Isn't there anyway to get more space on s4. Will removing bloatware helps to obtain the system used space???
No. You won't ever be able to get all 16 GB.
Samsung ripped us off.

Yes and no. Removing bloatware frees up system space, but you can not use that partition for data/internal storage. The S4 (I9505) has 2GB system partition and 2GB Cache partition. Both could've been 1GB for custom roms, but we are not able to flash custom unsigned pit files.
The I9500 got lucky with a chinese firmware which has smaller partitions and I think the i337 (not sure if it is the correct one) already has a smaller cache partition.
The only way to increase size is to get the signing tool from samsung, which we'll never get

Odin leaked. Samsung never officially released Odin for public use. So you never know

When I initially got my ATT Galaxy S4 32GB, it only had 24GB usable presumably all of the Samsung software using up 8GB. So I rooted and installed Cyanogenmod. My phone still only says that 24GB is usable. Shouldn't some of this memory been freed up when I got rid of Touchwiz? I wiped data and cache as instructed in the instructions. What gives?
No. The partition sizes don't change so you won't see a greater amount of memory.
Please see this thread. It's not directly addressing the same device, but it should answer your questions. Last I checked, they're working on a very unsafe alternative to messing with the PIT partition, and they're going the route of manually re-partitioning the device through a custom recovery (obviously very dangerous).
Posted in wrong sub forum earlier,
Does anybody know what will be the available space in Note 3, unrooted ATT version. Also, what after rooting and removing some ATT/Sammy bloatwares..
Thanks

I've seen screenshots of around 25GB available on the internal sdcard on stock ROM. Rooting and removing bloatware doesn't open a single byte of space for the user to use as they see fit. Bloat is stored in system partition and all user information is in the data partition. You can remove every single app that Samsung and your carrier puts on the phone and you won't free up any space at all. The sdcard has to be partitioned so that just enough space for the ROM is in system and the rest gets allocated for data. Most developers do not want to touch partitioning (one false move and phone is hard bricked), so the space goes wasted.
I'm using Vanir ROM on my VZN SGS4 (BLAZING fast ROM, btw). Notice that nearly 2GB of free space is just sitting there waiting for more apps...
Thanks doc, I was not aware about system partition. anyway, 25 free on 32 is not bad. Asking to see if I want to buy external SD right away or wait till I get hand on.
Thanks

It's been bugging me for a while that the system partition sizes are so huge, and I only get a little over 9GB for actual storage. Specifially the cache, of which I'm only using 104/2037MB, and the system, of which I'm only using 485/2717MB.
Is there any way to resize these partitions to give me more room for storage? I'm looking into making a new partition on my sd card, but that still doesn't solve the stupidly huge cache/system partitions.
There is also the issue of the missing space. As far as I can tell, my phone only has 14892MB in total, not the advertised 16GB. I understand that usable space is frequently lower than advertised on storage devices, but this is a little bit too much.
I've researched this but couldn't find anything useful. Maybe my google-fu is low haha.
Thanks in advance.
Bump.

I've been looking for a way to do this as well. I feel like I'm wasting at least a good 3gb that could be used for installing some larger games or something. As far as I can tell, there is a way to do it on another variant of the S4, involving using odin to flash a Chinese version of the stock rom(specifically the PIT file) which repartitions the storage. But it only works on that variant, and won't work for us. No way to do it on the sph-l720, at least none that I can find.
I was thinking I could reclaim some of the system partition by taking any apps that are essential to me, and converting them to system apps. But since the system partition gets wiped every time I update the rom, which is very frequently, that would be a disaster.
Hi all,
since our LG g2 cannot be expanded with an SD-card we need to be a little economical with our RAM. What strikes me first after I have installed stock Lollipop is almost 6 GB of System Data! as others can confirm, too

Is there a possibility to reduce this?

Gregor

There's no 6GB of system data, there's probably just a couple of gigabytes. There is, however, a 6GB partition reserved for the system. This means that the only way to "empty" up the space from this partition is to re-partition the device (move parts of the /system/ partition into /data/), which is, as far as I know, impossible under a locked bootloader.

Thank you Choristav - when you are right I will set this thread to solved. Can anybody confirm / disagree?
Has anyone been able to successfully resize the system partition? Running Lineage there's well over a free GB and would be cool to move it to the data partition if possible.

Sorry There Is No Tool Available For Our Samsung Galaxy S5 (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1171531) Oh This Is The Only Tool I Found But Its Not For Our Samsung Galaxy S5, If You Are Brave Enough Then Use This One , I Don't Recommend You To Do That (At Your Own Risk)

So Its Might Be Possible Using The Tool I Gave You , But Don't Go Use It , We All Have A Free GB In The System Partition And We Want To Move It To Data Partition, So That Means Its Not Only You Who Want The Answer To Do That , So In My Opinion Its Impossible . Sorry:crying:
