Hey guys, I am running the stock ROM rooted with TWRP. I am comfortable using ADB/Fastboot, and I was wondering how to manually update my phone via ADB/Fastboot when the next OTA is released? If anyone can post a guide or provide instructions I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance for the help!

You can't flash the OTA, you have to flash the factory images. Full instructions are in my guide linked above.
Hey guys thanks very much! Really appreciate the help.

Hi guys. I'm a noob here in terms of rooting and stuff. Plus, I'm tinkering with my girlfriends phone.
After reading through threads here, I was just able to successfully root her phone earlier using z4root and I already got TitaniumBackup so that we'd be able to prepare for upgrading. She currently has stock eclair.
Just wanna ask what rom would you suggest for better phone performance. Plus, what'd be the process when upgrading and all. Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have fastboot or recovery? I think you'll have to flash a Fastboot ROM via KDZ.

Thanks. Another question though, what'd be the link for the KDZ/Fastboot rom? I really have no idea how'd the process go.

There is no Stock Recovery, you will need to flash your entire image for your carrier. Look through the link below, this should do it for you to bring you back to Stock.

Yes I have, that is why I would suggest it. I will never suggest a method or app unless I had tried it and found success with it.
Hi,
Could someone point me in the right direction, I want to update but don't want to brick my phone.
I have a Nexus 6p running build number MDB08L.
On the bootloader menu it says:
"BL: angler-02.01"
"Baseband:angler-02.15"
"Product/Variant: ANGLER-ROW-VN1"
It is rooted and has TWRP version 2.8.7.2
The phone works fine, on boot I get a message saying "Your device software can't be checked for corruption please lock the bootloader" but as I say it then goes past that, boots and everything works as it should.
I would like to know how I go about updating to 6.0.1, I tried OTA but obviously that fails.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks

get factory img here https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images and follow this guide http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/11/12/running-into-the-dreaded-missing-system-img-error-flashing-android-5-0-factory-images-heres-how-to-get-around-it/ you do not need to flash userdata.img that way you keep data but you can flash every thing else safely but skip recovery because you have twrp also you will need to reroot if you want

If only there was a guide that was pinned at the top of the general section (easy to find) that explained how to update. Oh wait, there is...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/guides-how-to-guides-beginners-t3206928
I wrote that guide, it's in-depth and meticulously maintained. You'll find exactly what you need in section 10. The OTA fails because you can't apply an update to a device that has /system modified. The warning you get every boot is normal for an unlocked device and is nothing to worry about.

I know you mean well but that guide is incorrect (fastboot flash userdata is a huge no-no). My guide is more detailed and is tailored for this device.

It is yes apologies I am a n00b to this and got confused, I didn't realise MMB29M was what I am upgrading to I thought I had to match my number with one on the download page if that makes sense.
Anyway I have just followed the guide and now at 6.0.1 and fully rooted.
Thank you for your help and the guide.

Did u flash over your rooted 6p? Do you have to do anything to get root again, or it remained rooted after the manual flash?

You will have to download the factory image and use FlashFire to flash it onto your system. Just follow the links and do what it says.

Once you are done try to reboot into recovery. If it fails, reboot normally and use FlashFire to flash the latest version of TWRP and SuperSu.

Its for op3/t but use the correct files for op5
First download the stock recovery from here and flash it via fastboot.
Then download the image here, follow the instructions there to sideload the image and install it.
Finally once you're sure you have the stock OOS properly installed and the stock recovery installed. Relock the bootloader via:
Code:
fastboot oem lock
And you're done.
Thanks guys, helped me out!
One love
