Franco or ex kernel for saving battery? Please share which kernel is best for battery

There's no such thing. It all depends on your settings and usage.

So what is the best setting for battery

Greenify it.

Turn off your phone! Sorry, but there are loads of threads about kernels, battery saving, settings and the like. My usage is different from yours as is my expectation of performance. If you're not willing to test governors for your own use profile then you'll never know and no one else can answer your oblique question.
Do some reading and come back with some information about the settings you've tried.

get naptime, I personally use exlemental x just because I like the color profile control and have been using it from the begining. Both are good
I like E x because it seems more stable and you don't have to be systemless root idk if franco got updated to be on full root and not systemless root

I use elementalx with darkspice 7.5 cpu governor profile

Is only way to use that profile is by downloading the ex kernel app

Elementalx with either ghostpepper or loki.

Each phone is going to react differently so the only real answer to your question is try them all...

Download the .txt file from xSilas43 to your elementalx governor folder. Then in ex kernel app CPU > governor options > load profile for little and big.

and then i GOT 171-186-220mb or RAM so im thinking if there anymore bloatware?all of them maybe???
coz somewhere here he helps me i forgot his name but he go 130-160mb RAM usage using repencis with v6 and freeze bloatware
thanks in advance More power XDA

i do beleive ram usage of repencis 3.5 is small...creeds 3.5 is the one that has very high ram usage

Hmm..nope imo both have heavy ram consumption Creeds better with an init.d working kernel since it got very good init.d scripts included in it.
i think it depends on application that start on boot.. like dps im the man that dont want music though kinda want it a bit.. D at 1st install i got 190-240 just like mention because of built in apps try to use it D

DSP takes max of 4mb ram bro. Not a big deal. Creeds 3.5 has very minimal running apps compared to rep 3.5 and it has stock kernel. Beginners dont know how to use repencis kernel effectively, if they dont underclock the cpu and change governers/i/o or stuff , creeds 3.5 is better since stock kernel is better optimized for normal usage

Your kernel support underclocking by using setcpu or no-frills cpu or antutu cpu master or cpu tuner.
Once you use them youll get to know.
Use Lagfree or lionheart or smoothass governer with sio i/o for gaming or heavy performance.
Use smartassv2 governer and sio i/o for balanced performance.
Use ondemand or conservative governor with deadline i/o for battery saving.

Hmm..Its the frequencies mate. It ranges 312-624-832. Use 312-624 for battery saving/balanced and 312-832 for performance/more balanced and use the governor combo I gave before. Just mess around with the setcpu app. Youll know it eventually. And use the latest setcpu . It has more features and easy to understand,

Wierd. Are you sure after this change only this happens? Change governor to bcm21533 and io to noop and 312-832 for the stock or original your before frequency. Try using smartass v2 or interactive or conservative and check the battery drain.

Default settings are fine for a decent battery life. UV doesn't really increase the battery life; its used to reduce the heating when using processor intensive apps (games). But if you don't know what you are doing, its recommended that you don't change any settings.

Is it pretty much the consensus that undervolting w franco kernel on the N4 doesn't noticeably increase battery life?

I haven't notice any significant increase in battery life, if any. However, the device runs so much cooler than before.
I am now experimenting with 150mV UV. Haven't had any problems with stability or camera.

Undervolting can somewhat increase battery life. Undervolting is meant for lowering CPU power to reduce thermal heat and it will definitely increase the life of the CPU. It doesn't really increase battery life, it might save a little bit but not much.

Got a question for Franco kernel + Franco Kernel updater app user
Do you have the hotplug control in Frequencies/Voltages menu? It seems to be not there for me. If I flash it with stock kernel then the hotplug control is there but can't change anything. If I flash it with Franco's kernel, then the hotplug control is missing.
Using Franco's latest R119 kernel

Franco didn't add hotplugging feature back yet. He might add it back in the next app update.

Something similar happened to me while I was using faux. You have to flash the rom first and kernel later. If you flash kernel first and then the rom some of the features on kernel settings might disappear.
Hotplug is available since quite long time.
Nothing to do with flashing Roms.

thought I'd bump instead of starting a new thread.
what's the best settings for the cpu hotplug control? I've set suspend frequency to 384000, suspend frequency is the CPU frequency when the screen if off?
cores on touch is how many CPU cores get used when screen is touched? I kept this to 2.
now I'm not too sure what first_level is used for though. so I left it at 60.
the new app is good but lacks description for some of the settings.

Do u want to apply the 'best settings' to increase battery life or performance? And I'm using the ones you have stated, pretty balanced stuff. Keep it that way

Touch Frequency?

How do I lower my touch frequency? Whenever I touch the screen immediately two cores jump to the highest frequency available which is 1267 MHz, I have the max frequency locked at that in general... So how do I lower it, or would this not help the battery? I am trying to figure out how to lower it to around 883 MHz for the purpose of saving battery? I am using Trickster Mod btw

Thanks will give it a try with this rom, usually doesn't help me with battery life but I will give it a shot! Will report back how it goes. By chance do you know how big of a difference letting the kernel and rom settle for a few days makes?
dunno... what are your expectations on battery life?
with dorimanx kernel the results are usually more noticeable after a charge or two

A minimum of 5 hours screen on time... But yeah guess im gonna have to wait a charge or two to see the full effects.
Can you suggest a good settings combination for battery life? Just flashed v5.0 of Dori:silly:
read a few pages back on dorimanx kernel thread, someone posted good overall battery kernel settings, but wait for an 5.x update because something needs to be fixed in alucard governor...
btw STweaks app also has preloaded profiles you can change if you don't want to fiddle with the settings manually...
have fun

I went about 10 pages back, could you by chance post a link or tell me what page number it was on? I saw screen shots on someones battery life but not settings.
i don't know the exact page, i'd have to search it too...
btw don't be lazy, you can test several settings in stweaks yourself. or use predefined ones... many people find the default ones good enough but not all of us use the phone the same way...
cheers

There's a tab dedicated to voltage settings in STweaks.
You have to flip the master switch and then play with the voltages.
I honestly found STweaks to not work very well for this, so I used Kernel Adiutor to undervolt. Kernel Adiutor also has the advantage of allowing you to set voltage for all frequencies at once.

kernel adiutor + stock kernel

Hey there,
Just to let you know that with bootloader unlocked + root (magisk) there is a nice set of tunable option with kernel adiutor. With a bit of entropy and governor tuning, you get even better performance from your a2. That's pretty cool ??
Can you share your settings? Hours of screen, performance... And kernel adiutor setup

Mostly it.
SOT depend on my use and vary between 4-5 hours to 6+ hours. This is mainly due to two factors:
-network coverage (this can suck your battery like nothing)
- use if BT + viperfx for hours ?
The best way to test it.. is to test it you may have the same increase as me (4 hours sit at most before mod)

Unlock bootloader + root the phone and then just install an app called "Kernel auditor" from the Play store and tune the kernel from within the app.
