Here it is folks from Asus's support page. V2.20.40.168. 1.16 gig download. Instal how you'd like but beware there may or may not be a way to root yet. So take that into consideration when you sideload, update, or flash. I would imagine if your boot loader is unlocked it should be possible to fastboot the latest supersu.zip file to gain root. That's what I plan on doing.
I've taken a look at the OTA 's META-INF updater-script and it looks as if you'll need to be completely back to stock to be able to use the standard OTA method to update. It has the standard " abort if system has unexpected content" lines all the way through it.
Neither one of these has been altered, rooted, or modified in any way. These are straight stock 6.0.1 from ASUS.
I apologize. The firmware link was to the .168 which is still lollipop and the OTA I don't think is even for our device.
I went off of a story that's posted on XDA's home page and downloaded the OTA via the link that said story provided. Didn't check to make sure, should have, but figured it was a trusted source on XDA.
Again my apologies stay tuned ill figure out what's going on as soon as I get to work.

If you want just the OTA (which is only 183 MB ) then here's a link to it. Again I don't know if you can keep root or if we have a way to root yet.

Here's a screen shot of the META-INF updater-script showing the Android version and you can see all the "abort if system has unexpected content" lines through out.

I apologize I jumped the gun on this due to a post on XDA's home page and via the link it contained. I realize now that the .168 firmware is lollipop and the OTA I don't even think is for our device.

Hello guys,
at first I want to say that I am really happy to be a member of this community, where so many users from different countries with different devices come together
and conducting experience exchange. This community is really important for every G3 user, especially to be updated on latest software or to solve problems.
But what really drives me nuts is the ongoing asking about how to root Lollipop in every possible thread.
The answers are mostly the same, what makes this question (let it be a post or a thread) almost useless.
Not only that it annoys me if I am continuously reading the same things, it also makes the whole forum confusing and relevant informations may go missing.
Why we cant create a seperate thread for rooting Lollipop whereto all this issue regarding threads will get removed?
And let us be honest: If you are not able to collect knowledge about rooting from the already existing threads, you shouldnt do it anyway.
Sorry but that had to be said
Just my 2 cents!

Wrong section for your REBUKE. We have Mods who determine whats right or wrong to post and they delete or move threads accordingly.
This rant is a waste of time and space. IMO should be in the Q & A Section but thats for the moderators to decide.
The next big thing will be to ROOT the G3 in its Lollipop/ART state which is why you see this question asked everywhere.
whoever comes up with a way to do this is worthy of praise.
I think the hardest thing to do is 1) Tell everyone at once that it doesn't exist yet, and 2) Tell everyone once it's achieved!
Sticky's do not work, in this day and age where information is so readily and quickly available, most people will not read pages of Q&A, no point discussing it it just will not happen.
Would be nice if once root on stock is done, that a message could be sent to anyone who's posted keywords 'root' + 'stock' under the LG G3 forums. Maybe that's an app in itself. IFFFT + Pushbullet etc etc
I second that my man. RoOT me stock G3 xda
we want to do something about the root Lollipop, please let
Hey guys, I'm using the d852 variant , upgraded to lollipop recently via the OTA, and obviously lost root because of it. Can anyone PLEASE help me get root back?! I've skimmed every post on XDA and not a single one mentions root for lollipop . thanks in advance

Hi Friend,
Please try this thread that I just created: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-update-to-lollipop-root-bumpd-twrp-t3048845
...it's tested to be working fine for my LG G3 variant (D858HK). The steps are from this original thread; I just added an extra manual step (and my thread looks long because I tried to detail the step, with pictures).
I ask this because I cant seem to find any relevant Info regarding updating the software of the device.
I'm looking for the image of the latest stock build with as little as possible modification (obviously except pre-rooting & built-in TWRP) ready for flashing with recovery is there any hope that such a thing?

Maybe you should try reading "LG G3 General", "LG G3 Android Development" and "LG G3 Original Android Development" forums. There are dozens of threads and post about that, the info you asked for is on their's first page... This thread, for example.
In short: no, nobody yet made a prerooted kdz. If by "image" you meant "a flashable zip", then yes, head to robalm's thread.
First link exactly what I was looking for thanks!
P.s
I looked in said forums didn't had any luck finding...
Hi,
after updating through LG program, now I have an original PIE branded rom, but have no twrp nor root.
I'm searching for a guide to install twrp and root to an original and clean pie rom, but I find only old guides.
How to install twrp and root to my original pie rom? Links appreciated
Thanks

Hello!
Why did you not look at the guides section of this forum before asking - that's BASIC forum etiquette!
Please do that, there's a pinned (!) guide for unlocking the bootloader and installing twrp, so you don't even have to search.
So next time please do search and not just claim to do so (searching requires actual looking) and don't start another useless thread.
Regards
PS if you're absolutely clueless, ask in the noob friendly thread (again, pinned).

I already looked to that guides, infact I used them to install twrp and root when I was on nougat or oreo, because they are guides that were created in nougat or oreo times or, best, they clearly state for what version they're right. But reguarding android pie I have not found anything by "date" or by "clear reference to pie"... Have I been clear?

Nothing has changed, it still works, as I myself can confirm (just did it last week, when camera started freezing on me, going back from an Android 10 ROM - flashed stock Oreo via lgup, upgraded, installed twrp via fastboot, rooted, np).
But to reiterate... Why exactly didn't you ask in the corresponding thread? Sorry, but I'm a stickler for uncluttered forums.

Though answered in original thread (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=82568045&postcount=87), here I see something more to comment, so I'll slightly rephrase the answer here:.
1. Your requirements may be kindly fulfilled or blankly ignored by community, nobody is obliged here to anybody, except everybody are to stick to forum rules.
2. Search works in these forums quite effectively. All information you are looking for is present in original thread; https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=82370929&postcount=42
3. It is not very polite to ask same question in several threads, e.g. You've raised same question as a separate thread here after asking it in original thread; this may be regarded as breaking forum rules.
4. New threads representing questions are supposed to go in "Questions and Answers" forum, not here.

I have a galaxy s10+ and i rooted it and installed a custom rom and did a few changes. The question is that, will those changes and the custom rom stay/retain after i unroot my phone? i used Magisk app if that helps.
I actually changed my phone's imei number. But a few days ago somehow my phone automatically got unrooted, i even tested it with root checkers and also Magisk says not rooted too But the thing is that the imei is not changed and is working fine.
For that reason, i haven't let the phone die or restart it since then because im scared that something might go wrong i.e. Changes get reverted, boot loop and etc. Someone else did the root and imei change for which is why i dont really know much about this stuff.
Any help will be appreciated
@fakhar_nadeem Thread has been moved from the development section, for which it didn't qualify, to the Q&A section but also closed as duplicate of
