Anybody in the same boat as me and not receive the latest firmware via OTA update yet?
I hadn't received it either. I checked for it before I rooted and just decided to flash the firmware from google's site since the unlock would wipe the data anyway.
No update here, either. It usually takes google weeks to propagate these updates so I wouldn't worry about it. Besides, the update was minimal and didn't include any code fixes from google anyway, only a few items from the AOSP project.
Has anyone tested L29-C636B563?
I didn't find much info on the internet, not sure if its stable or beta..
where can i download it?

You can choose the top OTA and download, or click the first link in my other post, I don't have any info on how to install it, i don't want to take a chance that its a beta..
You can probably fallow the same how to as B521, dload folder on sd card might work.
I got update by OTA today. You can update to B521 First. Then waiting for OTA.
Did some more reading and found this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-8/general/update-to-nougat-easiest-playstore-app-t3554957
other people have upgraded to B563 using this method. some said it was stable so i decided to upgrade.
I fallowed the instructions in the beginning of the thread and it was pretty easy to upgrade to B563 from B211.
Unchecked View last firmwares inside firmware finder and i was able to select B563 and then go into setting > update of the phone and update..
I can confirm that everything looks to be working, no problems like B521 has..
Bluetooth and default keyboard work.
the phone was a bit slow after it booted, but was ok after 5 minutes or so..
no problems up to now.
Does B521 also need 5 minutes to boot into system?
Cant update from b200 to b563, get error

I have tried to upgrade from B521 without success. I keep getting authorization failure message in the end.
And if you are not able to uppgrade from B200 that means it doesn't make any sense for me to downgrade to be able to upgrade to B563.
I wonder if anyone has managed to upgrade to B563 from B521?
I got the OTA update and managed to update to B563 from B521. I have signed up to be beta tester last time. Probably this update is pushed to those beta tester only

So B521 is definitely a beta release.
What is B563 then? Is it official version? How on earth can one tell which version is official and which is the beta?

I think this B563 is still beta. So far there's no official final version for C636 variant yet.
Hi, i'm an italian user, i've a Mate 8 NXT-L29C636B170. I try to update but for each version (b193, b211, b521, b563) i have "failed to check update package" error.
How Can i fix It?

You have to download the official full version. since b521 and b563 are beta, you'll get failed to update package error. Trying googling for B321 full version. I was on B170 myself before I updated to B321. Let me know if you can't find it.

That with official and beta is like rocket science, not many knows which is which. My phone is delivered with B180 so I can assume that was the "official" release. Since then I had have many versions that I downloaded from the official firmware thread here on the forums and updated via dload method. I was always successful even though I had to do factory reset before the update sometimes.
So back to the official/beta versions question. What is the source of information telling you what release is official.
I have successfully updated to B563 by downgrading to B211. I downgraded, factory reset my phone and update to B563 was showing available in system update. It was not through firmware finder and I'm not a beta tester so if B563 isn't official why was it in my system update then?
Personally I don't care what kind of release it is as long it is a stable release. It seems to be individual as well, I had good experiance with B521 and no issues with that release but I read that people had problems with it.
Any way I'm very satisfied with B563, no issues with it yet so I'm keeping it.

I tried and tried different packages and versions, but I have not solved anything, always the same error message.
In some packages, there is a META-INF folder ... what is it?
And the UPDATE_DATA_FULL_HW_SPCSEAS package?

Saw someone downgraded it to B211 from B321 and got OTA B563. Maybe you can upgrade it to B211 first?
Everyone is crazy about Oreo update!
Today Motorola released new soak test for Oreo with February security patches and I manage to capture it
Here's a GDrive Download Link https://drive.google.com/open?id=1uEIRV1sKq0RGQTQkSWDfgoz-IAqpUL3b
It includes new Moto launcher (Finally replaced Google now launcher), new icons for apps, notification dots, new clock widget, bug fixes, stability improvement and camera improvement
Here are full release notes https://mobilesupport.lenovo.com/us/en/solution/MS126755
Thank you
How do you know it's another soak test and not the final release?

Because it may have bugs and also night light isn't enabled yet!
From the updater script, looks like you'll need OPN27.74/28 to flash this soak test OTA, and will bring your device up to OPN27.76-12-2/4
Code:
Package expects build thumbprint of 8.0.0/OPN27.76-12-2/4:user/release-keys or 8.0.0/OPN27.74/28:user/release-keys
Having a quick look through the updater script, looks like it'll check and update your boot (kernel), modem, OEM, system and GPT/bootloader partitions. I see references to Google Widevine in the modem images too. At least the error messages seem to be a little more helpful.
You can find the updater script at the following path: OreoSoak2.zip\META-INF\com\google\android\ or as an attachment.
As always, it's up to you if you want to flash these soak tests, bear in mind there may be bugs and unless you get the other soak test OTA updates, you may not be able to update back to the official OTA path. That is, unless you can find the stock Oreo fastboot ROM or try to downgrade. Or you could just wait for the official Oreo OTA to come out....
That's soak 3 buddy.
and the soak 2?

No you need the second one as well. You must install them in order that is why it is never smart to install a soak test unless you are in the test

If you've got the December 2017 7.1.1 update on your device, completely stock, you may be able to install these soak tests. However, as xantanion has pointed out, there appears to be at least one soak test OTA missing. Thus, you may be able to flash the first soak test OTA, then you may not be able to flash the soak test in this thread as you're not on the expected build for this OTA (i.e. you may be missing the inter-linking builds as again pointed out by xantanion). OTA updates check the build you have on your device before flashing, as I mentioned in the above post - this OTA requires OPN27.76-12-2 or OPN27.74 - if you don't have either, you may not be able to flash this OTA.
Without access to those possibly missing builds, you'd be stuck on an OTA build, and unless you find the Oreo fastboot stock ROM (which isn't out yet) or downgrading back to 7.1.1 (possibly risky, requires an unlocked bootloader), you likely won't be able to progress (no OTA updates) or not be able to flash the non-soak OTA builds. You'll only get these soak test OTA builds if you're part of the soak test program or someone can leak them.
You do not have to flash these soak test builds, you can always wait for the official OTA to arrive, unless you're willing to put up with the possible bugs in the firmware and the possibility that your device may not receive OTA updates.
EDIT - looks like some users may be having some luck with this OTA build?

They're still going to have issues when it comes to updating to the full one even with being able to install it now via sideloading
Only two soak test are released over December security patch in India and they both are captured and shared on forum's
So when can we expect the actual update?

I imagine it really is Motorola's decision, whenever they're happy with the build from internal testing and from the soak tester reports, and whether there are any major/show-stopping bugs still present or introduced. Minor bugs, depending on if they've been reported, may be fixed prior to the final OTA, or scheduled to be fixed in the post Oreo release if they're more troublesome to fix or troubleshoot. The soak test OTA may become the final OTA that's released to the general update channel, or there may be further OTA patches, which of course will push back the release date. The last thing you want is to introduce the Oreo update and then pull it, as happened with the Samsung Galaxy S8 devices.
So, it's anyone's guess when the release date will be, and why OEMs likely don't give hard deadlines, despite what the PR news release that's been on Ausdroid and other platforms suggests. At least you're getting a soak test - Moto G4 Plus/G5/G5S devices haven't seen one yet!
Please share the new apps.. dialer, camera, contacts

I agree, you guys should ve happy for getting soal tests.. i have both G5+ and G5s+ and no soak tests.. we'll get oreo in may..

Why moto dorsn't remove the buggy carrier name at the bottom lf the quick settings? With oreo we got that information at the top, no need to have it twice
Why my phone didn't get any farther updates? Or this is the latest one?
WAS-LX1AC185B181 is the current firmware.
Same here. It is not the latest update. Latest update is B321 (oreo).. But they had B185, and B183 updates before the oreo update. But we didnt get them that is because of these firmwares were not released in Pakistan.. Other middle eastern countries are having the latest updates.
me too i didn't get those updates....this is weird ?...Maybe we will get updated straight to oreo?
Just get Firmware finder and update via it.
Guys please, the Oreo isn't officially released, it's still beta... And These aren't the latest, there are updates like B198, B197, B203, B206, B209, B210... And yes, you can use firmware finder for huawei from google play to update, just make sure you go to the right firmware for your phone version, see if you are approved for installation (either the installation will stop on 5 or 6%) and check the instruction in the app.
Well it isn't approved.....this is weird....Just gotta wait then?
