came out, but unfortunately I bricked my LG G2 trying to update. I ended up getting an HTC One (M8) that is still unrooted but the phone pairs and my contacts sync. Although it refuses to recognize the phone for BT music streaming, I'm happy with it's performance so far.
My phone connected via bluetooth to my car no problems until yesterday. All of a sudden it stopped working, i noticed no other changes, so i proceeded to try to pair both from my phone end and the car, still wasnt working so i unpaired and removed the device from my car and phone and tried to repair, the car (2012 sonata) tells me to pair from the phone, and on the phone it cannot find the bluetooth of the car.
I was freaking out and thought it was the car, but i tried my tablet and laptop, andboth are able to pick them up, ive tried turning bluetooth on/off and restarting the entire phone,
Has anyone else experienced their bluetooth going out on the s5 yet?
and what do you think would help? factory reset, or manufacturers return for hardware error?

I've been experiencing some issues with my bluetooth in cars and with wireless headsets. it has annoyed me enough to search the forums today.
Issue with Pandora and bluetooth controls can pause, cannot resume play with MS530 wireless headset.
Issue with Pandora and bluetooth controls can pause, cannot resume play with 2012 Volvo S60 T6 R-Design.
Issue with Pandora and bluetooth controls can pause, cannot resume play with 2011 Volvo S60 T6.
Issue with Pandora and bluetooth controls can pause, cannot resume play with Aftermarket Sony deck in my truck (don't have the model handy).
Built in player sometimes has the same issues, I see more issues when the phone is locked. Fingerprint scanner on.
Today bluetooth locked up totally and had to reboot the device. I did not power down my headset before I left range of my phone and came back and it would not re-connect. I unpaired and attempted to repair and it would not. rebooted powered everything off and repaired and it started working again.
Bluetooth has issues on the S5 phones in my opinion. My iphone 5 has no issues at all with everything. locked or not. Was thinking of rooting to see if I could fix some of these issues as I prefer Android as I like the apps better and the openness to get stuff done.

No, it's not a S5 issue, it's an Android issue and it's been continuous since the beginning. These problems have happened with my previous 3 phones too, so don't delude yourself into thinking these are specific to this phone. Or that they will be fixed for that matter...

I disagree.
Bluetooth has worked on all the android models I've had in the past.
Past Android phones:
HTC Hero - worked great, slow though
HTC EVO - worked great
LG Nexus 4 - worked great
Motorola Zoom - worked great
Samsung Moment - Slow but worked
Samsung Epic - worked great
Samsung S3 - worked great
But if you want to blame the OS go for it. I think your alone there. Its a software issue with Samsung crap in my opinion vs security and all the bells and whistles they are trying to use. I think Android has nothing to do with the issue at all.
I have a moto headset with my s5 and no problems. Had no problems with same one on my s4 either so I wouldn't blame all the phones. It's electronics. Things can go won key when you have a lot of parts. It's probably just that. It happens. Even on iPhone's.

I have problems too. Very odd tho. I can pair my phone and listen to my music just fine. However if I try to use my gps while the BT is connected, no audio will cone from the phone or the BT radio. But as soon as I turn off thr BT on my phone, I can hear my gps through my phone just fine.
I haven't done a factory reset yet, but I have cleared thr phone from my car and re-paired.....still nothing.
The even stranger thing....every one in a while it will work, 9 times out of 10 it won't work. It has worked 2 times since I bought the phone, April 25th.
Never had a problem like this before, with other phones.
meh

As I reply to this one person said they have no problems, one said they have problems. I have had the same issues with syncing and playback on my 2 previous phones, neither of them the S5. There are idiosyncrasies that exist in the software (like any software ever) that just don't work sometimes. I don't know why we should think this phone would be any different.
Hi all! My boss has the Edge + (as do I) and is having all sorts of issues with the bluetooth connectivity in his BMW. It keeps dropping in and out. The calls don't drop; the bluetooth drops and then reconnects. He's a business owner and makes tons of calls from his car, so as you can imagine, this is quite frustrating (and embarrassing).
Anyone else having similar issues?????
Appreciate your help.
I'm actually having similar issues now in my Ford Fusion. It will connect, but won't let me make calls or listen to music. When I attempt to play music it will say that BT media has been disconnected. Upon checking the status on my phone the media turns off, but the phone is still connected. However, neither really works. It's frustrating as it worked for several days when I first got the phone but then suddenly stopped.
Audi mmi works great. Maybe call your dealership and see if they have a update for the system?

My advice for the BMW is to check the firmware update for the specific model of car of your boss on the BMW website
It is not very much intuitive but I can assure there is this possibility and also the new firmware download is possible
I've been using a Note 3 for two years on my BMW 530 and at the beginning with their old firmware I had similar issues, then it was very stable with both music and phone calls. Now I'm using the Edge + without any trouble
No problem with Bluetooth on my Toyota Auris Touring Sport HSD, sometimes sms are not showned but they are well received by the car when I check them, and calls work fine. So as dengi_it told you maybe a firmware issue with your car.
I heard somewhere BMW and Mercedes will have some discussion to link iPhone and cars together maybe they won't support Android phone anymore in the future :s.
Thanks, all. Going to pass along this advice. Appreciate it!
Tell him to buy a new car!

This is my second S6 Edge+. I thought it was possibly a hardware defect with the first but after the second one I am led to believe it's a typical shoddy samsung update. A factory reset will fix the problem for a few days and it will begin again.

Sorry to hear. Good luck!
Works fine in 2011 Hyundai Sonata.
I am having a lot of Bluetooth issues on my Elantra. Works for few days and then it just fails to connect and I have to delete my car from my phone and from my car stereo just to get it to connect. It is a freaking pain in the butt. This is my second Galaxy S6 I have gotten and it seems mostly to be a software issue then a hardware one.
I recently purchased the N6P to replace my dying N4. The transition from one device to the other has gone pretty well, except for one issue. My N6P is unable to find the bluetooth signal from my Ford Fusion. Upon turning on bluetooth and searching for devices, the N6P cannot find the Ford Sync signal. I've rebooted the phone many times, Ive tried it many times in safe mode with no success, Ive turned the Sync's bluetooth on and off numerous times, the phone is still unable to detect it. I have also tried deleting all the paired devices on the Sync settings and had no luck with the N6P working. Aside from a factory reset of the phone, what else can I do?
My N4 was able to connect to the Sync right up to when I stopped using it. My fiancee's Samsung Galaxy (something) can detect, connect, and function with the Sync's bluetooth. I am beginning to think its something with the N6P. Ive tried it on all three versions of the OS Ive had on the phone. The original OS version didn't work when I first powered up the N6P, the next version of the OS i updated to didn't work, and this morning the phone ran the latest update and the bluetooth doesnt work.
I'm at a loss, I'm ready to return this phone and go back to my dying N4.
Edit: I am currently running Android 6.0.1.
My wife's N5x has the same problem with our ford sync, I think its related to the bluetooth disconnection bug I've had since the may update.
You can still connect it by opening the bluetooth screen on your phone so that it is visible to other devices and in the sync setup tell sync to search for devices and select your nexus phone.
My wife and I both own Nexus 6p's. I just bought a brand new Ford F-150 and my wife has a 2014 Toyota mini van (forget the model name off the top of my head, but still a fairly new vehicle). Neither one of our Nexus 6p's will connect to with vehicle. Prior to our Nexus 6p's (which I really had to talk my wife in to getting a Nexus 6p) our LG G4 and Note 5 connected flawlessly. I even bought a Bluetooth thing that plugs in to my trucks aux and that works after turning the Bluetooth on and off a few times. Totally freaking unacceptable. We both have Nexus Protect on both devices, but don't think a new Nexus 6p will fix the issue. No problem at all with Google maps other than audio coming through my brand new trucks speakers. Smh. Both of our phones are not rooted or changed in anyway. Out of the box stock.

Confirm working in Nissan Frontier. Wonder why its certain auto manufacturers?
Works in 2014 Toyota Camry.
Mine works with zero problems in my '13 Fusion Ti. I also have a bluetooth adapter for torque plugged in with no hiccups. Is your sync software up to date?
Mine detects fine , but once connected I loose all system sound. i.e I can't hear map prompts anymore. Anyone knows a fix for this ?

I can verify that I have this experience as well in one of my cars with an aftermarket bluetooth Sony head unit (that supports A2DP streaming). Haven't checked in the Nissan yet (no A2DP), but I will tonight.
Bluetooth on this model sure has some "quirks".....
I have a 2015 fusion Ti & N6P I have had zero issues. however i will say my bluetooth connection is much more stable after updating SYNC to the latest version. Bit of a pain because you have to create a ford account to gain access to the instructions/files. but here is the URL to get you started: https://owner.ford.com/tools/account/how-tos/keep-your-sync-up-to-date.html
I also have a Ford Fusion 2015 and I have no problems connecting to SYNC. It also connects just fine with my wife's Ford Escape. Which month's build are you using? Is your radio up to date? I don't think I've ever updated the SYNC software in either vehicle so I'm not sure it's that. Make sure BT is on and you have the BT page in settings open so that both devices can see each other. Then go into the car's phone menu and add a device. That's how I did it. Make sure the vehicle is not moving or preferably in park. Good luck.
It magically connected right after I posted above. Now I'm afraid to install the June security patch lol. Working flawlessly in my F-150 though.
