Camera shows Black screen after root - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I got my Nexus 6P yesterday and the first thing I did was unlock the bootloader and root. However I just noticed this morning that I no longer have access to the camera. If I open the camera app it just shows a black screen with the camera symbol in the middle and Snapchat just gives me a black screen. The only things I have done were u lock bootloader, Root and I changed my DPI to 400. I've tried reboots and clearing data/cache from both Snapchat and my camera app with no success.

What build number are you on. Which version of SuperSU did you use.

Sounds to me like you're using an incompatible boot.img, what did you flash? And what version of SuperSU?

This is almost surely correct. Had the same issue a few patches back. Reflash the factory image and then use systemless root, or find the correct boot.img for your version, assuming one exists.

Warning new supersu update lock the tablet

I just upgraded supersu from google play. After a reboot, the tablet locks after about 20 seconds or so. After that it is impossible to access anything. The tablet then reboot. The only pudate I did was supersu
It took me few tries to be able to access the settings and remove the update before the tablet locks.
Now it seems to work again without problem.
Don't update until the problem is solved
Mod if this should be placed in another forum feel free to move it

Well the only thing I did was removing the update to supersu.
I also connected the tablet to my laptop thinking I will have to odin back to stock. But didn't need too. I hope it was nothing... I just wanting to let people know it may be a problem

Same here, updated and did a few reboots due to enabling multiwindow in some apps and everything is working fine..
No problems here on note 10.1 and Note 2.
Just updated.. rebooted and no problems here..

Be worth reading Google Play comments before drawing any conclusions .

FWIW, I had the same issue, too. I'll also keep looking into it.
Also getting that request for "dumpstate", too.

I have looked further into the problem, it seems that the new supersu may not play well with some apps that request root access. I had avast anti theft software which required root. I uninstalled it reapplied supersu update and it is working. Also avast keep on giving me error even after the downgrade of supersu.
Like you I had the request for dumstate.
Finally I have avast on my galaxy nexus and the new supersu and no problem at all.
So as of now on the tablet I cannot have both (avast and new supersu) together

A friend of mine having the same issue with N7000.
How did you manage to uninstall update before getting stucked.
Same Issue here. Stucked after reboot after SU Binary update.
Managed to run "top" in adb shell which shows me that /system/xbin/su runs to many times......
no problem here on 5 devices

Restart the tablet as soon as you are on the lock screen tap status bar , tap settings, tap applications scroll to supersu and uninstall upday tap ok. You have to do it as fast as possible before 5he tablet locks... I had to do it a dozen times before succeeding
Good luck

This happened to me as well...had to race to SuperSU/settings and changed Default Access from Prompt to Grant and it stopped locking up...couple of reboots then and reset access on your apps after it completely reboots and settles down.....
I had this issue yesterday after installing ROM Android Revolution HD. I thought it was a problem with rom and returned to stock. But on stock I updated it and have no problems.
There's a new update with some bug fixes out. I don't know if it fixes your problem since I did not have it.

After using safestrap, Wanam no longer works to hide custom system status on boot

Any ideas to make Wanam work again?

Are you running Wanam to dissable staus on "stock" rom? (Not on the rom within the ss rom slot)

Yes I am running Wanam to disable the status on a stock rom.

There was a few of us in the main update thread this happened to.. wasn't because of safestrap for me but it seemed after reinstalling Adaway and doing some other /system stuff the icon and custom status came back and would not go away.. only thing I can suggest after uninstalling framework/wanam, reboot, reinstalling the framework, reboot, reinstall/toggle wanam, reboot, multiple times toggling the options in the app and rebooting (regular/ and soft reboot) it finally stuck for me dont know what it was that finally got it, but I feel your pain cause it pissed me off the past two days

Did everything you said must have rebooted my phone 20 times and I still have the custom icon driving me crazy.

What sucks is you know wanam is working because at least for me the notification mods were working like NFC icon removed and clock and stuff.. just the status wasnt sticking... took me forever but it did take eventually
I've done it like 30 times no luck. I think I'm just going to let it be.

This is not a troll question...
I've seen lots of folks worried about the "open lock" icon on boot. Why does this matter, unless you are requesting service/replacement of your device?
Is this a separate indicator from the Knox "0x0" that shows in download mode?

Exactly what you said, for warranty and also just OCD for some of us yes its seperate it shows in the Settings>Status screen as well as the boot screen instead of Official it will say "Custom" (Wanam removes the icon and sets the status to Official)
You don't have to uninstall.... just re-install the framework and it should be back up.

6p camera app

Running 6.01, traditionally rooted using the M boot image and SU beta. Everything works fine, except my camera app and flashlight.
Camera will either FC, just stay black and not function, or just be black and a white circle x. Flashlight button will turn white but the light doesn't come on.
Uninstalled and reinstalled. No change. Anyone else having an issue with the camera?

Known issue. I think the only solution is to do systemless root.

reflash the vendor img, that worked for me
Systemless is way easier route. There is a uninstaller zip floating around XDA. It uninstalls system based SuperSU. Flash that in twrp, boot up device. Then flash IMG, or maybe just boot.img and SuperSU 2.61. Rooted. Now no problems.
Thanks for the responses. I reflashed stock and went systemless SU 2.61. Everything works fine.

Google camera app not working

After latest Nougat 7.1.2 update Google camera app keep stopping. I've booted phone in safe mode to check out whether some new app is the causing app to crash and didn't find any problem. Does anyone else have similar problem and how to solve it?
Tnx in advance.

In Settings>>Apps>>Camera force stop the app, and then under "storage" clear data. If that doesn't work uninstall the app reboot and then reinstall the app. If that doesn't work boot to recovery and wipe the cache partition if stock recovery, dalvik cache too if you have TWRP.
Tried with restart, with safe mode, wipe the cache. I haven't cleaned dalvik because I haven't rooted the phone. It seems that front camera is not working. After 7.1.2 update I managed to take one selfie with Google app and afterwards app crashed. I presume that app must stayed on front camera which keeps app crashing. Front camera is also not working on Skype and Snapchat, because I realised that switch camera option vanished on both apps. Any other suggestions?
