Modem update useful? - X Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
i own a X Play and rooted it with lollipop. After a year i simply updated my custom rom to marshmellow. Is it usefull to update the modem too? Or did the update automatically update rom and modem?
My Baseband says: M8936_2020613.22.03.21.33R LUX:Emea_cust.
If it is needed, how do i update without wiping anything?

You are using a custom rom. So why to update anything else till your phone is working totally fine.

[Q] update from Poland 4.4.2. KITKAT to German version

Hi,
I am now on the 4.4.2 from Poland, rooted, no CWM, everything runs fine. I was wondering whether I could switch to the new German release. OTA says "System modified", Kies says "This is the newest firmware".
So, is there a way to switch or to set the system status back to official to get OTA update?
Thnx

Just reflash the Stock ROM so you're unrooted again, you can use Wanam to get Official status, however you won't be able to install the OTA update but it will download.

Ok, but...
- if I flash stock rom from Poland, I will loose all data? I have flashed with the one-part-rom from Sammobile.
- I could also flash German Kitkat directly instead of the original Polish rom. Will that erase my data?
.Could anybody please provide the German update (Kies) for me to flash via Odin?
You won't lose any data flashing it

I dunno what is your device but stock Android 5.0 (lollipop) isn't out for TW devices, only leaks or custom Roms and only for the i9505G (Google Play Edition).

[Q] Downgrading to KK

I've recently installed the official Lollipop from Poland on my n9005, and I have some problems with every official LP release (starting to charge randomly even when not plugged) so I wonder if I can downgrade to KK.
I dont have any backups on my phone, so the only solution is using ODIN to flash official KK back to my phone, right ?

I'm in the same situation too, I was wondering what if i rooted and installed a custom recovery to my Lolipop then flashed a custom kitkat rom, will this even work?

updating stagefright patch without unrooting?

I have a rooted tmobile gs5 lollipop 5.1 stock rom. Are there any options to install the stagefright update without unrooting? OTA is not an option, my phone gives me the
I was thinking about installing a custom rom that would have that patch already in it????
Is there a way to use samsung smart switch to install the update? When I attempt to check for software update on my phone, it actually tells me the OS has been modified and try using the smart switch....
Finally, if unrooting is a must, when I go to root, can I follow the same exact protocol as before, or must the developers update the root packages first?
Hi.
Is there a 5.1 stock lollipop for S5?

I have a towelrooted S5 with a slightly debloated stock lollipop 5.0 (BOD3) and I successfully patched stagefright with FlashFire and this fix.
The Detector App says "Not Vulnerable". Knox is still 0x0. No unrooting necessary.

Software Status Still Modified after Installing Stock Rom

Hi guys
I unlocked bootloader and rooted the system in moto x play xt1562. On bootloader screen, it says Software status: Modified. But after flashing stock rom, it remains Modified. Any chance restore it to Official?
Which stick ROM did you flash? Did your flash include the recovery?

I also wanted to know if this is possible
When I restored the official ROM, the bootloader show me Official, but when I instaled a custom recovery, the status changed to modified... Try to see if you flashed the original recovery via ADB

Only way to get software status Official is installing the Stock Rom 5.1.1 that comes with the device, otherwise, it won't happen.

If the ROM is official and unmodified it should be fine. AFAIK there is only a soak test version of 6.0 available. I'm not sure if it contains recovery, if yes if you flashed it and if the version has status unmodified. Maybe someone else who uses 6.0 knows.
You have to change the flag back using something like Bootunlocker to get it to show again. Or is that just the tamper flag?

Bootloader unlocked should not affect this software state. Afaik it makes no sense to relock bootloader at all, except maybe if you lend your device to someone you do not trust.

When everything was new, then why did you flashed stock rom.
It's because of that flashing it is showing modified status.
