Hi guys. I'm a noob here in terms of rooting and stuff. Plus, I'm tinkering with my girlfriends phone.
After reading through threads here, I was just able to successfully root her phone earlier using z4root and I already got TitaniumBackup so that we'd be able to prepare for upgrading. She currently has stock eclair.
Just wanna ask what rom would you suggest for better phone performance. Plus, what'd be the process when upgrading and all. Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have fastboot or recovery? I think you'll have to flash a Fastboot ROM via KDZ.

Thanks. Another question though, what'd be the link for the KDZ/Fastboot rom? I really have no idea how'd the process go.

i´m probably lost. if you have rooted your phone you have it rooted "forever" So I wrote to you - read threads with rooting and do only things what you need. (those what you didn´t) after this flash that ...98.img (?) i can´t remember it´s name) If you did succesfully all steps, simply follow next. If any of them was not succesfull, repeat them. If fail, find in forum "how to" for that step. You are not first, nor last

You can not flash a ROM in a PD98IM.zip way...you will mess the bootloader even more. Maybe, you can try to flash the official RUU. You will lose root, but not S-OFF if you are S-OFF...
Hey guys,
I searched the board many times, but I can't find an tutorial which explains some steps to get completely back to stock Rom.
At the moment I'm using the cm10.1 with the same v8 bootloader.
Is it just enough to flash stock ROM ?
Will this reset the bootloader and recovery to Stock?
Best regards, Markus

Oh wow. Why didn't I find this on my own? I searched pretty long because I was sure that someone must have written a guide, but I can't find it.
I'll try this and report later.
Thanks mate.

hi all,
so after a series of stupid decisions, i have no rom on my nexus 4
i can boot into bootloader and recovery (twrp) but for some reason cannot mount it to my computer so i cannot transfer a new rom
i tried using this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312 to flash a stock rom, but the n4 would get stuck at the boot animation, so i tried to wipe cache in the recovery. this only made it get stuck at the google logo
does anyone know of a method to somehow transfer a new rom to my phone?
any help would be greatly appreciated
You can use a toolkit found in the development area of the forums. They should be able to flash stock rom on bootloader via fast boot.

thank you, it worked
If you had never used a toolkit in the first place there would have been no need to create this thread. You would have known how to fix it. Fastboot is your friend.

Don't use a tool kit. Here is a guide from the nexus 5 it'll work just the same on the n4 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47025283
Except get the recovery, twrp, image file from here http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/mako

So, I'm currently running cloudyg2 2.2, and I'm thinking about downgrading back to stock and then taking the OTA to lollipop, but I haven't heard anyone mention if it is possible to retain root through the update process, or to obtain root afterwards. It'd be great if there was a flashable zip, but I don't know if that's possible at the moment.
You can get root again. Its a script in the development forum.
If you do this can you make a twrp backup of the stock lollipop rom and upload it? (since you'll essentially be pure stock anyway).
I'll buy you a beer
I see a link for a tool you use while connected to a computer, but does stump root still work?

No, all on-device roots are patched with Lollipop (unless you have a custom recovery, which is unobtainable on stock lollipop for the d800 as far as I know)
Use the one that requires PC. If you run into issues, pm me or reply to me on this thread.

I'd assume you could just use a kdz to go back.
So.. no recovery as of yet on official Lollipop am I right?
Keeping that in mind, is it worth the update? Is it smoother/better?
I know this can be asked in any of the other threads, but I'm asking here with respect to its worth when compared to losing Custom Recovery.

Hi there.
Is anyone here using TWRP 3.x? I'm still on 2.x, since I read of lots of problems with newer versions of the recovery on this device, but I'd like to upgrade now. Can anyone give me some feedback?
Thanks in advance
It works but as with multiple posts not with Aroma.

I see no reason to update if u have no issue on 2.x. sometimes upgrade is just a no go.

If you're trying to downgrade, it means that you've flashed TWRP.
If you've flashed TWRP, it means that you already know how to flash a custom recovery.
If you already know how to flash a custom recovery, then this is EXACTLY the same thing. Just pick an older version of TWRP and flash it the exact same way you would flash any version of TWRP.
And if you don't even know how to do that, google is your friend.
