I've recently installed the official Lollipop from Poland on my n9005, and I have some problems with every official LP release (starting to charge randomly even when not plugged) so I wonder if I can downgrade to KK.
I dont have any backups on my phone, so the only solution is using ODIN to flash official KK back to my phone, right ?

I'm in the same situation too, I was wondering what if i rooted and installed a custom recovery to my Lolipop then flashed a custom kitkat rom, will this even work?

What is the difference between devices hltetmo and hltecan? I have a hltecan. Will we need CyanogenMod compiled for hltecan? I notice that recoveries have different versions for both devices. Also I am wondering about downgrading for 4.4 (when it comes) to 4.3. Is there a surefire way to upgrade and downgrade between 4.4 TW 4.4 CM and 4.3TW? I would not mind voiding my Knox counter. Just worried about being stuck or getting a brick for another 21 months on contract :silly:

I played around a bit earlier... The only firmware you can upgrade to 4.4.2 and downgrade back to 4.3 is the mexican telco one for the n900w8, however I had some issues but will play some more tomorrow when I get time. As for KNOX, it's just one of them things we have to live with I'm afraid..
EDIT: I'm gonna mess with the bootloader and see, doubt it can be matched/mixed to work with the N9005 but what's the harm in trying.

The harm in trying is a hardbrick.
Well yes there is that, however I am not overly fussed about it, as most HB's can be revived. I am aware of all the risks, so will be my fault 100% if I brick myself.
I upgraded my note 3 yesterday to android 4.4 with cm 11, using the probam rom.
I noticed that it lacked the s pen features, so i downgraded back to stock rom.

Flash a tar.md5 through twrp? What version of the stock rom?
Did you have the new bootloader?

CM is based on MJ/MK Bootloader. You could run Android 9.6 and it'd make no difference. It's all about the bootloader

Sorry. Can't understand exactly. What exactly means what versions you can run with a new bootloader?
MJ7 is the bootloader that powers CM currently. You need a bootloader to be able to boot into the operating system. Like a key into the phone.
If you upgrade your bootloader to a newer version aka NA6 it locks the phone. Therefore anything that runs lower than NA6 aka MJ7 won't work.
Think of it like, you broke your door, you got a new door and tried to use the old key. It no long works.

I know how bootloaders work. Isn't there a way to omit bootloaders from Odin tar.md5 updates? Once I/Someone figures that out I'm golden staying with my old bootloader. Currently on MJ1.

hi, can you elaborate?
i always thought samsung doesn't let you downgrade to an older bootloader. but if you install CM (not samsung official updates) the bootloader doesn't get updated so you can downgrade in the future.
unless you upgrade to 4.4.2 official samsung ROM and update the bootloader, then you'll never be able to downgrade again?

No, if you want to try out kitkat i recommend you to use a cyanogenmod based 4.4 like probam, it doesn't update your bootloader and you can just downgrade back to jellybean

I rooted my sprint note 3 today and installed the AICP lollipop ROM. Before I installed this I backed up my stock ROM. When I tried to restore the stock ROM, it boots up to a black screen and a pop up shows up for nearly all of my apps that says they are not responding so all I get is that and a black screen. Is this because I went from a 5.0 ROM to a 4.4.4 one? Is there any way to get my stock ROM working again ? I'm using TWRP on a Sprint Note 3 SM-N900P. All help would be much appreciated.

Hey, I've updated to Lollipop and I have upgraded bootloader, modem, etc with stock ODIN rom (lollipop). I prefer KitKat... do you know how I can go back to running KitKat? I tried flashing KitKat but ODIN fails after the lined hidden.img.ext (something like that).
Thanks! :victory:
that is weird, i have downgraded to NF4 and it was working. problem is that the baseband is not downgraded, so i didn't have a signal.
I have downgrade from OB1 tout NI4 rom. ...and i flashed separately modem and BL because notre implemented with stock rom

Thanks, I had flashed kitkat, but then went back to Lollipop cause I missed the Note 3 lollipop custom rom i was using hahaa!
So I had DarkLord N5 on my N9005 before, which was awesome, but it had performance issues (especially when gaming). Then i downgraded to Stock KitKat using Odin and after boot up It showed No Signal, and everything was freezing and force closing. I somehow went to settings and found that i also have issues with IMEI and Baseband version, it was all unknown. The worst part is i did not backup my EFS. Any help guys please :crying:
I also have no audio playback
Im no pro here, but as i found in my research it is hard to downgrade from lolipop to kitkat as in 5.0 new architecture has been presented which they called art. I think. So it gives lots of incompatibilities. I tried the same as you but i ended up going stock lolipop for a while.
Yesterday i flashed Ressurrection remix 6.0.1 Marshmallow based off Slim roms and CM and i admit this is so far best rom i have tested. (Unless you need all fancy spen features)
I'd try to stick to anything that is 5.1 or above since great battery life.
Sorry for not much info, but i couldn't get past your post unanswered.

I had many experiences with downgrading from new version to old version with my S3 and my Note, but never had this issue. Something is causing this...
founded a old backup of CM11.. Flashed CWM and restored to CM. Works flawlessly, but still no sound and those stuff

So i had problems with my either s2 or note 4.
But afaik if u have updated your bootloader there may be no way to get back. And lack of IMEI on reverted KitKat isn't anything new. I bet going simply to anything art. Based will do.
People here are arguing on same issues as yours. Just don't listen to these "flash with odin" guys.. This doesn't work. Even if u flash the stock one.

I tried it, but still no use :c
I would not try any other ROMs before trying to flash the latest stock rom from sammobile.com. Hopefully, this will resolve the baseband and imei issue. Sometimes, the missing or wrong imei is caused by a mismatch between the bootloader and modem firmware.

I did downgrading from 5.0 (CM12) to Stock 4.4 KitKat in my S3, but never had issues like this.
Downgrading from a cm rom to a stock rom via Odin can be fine because installing a cm rom does NOT alter the phone's bootloader or modem. Trying to downgrade from stock 4.4.2 to stock 4.3 with Odin on an s3 cannot be done.

Oh, never knew about this, thanks for the info
Sorry, I meant to say that installing a cm rom DOES NOT change the bootloader or modem. When you flash back to stock via Odin, you are simply writing over the existing modem and bootloader with the same bootloader and modem if you are flashing the same stock rom that was on the phone before installing cm.
I flashed between KitKat and LP official just fine.

Hi. I got a problem here. Whenever the phone finishes install an app (from Play Store), my phone would just reboot randomly. Is there any solution for this.
Thank you.
My Note 3 (SM-N9005) is running on Android 5.0 (Lollipop) / Not Rooted.
Weird issue. How long have you been running your current firmware?
Don't want to sound too obvious but maybe you'll need factory reset

I used this firmware for a few months already. I tried downgrading to Android KitKat (4.4.2), the issue wasn't present, until after I updated my Note 3 to Lollipop. I have just factory reset 2 days ago, by the way.

The Lollipop Update was an OTA update. And yes, I have flashed the correct firmware for my region.
Try flashing the entire ROM twice with Odin with a factory reset between each flash.
Stock ROMs can be found at updato.com or sammobile.com.
Yeah..me also got same issue as yours with official lollipop rom..
After flash custom roms..all issue gone
Dont know oso why...

Not sure what you mean by Stock Ported .
Samsung stock based custom roms are in the Android Development section .
