Hi all,
During idle and sleep time I see my phone is still active during doze (not during idle_pending but during idle itself). I can constantly see the active line in the graph like bar code. Happens both in wifi and Lte.. I can't find any suspects using bbs and wakelock detectors.
Do u keep wifi turned off during night? If it's turned on, do u see the phone being awake.
BTW I have set the wifi frequency as 2.4 ghz only and my router is 2.4 ghz one..
Look usage wakelocks statistics using BetterBatteryStats.

i want to know... is it better to turn off wifi when screen turns off or 3g consumes more battery than wifi.
i think 3g consumes more battery than wifi, i don't know why every one recommend to turn off wifi when screen turns off.
Additionally, the process of switching on/off wifi/3g will consume more battery...
Turn all data connections OFF when not using them.... this will save battery.
you can use wifi sleep policy, but if you are on GB you may experience Android OS drain...
turn off all data and set wifi sleep policy to never

WIFI OFF when not using - most of its idle state consumes up to 10x juice as data connection at idle (15-50 mA / 5 min)
DATA CONNECTION can be ON <- at conected but idle state it is not using more juice then if that would be off (5 mA / 5 min)
as well as BT and GPS can be ON all the time
ofc itt will not be so low if youll have sync every minute or some live widgets
Get juice defender, set it up right, and you will see a big gain!

there is no need for any juice or battery defenders
any task/proces killers/managers or any paid or free apps
that are said to make your battery life better longer better whatever
basicly stay away for wifi and remember when you play games, use gps or simply use the phone battery will go down.

How did you gather this data?
I want to do some testing
battery monitor widget gives you such data and many cfg options
that is data given by diff phone codes gathered in one place, presented in configurable graphs and more...
damn i sound like commercial =)
this 5mA in idle is due 5 background apps (all sort of monitors i run)
think with a clean system it could be 1-2mA -that means-> basicly no % loss when you are sleeping and phone is not used
now i have few % loss by night but i find that more then ok
In my opinion you have definetly turn off ur wifi if not in use. It'll drain your battery!

nice thanks^^
3G use more battery then WIFI does
jvp - idle - no
i leave always wifi off do not make sense to keep it on since it will be scanning the hole time for new network (which mean more battery wasted) .
Also when i leave my wifi on sometime the phone connect to some near network , which require some http identification , so the phone will be connected to wifi network but without internet , in this case email sync and other auto update stuff will not work until i get away .
SO here when needed and there is a wifi network available i just switch it on .
iget searching->connecting->disconect
on my MIUI galaxy, there is a fix for that?
Here is a question about Wifi sleep that seems pretty obvious to me, but in case I am wrong I will ask here.
You enable Wifi, which shuts off 3G (but keeps 1X active). Now Wifi goes to sleep (when the phone is in your pocket), and while Wifi is sleeping, someone sends you a GMail. I assume that you will NOT get any push notifications while Wifi is snoozing away???
You should have WiFi set to not sleep.

To expand on Beezer80's comment, you will have better battery life if you set your wifi sleep policy to never sleep. Your power is drained faster with repeated search and connect actions by your phone, so you'd be better off keeping the pipeline open all the time.
I've noticed if I leave wifi on overnight, it drains about 30% battery.
My wifi sleep policy is set to never. The only apps supposed to use network is autosync from Calendar, Evernote, Gmail, Google Voice.
I'm using Darkside CM7. Is this normal?

Im pretty sure it is. having your wifi on is just like constantly having 4g LTE on, except maybe not as bad. Your phone is constantly connecting to Wifi/ trying to find a Wifi signal, so even if you have wi-fi on, and your not connected to wifi atm, it will still drain battery. If your using wifi, turn your 4g off so it doesnt burn twice the amount of power. same thing vise versa.
Is there a way to let it activate autosync once every hour but have wifi turn off rest of the time to save battery? I don't have a data plan so I can only use wifi.

Hmmm, 30%? If you were using stock, that would be normal but you are using CM? Thats definetly weird, have you checked your OC settings, that might be it. Also, you might wanna try setCPU to underclock it, it really saves a bunch of battery.
Under CPU settings I have Governor: interactive, Minimum:245, Maximum 1024.
When I have wifi off, it only uses 1-2% battery when I wake up.
Hi,
I have a new Nexus 4.
Sometimes when I check my device in the morning, I see that it lost ~40% at night.
This happens even if I turn off wifi and mobile data.
When I look at the battery settings I see that the device was sleeping the whole night.
So if the device is sleeping and there were no wake locks, what else can cause him to loose battery?
Thanks.

FB-Messenger, Skype, WhatsAPP to name a few candidates.
Try the cpuspy AP, this will tell you in which activity staus your phone is in and how long it is in deep sleep e.g.

Thanks, I installed CPU Spy.
Seems like 46% was in deep sleep and 44% in a low frequency (384 MHz).
So how can I tell what caused it to get out of deep sleep?
Only one example is the monitor included in Android Assistant (useful APP in general IMO)
"Report location from this device" was the culprit in my case. Caused massive battery drain even when everything else was turned off.

Thanks but it's already disabled on my phone.
Hey guys...
Just here to say that I unplugged this phone at around 5 in the morning, and around 5 hours later its already down to 74%.
What did I do? Only about 10 minutes of mobile hotspot, a 2 minute phone call, and three text messages. The rest just idling...
1/4th of my battery life for just that?
What the heck?
Everything is disabled and the screen brightness is low... Whats the matter with this phone?
Looks like something is keeping your device awake.
Can you please add some screenshots of your battery graph?
In addition, you can try to boot into safe mode. If your problem is gone in safe mode, a third party app is interfering.
If you're rooted, try installing Wakelock detector or BBS (Better Battery Stats) and check out what is waking up your device.
If you use Gas Buddy, it was known to be causing massive bluetooth wakelocks. Either uninstall it or update it to the latest version.
Set your wifi to 2.4 ghz only. On 6.0 and 6.0.1, the 5 ghz band has been causing abnormal battery drain and keeping phones from entering doze mode. Here's the issue being reported: https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=197460
If neither of these make a big improvement, you'll have to use your battery stats (and if rooted, use Better Battery Stats or Wakelock Detector) to specifically see what's keeping the phone awake. In either of these apps, filter the view by "Alarms" or "wakeup triggers" and you'll see what the heavy hitters are.
Be sure to go into Location>Settings and turn off wifi and bluetooth scanning.
Hi.the maps app isvuding WiFi and gps even though both are disabled and I'm not using it... Any ideas?
