Hi,
Do you think the S7 will have USB otg support to plug in hard drives and pens as I believe this was missing for the Galaxy S6 (although I have conflicting reports about whether it worked or not) and I don't want to buy it if its missing.
Not sure whether this will depend on which processor and still don't which one will be used in the UK
It will do. It actually comes packaged with a micro usb to usb adapter. He's a short vid of a guy unboxing UK version. https://youtu.be/NMrJMRd9QNQ
I want one of those

I'm pretty sure it will support USB OTG, all flagships for the past 5 years or so have done to my knowledge. The S6 Edge does, I can certainly use flash drives and a keyboard and mouse combo setup on mine.
Yes it is supporting otg. As over guy said it even coms with small micro usb to usb adapter. Have this phone from yesterday evening . First photo https://onedrive.live.com/redir?res...authkey=!AB-bEi8wadZ3eG4&v=3&ithint=photo,jpg

Sadly but version that I have doesn't have dual sim funtionality. You only can insert microsd in specified place. I think that if you want to have dual sim you need to order daulsim version.

Interesting...I think is the same sim tray like Huawei P Lite style. And on the second place i can install a sim at 90 degree.
So is GREAT news!!! All are with sim tray for dual sim but now will need to see if the TW has been activated for the second sim or not. I don think that any carrier will accept to be unlocked from software.
I atached the picture in order to be more easy to understand.

If you look at the design of that Huawei tray, it has additional cutouts for the SIM to sit sideways in the tray. The S7 manual shows two different trays, one that only has cutouts for a SIM+microSD and another that has cutouts for SIM+(microSD/SIM). The tray shown in the previous post is clearly missing the extra cutouts to have a SIM sit sideways in the tray.
So, there are two different trays out there for the S7 and it isn't clear if simply getting the dual-SIM version of the tray will let you use 2 SIMs on a version that came with the non-dual-SIM tray (I'm not sure why it wouldn't, but the fact that they took the trouble to create 2 different trays would suggest it as a possibility).

I assume the same thing. The only way to differentiate them would be the sim and software. Samsung may use the same logic board, and swap the trays, and remove code for dual sim. The only way we are going to know 100% is if we gets the parts numbers for the logic boards, or someone tears it apart and looks.

I also found a workaround for non rooted Android phones, regarding NTFS file system being used on a USB device.
Use ES File Explorer, problem solved. It can load NTFS drives just fine.
Plus my S6 (and my other S6 Edge) are good enough to be able to power up a mechanical USB hard drive. I was surprised, my past phones never really supported hard drives.
Well when I use a ps4 controller with an otg cable or the included adapter the controller isn't detected or when I unplug the cable it restarts the device? is this a marshmallow issue or a galaxy s7 edge issue?

Hi,
Im seaching for a Dual sim adapter for Defy, regarding im from brazil so the best is from ebay or dealextreme.
Do somebody know where and which dual sim adapter to buy?
post the links if you can.
Thx
MAGICSIM 28th gen PLUS is what I'd go for. Seems to be the only reliable option
hi there, do you know if this works reliably with cyanogen 7 ?
Yea I'm sure it does
Oh btw i've just ordered the new 28th gen+ from these guys www.magic-sim.com so far its been an excellent service and everything seems great.
seems promosing and good but very pricy
I didn't think is was pricey at all when compared to the other options.

Which one did you get the no-cut or cut model? Compatibility guide says no-cut model fits but I don't see how it could go in Defy without stripping the metal part from SIM-card slot.
I was looking into this the other day actually and it does seem possible. Check out this picture...

Nice! I was thinking if it is possible to push the adapter from bottomside under the metal part and then push the sim normally in holder and according to the picture it seems possible! Excellent
Yea it looks good.
I've ordered one from the link above that Rhousman posted. I'll let you know how I get on if anyone's interested?
Hi there ... yes it would be great ... so did you ordered not CUT model? Thinking bout the same.
I bought "28th GEN PLUS (3G/2G) DUAL SIM CARD ADAPTER - NO CUT MODEL" from http://www.magic-sim.com/ and it does fit in Defy and it seems to be working.

All working good here. No need to reboot when changing sims or anything like that
tnx. but I did not mean that reboot is needed. So its hot swap?
I didnt get it. In old mobile phones with such adapters the only way to change sims was reboot.
In some DUOS mobile phones two SIMs works in the same time and you can select one or another to call someone and receive calls for both. Also two signal strength bars are displayed.
But how this adapter works with Defy?
Thanx!
Hi, So I was a victim of the common issue, having a cut down SIM card stuck in the SIM tray. After reading a lot of guides and having no luck I tried my own way and it worked a charm, so I thought I would share.
Some of the methods I have read about are supergluing a toothpick to your SIM card, but it looked way to easy to accidentally get some on the plastic around the tray so I didn't feel comfortable doing this. Needle nose pliers would have only been able to latch on if I pulled the phone apart and removed the SIM card tray. And the last one I came across was easing it out by pushing it with a paperclip, but there is no bottom access in the SIM holder tray.
So here is what I did.
Using a small thumbtack (or any small object with a sharp point) I applied enough pressure to jab into the SIM card a little bit through the little hole located on top of the SIM tray, this gave plenty of grip to move the SIM a millimetre at a time till the SIM card just popped out. No damage was done to my SIM tray using this method.

well mate there are some of us who just get a kick out of doing things our own way. and like him we find solutions too.
I had the same problem with my S3.
I tried the same thing but it didnt work. The sim card got stuck against the plastic by the entrance because of the pressure on the card.
So what I had to do was to take something (a razorblade) and put it under the simcard to lift it over the plastic at the same time as I was
pushing it out one millimeter at the time. That worked for me.

It could be a mistake. Nano seems to be a placeholder on their website for lots of rumored devices. gsmarena removed what kind of sim they thought the device had and now they don't specify.
PDADB says it's micro-SIM
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=5448&view=1&c=samsung_sm-g900s_galaxy_s5_lte-a
I found this picture in another thread. It looks as if it is MicroSIM but I'm not sure. I would just like to know because I have until Sunday to buy myself a SIM on the deal I want. I know I can chop a micro down but I was worried as nano sims are supposed to be a fraction thinner than microsims and it might not fit properly. I cannot believe we have to have so many different sizes of SIM cards. I guess that's how the cookie crumbles.

I wouldn't jump to conclusions yet. That image only tells you the location of the "microSD" card slot and the "SIM" slot, so 2 slots total, since the sim card is on top of the microSD card. It only says "SIM", no identifier of micro or nano. Also, check out this clip. It says it's a nano. Wait for more sources.

Hi all
Here is my guide for Mi Max. If anyone has done the same, please let me know if you want me to delete my thread.
I tried the burn sim and stick on micro sd card mod a couple of weeks ago and failed as it was just too thick.
Luckily i did not break the sim tray, but did break my SD card as it cracked. =(
So I bought a few sim card extension from China Taobao.
Here is the link to it. It cost about 2 or 3 dollars.
http://e22a.com/h.0wJIDW?cv=AANHCQXu&sm=f26a3a
With it, there is no need to burn SIM card or super glue, just the sim card extension and a normal thin double sided tape.
The sim card extension is paper thin and the SIM tray will go in as normal, no additional pressure than usual required.
The sim holder protruding out is thin enough to fit on a soft case. but I doubt it will fit in a hard case unless you cut a hole in it.
Do ignore the Chinese wordings on the phone as my mum does not read much English.
which color is this Mi Max ?
It's the gold version. But photos seems really gray.

Recently my sim tray got stuck in my phone (G935FD) and upon trying to remove it the tray snapped and the Sim stayed. Needless to say I tried a few measures including using a strip from an old bank card to create space and get it out etc. Nothing worked, I got it professionally taken out and they gave me a new sim tray as well. However the tray is for the regular single sim version. I don't care for the second sim but the issue is now my SD card isn't reading, I've troubleshooted the card and it is in fact good and working. But I'm wondering if its the tray (despite the Sim 1 working fine) or was it a hardware problem when the tray stuck or during repair. Any answers as to if the tray can cause this?
Have you checked if the trays are facing the same side for the SD card on the old and new trays?

I just checked it to be sure and they look identical to me other than the little notch to fit the second Sim. I have a friend with a duos as well. I'll ask to try theirs to verify. I just found it odd because in my previous experiences to damage an sd card reader was tough lol. It may have been damaged at some point during my tinkering or the repair so I'll also ask the repair guy to give it a look again even though I'm uncomfortable with opening up the phone so often. If it's hardware I'll order a replacement depending on the cost and quality. If not I'll just go without an SD.
Looks the same. Yeah, most likely there's damage like a bent connector or something.

Yes, the sim tray from the one sim variant is competible with 2 sims variant,
but it is not as same as together.
1 sim variant can be modded to 2 sims variant, and you should use the 2 sim tray

Am interested in modding my Galaxy S7 Edge to 2 sims variant. Could you let me know how it can be done? Thank You!
Only the sim tray can be modded. Meaning you can get a sim tray from 1 sim variant and mod it to be used in 2 sims variant. You can't mod the phone and turn it to 2 sims variant.

Apparently you can on the Exynos variant.
You need to be on Nougat or Marshmallow, I believe Oreo isn't supported yet, and you need a Z3X box or Chimera, and a dual SIM tray.
Haven't tried myself, but:

I can confirm this. Am a regular Z3X box user and have tested it on my S7 edge works great.
