Hello,
So I recently got an Nexus 6P and been wondering, should I unlock it? Would if be worth it for the kernel and etc.
(I've had past experience of course, just not sure if worth it on a Nexus device)
Thanks[emoji14]

Thats something you have to decide for yourself.
If you want to root, use other kernels or roms you must do it.
If you are fine with it how it works now dont do it.
But i asked me the same question and i didnt regret to do it.
Im on the Pure Nexus Rom and everything works as smooth as before + a little bit more features.

How is pure Nexus ? Because I'm thinking about it but a family member is saying no point because Stock android is the best and don't need to flash ROMs, etc.

Thats like religion; everybody has his own opinion. Pure Nexus Rom is very near to stock. You can modify a little bit like the statusbar etc. It also included SuperSu for Root Access.
(Maybe other Roms are very good too but i only tried this on 6p.)
You dont NEED to flash a rom, stock is fine too of course.
Nobody can tell you if you should do it or not, thats something you must decide for your own.

Aha, got it[emoji14]
Thanks for that! (Sorry for being newbie[emoji14])
If I do go to unlock bootloader, I'll try a custom kernel Stock firmware is nice for stability and performance at the moment.
Thanks for the help!

No problem,
but if you are really new in the root/flash/modify etc. scene, i can only give you the advise to read a lot about kernels.
Because flashing a Kernel modifies stability and performance more than the rom.
(Please all kernel-fans, dont hit me for my next sentence )
I dont use a costum kernel on the 6p because im not convinced that it will be so much better than the orginal, its smooth as **** and my battery life is absolutly great. So there is for ME no reason to flash a kernel.

I see you point and I've been in the flashing/rooting scene for a few years now.
Good point.
Wow, that's good if your battery life is great and performance is good, on par with mine.
I'm sure all kernel fans won't hit you

Hello!
I'll make this quick and sweet.
I bought my nexus 4 about a month ago and i love it.
However i'd like to customize it, i've rooted it and everything.
I'm currently rocking a 4.3 custom rom.
I need help with recommendation with some ROM, i've tested a few but cant really find out what i like.
Could you guys recommend a ROM for me?
What i want is: Much customization as possible, Decent battery life, Much speed, PIE controls (or something similar to it) and maybe some other stuff what might be useful.
Thank you so much.

I would recommend you SlimBean Rom. Full of customization. PIE, Halo and what not.
I got a battery backup of 1d 10hrs with 4+ SOT , had posted this in Slim thread too. :good:
Just flash it and you will surely love it. :good:
Press thanks if I helped you.

On Beta 5 you can use Hells core kernel JWR version.. but just wait for a day or two beta 6 is coming soon. :good:
The stock kernel is also good, you can test on it and then make a call to take try other kernels.
Well I was on PAC but the last releases were very buggy so I decided to try paranoidandroid nightly and I must say I am very, happy with it! The Rom itself doesn't have all the customization the PAC or AOKP but it has more then Cm!
But the most important thing is that it is 100% stable! And has a very nice battery life! Never had one problem with it!
Oh and Pie and Halo are originally from paranoidandroid so they also work here the best!

If you wanna stay stock then I'd advise you to wait a bit longer for Xposed Framework for 4.4 to be released.

Hello, my big brother is recently considering buying a Nexus 6P and I was wondering if I can do something for him, and I thought it might be a good idea if I install a new ROM (stable and light) his new phone, so I asked him if it's all right and he agreed but then I asked myself what ROM on Nexus 6P should I recommend him to install.
So I need you guys (the pros) can give me a stable ROM other than the Original ROM, and all I can think of is Resurrection Remix but on the XDA youtube channel the guy said it's not very stable, so could you guys be so kind and give me a recommendation? Should my brother stick with the Original ROM or should he switch to a new ROM? and if he should switch what ROM can install?
Thank you
If you just want stability then the stock rom is the best job for that,if you want light roms then Slim6 or Uberstock is the way to go, and if you want solid all-rounders then jgcaap's CM13 builds or Beans' PureNexus rom are really good.
Pure Nexus is probably the way to go, it's based on stock but has some good useful features thrown in.

You have to take things into consideration like if he uses Android pay. Some Roms don't have support for it. While custom Roms are fun sometimes they lose features that built in to stock

When I used Chroma AP worked and it works now with PN
This thread is to know how many people would use marshmallow or nougat ROM if it is built. Dev Shaky156 wants to know if there is enough demand for it ,so that he might think of developing it. Obviously a dev has a limited time and would love to work on a device which is used by many people rather than a device which is barely known.
Would love to see a Marshmallow / Nougat Custom rom
Thanks for creating a Poll.
I personally would love to see ANY custom rom or this device.

Right?!
I don't understand why there is zero development happening for this tablet. I guess it means that it was just didn't sell well at all. It's a very capable tablet.
My little brother would love to see any custom rom for his tablet, thanks for asking [emoji3]

Yes please. This device needs a good rom.
why no one help us for porting shield portable rom on this device there is cm13 out there for that
I would love a custom rom
As others have said, anything would be fantastic.
Would love a custom rom absolutely.
Would love it
ill love it
Pls do it 6.0 or 70 for Tegra note pls
I would Love it
Even a 5.1 rom that works correctly with screen casting enabled and Link-2-SD working without optimizing on every boot would be a godsend.

CM based custom Rom would be a blessing. Many people stopped checking any new information for this device. They might come back if they encounter any problem with their device. If we want more people then they need to hear about this post.
Pls my Tn7 is waiting for a long time!
TKS!
Anything Anything:crying::crying:
would still be interested, my gf is using this tablet and its still going strong 24/7 any updated rom would be sweet!

wrong forum!
must love it
Hi. I'm really disappointed in this device's custom rom development. I thought that with easy bootloader unlock and kernel sources and overall popularity we would have a large selection of custom roms.
Any thoughts?
There's a fair amount of development going on for the 8/8Pro. Things have gotten a little quiet now that A11 has been released, but slowly the Roms/ Kernels are being released.
If you are that disappointed you have options. You can either start developing your own work, you can sell the device and move on to something else that has more developer support, or you can be patient and wait for things to pick back up.
My thoughts... your post is pointless, there's been others like this in the forums that are just as pointless.
Great answer, that was just the push I needed to start developing my own rom. Just wait for it.
Never felt limited development with the OnePlus 8 Pro! Btw it has an excellent stock oos!
Honestly, the OOS stock, plus root, plus elementary kernel, you will never miss a custom ROM (although it is already a customization).
The gain in performance and battery life will make you forget about it. Give it a try.
Install PPH's AOSP build. Treble.
There's also lineage 18 for treble. I've been meaning to flash then this weekend
Make a few guides on what works and what doesn't.
I just needed a completely pointless post to motivate me
