Hardware seem solid, EMUI sucks ass, would be nice to get a stock launcher on there backed into an optimized ROM
Yep, all the above, true, but because of the unique chipset, it's very hard to build ROMs...
Also, theres a Q&A thread, this topic should be over there, right mods?
There is already work in progress for cm12.1 by me, at moment i make a custom bootable boot.img, seems working on stock firmware but stuck after boot when say "android is upgrading"...

From what I understand he is saying that once they get a working boot.img he will be able to port any rom to our device, just like when he was developing for S2.

Hi I recently think I bricked my tablet. I don't know what happend, it just randomly wouldnt go past the static Lenovo logo.
I can access CWR but when I try to flash a fresh rom I get either status 0 error or status 7 error. Any ideas? I can access my internal SD card.
Please help, I'd love you forever.
Model : 183922U

Here is what it says when I select show log (if that helps):
UPDATE:
I just fixed my tablet.
Flash this format.zip:
http://ubuntuone.com/4zKT1jqeqhR8qdGh2y4TaM
What it does is self explanatory.
Reboot when done and then see if it works. If it does not. Flash one of these roms mad for the tablet found here (after using the format.zip):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1846044
Thanks guys!
What ROM were you running? What ROM are you trying to flash to it? The only ROMs I know of for the TPT are the ones koshu made.
You might have to flash the format zip found in koshu's thread, but before doing that it would be helpful to know the above information.
Edit: a quick search on that filename brings up a ROM for the kindle fire... ROMs are device specific. You cannot flash a kindle fire ROM to the thinkpad tablet. What ROM was last working on it?

This all happened with the stock rom, I was not messing with it until I thought a rom can be used to fix it.
So yeah, everything was stock except for the rooting.

I don't know unfortunately...
I would say to flash the format zip file posted in Koshu's cm10 thread under Additional steps, then flash his cm10. Using that format zip will clear everything off... just fyi.
Have you tried to restore a backup? If you don't have one,I can upload mine. It's ICS stock. tell me if you need it!

Presenting PAC ROM Porter
About the tool:
This tool can be used to port the great PAC ROMs from any device. It's based on the guide of rishab.raj37. Thank him too.
How to use:
Make sure you that both the ROMs(Base and PAC) have the same resolution. I recommend taking CM as base. Also make sure that the android versions of base and PAC ROM matches. Try to use port from a device of same manufacturer, though it may not matter much.
Steps-
1. Place base ROM zip in CM folder.
2. Place PAC ROM zip in PAC folder.
3. Now click on Main.bat the tool will do some steps.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions.
5. Then it will zip the ROM, select name as desired and find your ROM in /PORT folder.
6. Congrats on your newly ported ROM.
Downloads:
Download the tool from here.

FAQs:
Q. Well I ported this accordingly but it's stuck in bootloop. How to solve it?
A. Use my bootloop remover tool from here.
Q. Why you recommend porting from same manufaturer?
A. Well you can port from others also but in some of them you might need some framework modding and also need to do some modding in kernel. But in most cases even from other manufacturers the ROM should work.
Q. How can I help?
A. Pressing THANKS button would be enough.

Hello i have been searching all over the internet for a recovery that works on the international D855 LG G3 since mine was broken, after days of looking for the Stock ROM i came around this installer that basically installs the beloved CWM recovery on our devices, this is not my work and i can't post on Development since i am not a senior member but i figured there are lots of folks looking for this so here you go, again credit is not mine i just found it on HTCMANIA, enjoy
Original HTCMANIA thread: http://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?t=851775
APK Instructions:
Pretty straightforward, install APK, press Install Recovery, press Reboot Recovery, Enjoy.
You tried it then?

It works on D855. Full CWM recovery.
Edit. Didn't read op
Damn! It worked like a charm on my F400S. Successfully created approx 4GB Nandroid backup.
Sent from G3
Can some give more feedback about this? Some screenshots if possible. Thank you...
works on verizon g3!....

Works on my D850 (AT&T)
Made a nandroid successfully, and could perform everything except for wiping the cache. Pretty sweet!
Wow this looks sketchy...... Locked Bootloaders can't have custom recovery and this thread needs to be locked due to sketchy APK and no source..

There is the source... the HTCMANIA OP even has a link to this page, you see the recovery working... and custom roms flashing via official recovery so... i think you get the picture, yes i am currently using it, backing up and installing Sphinx via normal installation, i don't see why you want it locked everyone is happy

That is false. You can have custom recoveries on locked bootloaders. The OG Xperia Z had a couple of different recoveries, when it's bootloader was locked.
Just flashed a zip works great

just want to give this hint. i am not the dev, i've got nothing to do with this work. the whole honor belongs to cannondalev2000. just found it while searching for another rom for another device and like to share for those who can't get enough of flashing and testing roms, as i do .
the link(s):http://drdevs.com/devs/cannondalev2000/InSaNiTy/
- LMY48B 5.1.1r4
Rom seems to get updated from time to time
0616 build up
i flashed it and it boots. attacked kernel was flashed by myself.
Edit: used it since yesterday and no problems so far. Works good.
Final edit: now supported in dev section forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/development/insanity-ethan-t3135382
cheers
Thanks for the information...

Tried to find something, but no luck. Strange. It's slim based Android 5.1.1r4, uses layers but not working quite right atm. The rom itself working flawlessly. There are just a few modification options like changing height of navbar. As mentioned in op I'm using it with latest attacked kernel. That's all I know atm.
This rom was compiled by cannondalev2000, a great dev. I used some of his KK roms. Actually his account has been disabled, I don't know why...

I think a few of us are getting too carried away with root lol. I, myself, sure had to catch myself. Don't forget that most of us do not have a custom recovery which means if you brick your device, you'll probably have to pm the devs and if a lot of that happens, they'll end up with an even bigger inbox than before root lol but my main reason for the thread is that everybody is speaking on unlocking the bootloader but I haven't heard one word on a bump'd recovery like on the G3? Is that even possible on this phone? By the way, would it be risky if I tried the universal init.d app? Kinda wanna try L Speed on this.
Lg flash tool.
We can get custom stock roms if any dev wants to do it. We just flash the img file.

Lol who's being a "donkey"?
Only the 815EU and 811 have unlocked bootloaders hence TWRP the rest of the g4 community does not have this benefit... On the subject of bumped, pretty sure that exploit used has been closed by LG...if you guys thought root took long the wait for another BL exploit likely will be much longer. I hope I'm wrong but I can't see another one being found for a while. Seems this time around LG really wants to lock every avenue down. The next coming soon firmware update will patch the current root backdoor, also the root that vnmobile discovered seems to be patched as well, although he hasn't released any details, it could very well be the same backdoor.
