Soft in GT-I9301I - Galaxy S3 Neo Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I am new here, i have a few questions.
I want to change my soft in GT-I9301I. My plan is:
1. Do a root: http://primehowto.com/root-samsung-galaxy-s3-neo-gt-i9301i-easy-tutorial/
2. Install TWRP http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56085899&postcount=2
3. Do nandroid backup.
4. Install ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-neo/orig-development/rom-cyanogenmod-12-1-s3-neo-t3099384
5. Repair battery https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPMneDKqyOc
I won't brick my phone? I have phone with I9301IXCUAOF1 soft. If my phone brick, can I use nandroid backup? Is KNOX is in this phone?
Thanks for answers. Sorry for my language, i am from Poland. I don't speak english very well, but i never use Google Translate .

You won't brick your phone , just follow the steps.. I have the same ROM on the same device.. About the battery i dont know if it will work, but anyway you won't brick nothing
---------- Post added at 11:54 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:49 AM ----------
I forgot to tell you that is enough to flash the cyanogenmod to have the root included.. Just flash a recovery via computer with Odin, and then flash the cyanogenmod with that recovery

I don't need root? I must only install TWRP and flash CM12?

Yes the root is included into the cyanogenmod 12.1.. Just flash TWRP or CWM with Odin on the computer.. Then put the ROM into your SD card, boot into TWRP or CWM and flash it ( anyway follow the steps of the guide to flash the ROM)
---------- Post added at 12:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:29 PM ----------
After that you flash the ROM the root need to be activated into the settings.. Go in developer settings, go on root Access and select App and ADB, and now the root will work.

Use King Root (dxa English last version) to root not triggering Knox.
Use Flasfify to make backup of stock recovery & then install TWRP 3.0
Do the complete backup of stock ROM & everything else except recovery!!!
Advice is that you enable data compression before making backup.
Then you can play with whatever you like.

Unable to boot into CWM Recovery

Hi guys, i was trying to delete the cwm backups to free up some space, so I deleted the the folders into clockworkmod. And now i can on longer boot into CWM recovery. It will go to the Google boot screen and stuck in there. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
You have to access recovery through ADB or the reboot option on your custom Rom.
It's a known bug when trying to access it through the bootloader.
Tapatalk made me send this.
isnt the toolkit meant to do this for the user? i read it said u can do this using the toolkit, also how do i do this once in root explorer?
---------- Post added at 03:23 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:21 AM ----------
am still on stock rom and iv not managed to get into cwm yet as when i hold up and power nothing happens...
iv read this
Q. I flashed CWM but each time I reboot the Stock Recovery is back
There is an auto recovery restore system on certain Stock Android Builds that will reflash the Stock Recovery if you flash CWM on a Stock Rom.
Use Root Explorer to Mount the system folder as R/W (or use a free app from Google Play such as ES File Explorer). Rename the files /system/recovery-from-boot.p and /system/etc/install-recovery.sh. Now when you flash CWM Recovery it will NOT be overwritten after a reboot.
OR you can use the ToolKit to rename the files.

[Q] Noob - Unrooting & Factory Reset & Others

I have just switched over from Iphone to S4 (AT&T) and I have rooted my phone and deleted some bloat apps with the app " NO BLOAT " . I read somewhere that if you do remove bloat apps you must flash the stock rom before you can factory reset?
Reason that I want to do this is because phone seems a little slow so want to remove all stuff and then re-root and flash over cyanogenmod.
Also... To flash over the stock ROM all I need is ODIN and follow those directions corred?
THEN....
When I decide to flash to cyanogenmod all I have to do is Root phone > Install CWM or Loki? (Not sure which one) > then Flash to cyanogen?
Sorry for not understanding much but just switched -- starting to get the hang of it though.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
To get the stock software yes just odin back to stock , then when you decide you want the custom ROMs then the easiest way to flash custom recoveries is download goo manager and once you open the app hit the menu button and click on "install open recovery script" let it download and install , then you will have twrp touch recovery and you can flash any ROM that has a Loki patched kernel , or any Loki patched kernel , if its not then you have to patch each one you flash .
But if you want cwm with the auto Loki then it takes care of all the Loki stuff , and you can down load it and flash it in twrp.

Follow the directions here:http://galaxys4root.com/galaxy-s4-tutorials/how-to-unroot-galaxy-s4-and-remove-root-completely/
There is a youtube video on the website, I suggest you watch it through first. Make sure Make sure Make sure you download the correct stock software from the Galaxy S4 Stock Firmware section. Odin can be downloaded there as well. I have done this a couple of times, it works.

Hello,
Your post confused me quite a bit... I think I read somewhere that TWRP does not work with AT&T or is very bugged? But what is goo manager exactly? and which custom recovery is better with Loki patched Kernel? ive heard a lot about CWM... but I know there is not a major difference in the two.
Which one is best and easiest for AT&T? -- And I believe I have to use the Loki Patch for AT&T bootloader correct?

Can I uninstall Goo Manager after I install TWRP with it or no?
Yes but I just left it , its a small sometimes useful program,
If your not comfortable doing any mods then I would suggests not doing any until you are comfortable .
---------- Post added at 10:35 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:33 AM ----------
If you are stock , then first root the phone using mottochopper , then install goo and open the program (hit the menu button while in goo ) then install open recovery script .
---------- Post added at 10:39 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:35 AM ----------
Then I would download the cwm recovery , flash it in twrp , download cymod rom/kernel and install in cwm and not worry about Loki ....that would be the most painless way IMO.

If I already have Open Recovery Script ( TWRP ) Why would I download CWM? Also is CYMOD both the ROM and the Kernel? Or would I have to do two separate things on this? I know flash ROM but never heard of the cymod kernel? Also What exactly does a kernel do? I know it can effect the Network and 4g and stuff but what is the point of it? -- Does one come with Cymod built in or would I have to find that separate?

Correct, So the ATT version comes with the Kernel already and it is already loki'd (That just means bootloaded?) to AT&T?
But I see people talking about flashing to other kernels while on the ROM? What is the difference aside from the Network... and what happens if I flash a Kernel that was not Loki'ed to AT&T ?
I believe it has a kernel, only reason I'm saying use the other recovery so you Dont have to Loki or look for Loki patches just choose the Rom you like and kernel if if does not have one , and some ROMs have gapps that your can download and flash , basically they are just app packages for certain ROMs .
A kernel is ,... Like ROM = car, kernel = drivetrain
Like a PC , windows can't operate without ram, and processors

Oh, So if CWM does that automatically am I able to skip Goo and the other recovery and just follow
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmkL9atpVHw (Get CWM on ATT S4) and not have to worry about any of that?
sorry about all of the questions - just hoping to understand it all before I try.

Loki is just a security patch over the boot loader check points , so the boot loader is untouched at this point.
And you can flash any att kernel that is lokied or you have to somehow Loki it yourself. But as far as flashing a kernel not lokied I Dont know what would happen , might be bad. And also make sure that the kernel is compilable with your ROM, such as (touch wiz) vs (aosp )

Okay so to sum it all up...
Once I do a fresh factory reset and root I can either install TWRC or CWM - No need for both - and then just flash the cyn rom.
Edit: so if I just have CWM then it will not automatically Loki for me?

If you have twrp the you have done rooted , then I wouldn't bother going back factory just download the cwm file , open twrp flash the cwm file then if you have a rom that you want already downloaded then open recovery again now you cwm , make a backup then flash the new rom and gapps if it has any, cwm will loki for you yes.

alright I think I understand now... I do not have twrp yet, only thing that i have done is rooted so it would not take much to un-root and re-root. but so I could just install CWM and just flash without the need for twrp? It sounds like twrp is just needed for one way to install cwm on to the phone then it is no longer needed... is that a correct assumption?
Also is this the same thing just different method or is this not auto-loki version?

No need to unroot just , Dont get me wrong I like twrp as well as cwm , its just easier for me with all this Loki stuff.
Since your rooted , you can install goo and then use it to flash twrp without a computer and running commands and all that thru adb , just let goo manager install twrp then you can flash cwm thru twrp and then its easy as pie.
EDIT : after more researching is this what I need or will this completely mess my phone up?

[Q] lost root access

Hi, forgive me if this is a stupid question but after flashing the latest t0lte nightly I have lost root access.
How has this happened?
I've been flashing CM nightlies for weeks but fancied a change after reading up about omnirom.
Im running an international note 2 LTE using cwm, rooted with Odin.
How do I get root access back? Is it case of me having to flash via Odin again?
More than grateful for any help here!
Cheers

Flash SuperSU in recovery
We haven't yet integrated SuperSU into the package itself, and fixing that has been low priority since:
1) You can't flash Omni without a custom recovery
2) If you have a custom recovery that can flash Omni, you can flash SuperSU in recovery
3) Once you've flashed SuperSU, you can go to its Settings->Custom ROM and enable the backup script

Root goes wrong?

I just tried to root my s7 edge nougat g 935f with CF autoroot. following tutorials. Just flash it with odin and now it is stuck in samsung logo the bright one. how to fix this ? I need to install android stock ?
thanks guys . a bit sad for now.
just fix it reinstalling stock with odin. any way to root the sm g935f?
I was able to root it with CF-Autoroot, but the latest builds have changed something that it's no longer working with them.
Look for Nougat build that is mentioned on chainfire's site for 935f device. Newer than that one wont work

No problem
my supersu dissapear after a factory reset. this sucks. I just factory reset because greenify bugs me the push up notifications from messenger. ****ty app. and now It seems to be rooted but isnt rooted at all. I cant install netflix or snapchat ( because root ) but neither I cant install titanium backup because it says the device isnt rooted. I cant install apps because it says its rooted and in the other hand I dont have super su privileges.
how to re root this **** ?
what is the best way to re root the device.
install stock with odin. then twrp then root again
or the dirty way just rooting through twrp again withouth reinstalling everything ? ( in this case i need to flash no verity opt encrypt again ? )
You need to do it like before. dm verity.. format data.. NOW bcz u want snapchat working.. Boot.. without root.. login to snapchat.. now go to back to recovery.. flash SuperSu latest package.. woah rooted and you can use snapchat without limits
---------- Post added at 08:56 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:55 AM ----------
You can do it without formating a data BUT you need to put SuperSu and dm verity on SD Card.. and you will be able to flash from SD card without wipe.
the problem was greenify. still greeenifiying apps after even I delete the app. I has to go back to stock with odin and flash twrp and root. the dirty way doesnt work. now It is working like a charm ty . the sound mod is the best <3

https://download.chainfire.eu/953/C...-Auto-Root-s5neoltecan-s5neoltevl-smg903w.zip
Or
Flash a custom rom & then flash magisk

Ok. I've asked the forum in another thread but no one has replied. I don't understand. We can't be the only two people who own this phone, running 7.0, who want to root the device...
I think I will roolback and flash 6.0. Looks like there is a lot of support and threads showing how to root from 6.0.

See my above post
Also make sure you have enabled usb debugging in dev options
Also look for enable oem unlock & if you see it enable it
And also disable verify apps by adb if you see that too

Ok thank you. I downloaded the cf auto root from the link you provided. I enabled debugging and oem, I disabled "verify apps by USB" not adb.
I'll give it a go...

Well I flashed it using odin. It says "pass" in odin and took a while to boot, but I think it worked. How do I verify? Download an app? And can I flash TWRP? If so, which one?
Thank you for your help

I see SuperSU installed so it worked. Thank you.
Do you know which TWRP I can install now?

I'd guess it would be the following for g903w s5 neo lte
https://dl.twrp.me/s5neolte/twrp-3.2.3-0-s5neolte.img.tar.html
Put in AP section of odin
As soon as the device restarts hold power button Vol up & home button to enter recovery
If you miss the moment to enter recovery for the first time after flashing & your phone boots you will have to reflash the image until you enter twrp for the first time

I managed to get TWRP installed. I tried to install Lineage 15.1 as per this site:
https://www.cyanogenmods.org/forums...-for-galaxy-s5-neo-android-8-1-oreo-download/
and am now stuck in a loop. It installed successfully with no errors but will stay stuck on the Lineage loading screen then revert back to recovery.
Any ideas what may be causing this? Should I install 14.1?

Correct process for flash rom
In twrp
Goto wipe
Advanced wipe
Wipe system data cache delvik/art cache
Install
Select rom zip
Install
Select gapps zip - use mind the gapps arm for lineage os 15. 1 http://downloads.codefi.re/jdcteam/javelinanddart/gapps
Optional install
Select root zip (use magisk)
Wipe delvik/art cache
Restart
If you didn't follow the above that's why it would bootloop
Hi, I'm wanting to root my s5 neo on 7.0 and like you, I'm also and finding it very difficult to find a guide that has a successful ending
I'm new to all this but I did notice that you tried to install lineage 15.1 for sm-g903F but your device is sm-g903w. Could that be your problem?
Have you successfully rooted your device yet?
To be honest I don't really want root, I just want to extract or atleast view all my saved wifi network passwords from the device.
