They did not make a Note 5 Edge, so I wouldn't get your hopes up on a new one...

It's literally the best phone ever made
There is still a chance that we get an edge variant of the new note when it's released this summer. The note 5 didn't get one because they were hoping the s6+ would fill the void. They have reversed course and have no plans for a s7+ so maybe the new note will get an edge variant again
Even if they make a new one, I am NEVER gonna buy one. Why? Look how did they treat the current Note Edge? No updates, no security patches NOTHING!
Updates are overrated..... the most stable software is usually the one the phone comes with.
When u upgrade ur phone then take advantage of a software upgrade leap.
In the meantime there will be plenty of tweaks that can be used up personalise the phone.

The usefulness of the edge trumps any software upgrades IMO.
I think this year we could see a Note Edge variant, because the S7 Edge of this year is already in commerce with dimension bigger than flat style and because last year s6 edge plus was presented together Note 5 and didn't sold lot.

we shall see, i doubt it. and i'm prepared to hold on to my note edge for a 3 year if they don't put back the ir and removable battery. samsung ruined the beast they created.

I did read that with an add-on (sold separately) the edge will work. I will try to find the article when I get home after work, but it was someone speaking to a Samsung rep...so it seemed legit

It's not a hardware difference since that is identical, the Edge just won't fit due to it's form factor.

I've heard directly from Samsung reps that the Note Edge WILL work with the Gear VR with an add-on.
And, yes, I have both devices. However, I plan to return the Note 4, even though it has a much more premium FEEL to it.

Exactly the same... White Note 4, Black Note Edge with white wallet flip original cover (looks amazing)... I will not sell any, lol... I like both... Currently using the Note 4 more since there are many more mods available, (as @reo420510 mentioned) but I really do like the Edge... Veeeeeery expensive habit as mentioned by @67srbell, but no regrets. Also waiting for the VR... (and hoping it works with the Edge too, with or without adapter)

Expensive habit here too ? I did initially feel guilty about spending so much money on phones in short space of time though.
In terms of colour, I haven't seen the white edge in person but the black edge look stunning. Well, at least I think that way anyway.
I am debating whether or not to buy an unlocked international version of this phone but I do not like all the negative technical issues and battery life issues i see on a lot of forums. I have had android before and would not care to root the phone and flash a better kernel or rom to fix the issues if possible, but I want to know your opinion and also to see if anything has improved recently.
Also if not what phones would you all recommend that is similar to the edge plus?

Then I should probably wait till S7 edge comes out. I will want the newest and I won't have the money till end of next month anyways.

This would be doubtful.
Last year they released the S6 Edge Plus mostly to appease users in Europe that wouldn't be getting the Note 5. Their records showed that under 20--percent of users in europe the S-Pen and just wanted the Note device for the large form factor. This is mostly why the Edge+ even got made.
This year however, they have decided to release the Edge itself as a larger device. There is no benefit to releasing an S7 edge plus this year. However, we may see a Note 6 and Note 6 Edge. We will be seeing the Note released throughout Europe as well.

I'd say it's unlikely. I feel as if they're only going to release the Note 6 this summer.
Why?
The s7 edge appeals to both s6 edge+ and s6 edge users with a 5.5" screen. If Samsung were to hypothetically make a S7 edge+ it'd have have a ~6.0" screen for product differentiation. On top of that the sales were not that great with the s6 edge+ in comparison to the note 5. Oh and let's not forget that confusing naming convention they're likely trying to oust.

I don't think they will... Simply because why make the S7 EDGE is bigger. S6 vs S6 edge were the same size. the S6E+ was larger. What are they going to do make a even bigger one? I don't think they'll do it this time around.
I only discussed this yesterday with someone who said they were waiting for it before updating. I'll put money on Samsung not releasing a plus variant of the S7.

I don't think a 6" for a phone is too much. Look at the Nexus 6. I bet you money they will release an upgraded version this year
Samsung cater for the majority. And 6" for the majority is too big for a phone. If they do release another device based on the S7 this year it won't be because it has a bigger screen. And I can't think of what else they'd release one for. I'd take that bet.

Yes I have. And no, they will not make an Edge+ because Edge itself has already enough big screen. That would be an 6-inch screen and there is no way in hell that they will make it.
My theory, and I have no real reason to believe this but it's what I'd do.
Samsung's new line-up:
March release:
S7 and S7 edge, we know these
September release:
Note 6 at 5.7"
Note 6 edge at 5.7"-6"
Each primary phone (S or Note) has an edge variant. Serves different customer bases while keeping everyone happy.

Note edge was a note 4 with an edge screen.
I never said that last year or the year before Samsung did what I was suggesting they were going to do this year.
I never said this was anything more then a theory, I should have said a guess. It's just that, what I think they will do. Your 'inside' information may be true. I don't know, and I'm not one to claim any special knowledge when I don't have any.
Wondering about this myself, hopefully they don't release a + version because that would suck.

I have had a samsung galaxy note 3 for about 2 years and it has worn down a lot. Ive been wanting to get an s7 edge, but I've been reading and hearing good things about the galaxy s8. Should I wait the extra 5 or 6 months for the s8, or should I go ahead and get the s7 edge?
go for s7 edge...as a owner of s7e i don't jump to new devices right away until 2-3 months of release until the premium price is reduced, availability of drvs for it and root

I really like the S7 Edge however if you can afford to wait I'd wait for the S8, it's just a few months away and when it's released you'll even get a nice price cut on the S7 Edge in case you find it to be a better investment.
If however, you need the phone right now, then go for the S7 Edge, you won't regret your acquisition it's an amazing phone.

There is pro and cons.
If you buy S7 Edge you are coming to a prepped table with a lot of roms, root and stuff.
You would know what is working and what is not working.
If you buy S8 you have to wait for the release of different stuff, if you are a root guy.
Will be a waiting game for the s8 it may come out later than expected.
I would get the s7e and like other members have said wait a few months after the s8 is released then maybe sell your s7e and get the s8

Technically speaking Samsung Canada contracts out their sales to two different companies. One runs the Samsung Experience stores that have a physical presence in certain malls. Online sales are handed off to Tech Data Canada which is based in Mississauga Ontario.
Pre ordered mine from Telus. Was going to do samsung too until I saw that they are not getting the timely updates one would expect. Unlocked s7/edge is still on Marshmallow. Yuk! Anyway super stoked. Telus might start shipping for as early as the 17th. Fingers crossed! [emoji4]

I won't ever order an unlocked phone again. The Galaxy S7 Edge unlocked phone (G935U) still doesn't have nougat. It just got March security updates and the last ones were December. On top of that, the people that preordered the Gear S3 from Samsung Canada, had to wait over a month from those who ordered from Best Buy.

I wish I could pre-order from my carrier too but I don't want to change my plan and Telus doesn't allow you to just outright pre-order purchase the phone. After my last experience with Tech Data over the Note7 pre-order, I don't feel at all assured that I made the right choice. I remember getting my Note 7 after the release date, even though I pre-ordered it practically within the same hour the window opened!
Don't forget to register for the free gear vr! You have to fill out this form for Samsung in order to receive the gift. Fill it out and when you get your phone, register it and Samsung will send your Gear VR. This should be interesting to see who actually gets it.

God they are stupid and shortsighted. After the huge note 7 fail one would think they would want to sell as many s8's as possible. Which would mean making all colours available.
I pre ordered anyway but will swap it for a sliver or gold exynos version like i did with the note 7 and s7 edge.
Not off to a great start samsung.

Yeah i checked the koodo website...it says silver but i have s strong feeling its the gray one...i may just call them to see.
Im going to swap it for a exynos anyway once my local seller has them so i guess it doesnt really matter what colour i get but its still a stupid move on Samsungs part

We got screwed after the S7...
I had both exynos and snapdragon note 7s and the exynos killed it pretty
