Running 6.01, traditionally rooted using the M boot image and SU beta. Everything works fine, except my camera app and flashlight.
Camera will either FC, just stay black and not function, or just be black and a white circle x. Flashlight button will turn white but the light doesn't come on.
Uninstalled and reinstalled. No change. Anyone else having an issue with the camera?

Known issue. I think the only solution is to do systemless root.

reflash the vendor img, that worked for me
Systemless is way easier route. There is a uninstaller zip floating around XDA. It uninstalls system based SuperSU. Flash that in twrp, boot up device. Then flash IMG, or maybe just boot.img and SuperSU 2.61. Rooted. Now no problems.
Thanks for the responses. I reflashed stock and went systemless SU 2.61. Everything works fine.

This is the 3rd time i format my phone and until i install wanam i have no issues, but when i do i always get bootloops. Whats happens is i install wanam and reboot to apply settings and then it boot normally, i see the lockscreen and the it turns off and boots directly to samsung letters and hangs there, could hang there for 5, 10, 20 minutes, then it boots back into the lockscreen and then hangs on samsung letters again. Tried clearing cache, nothing. I'm giving up on this wanam...anybody knows how to troubleshoot the issue?

yes, fakesystemstatus was the first thing i activated...i will try to reinstall everything and not touch that
Alright so i started theming, basically just changing a few colors here and there and the same issue happened once again! It hangs on Samsung letters
So the issue is with wanam, i've been running xposed and a few of its modules for the past couple days with no issues, but as soon as wanam goes on, things get problematic
I had both wanam and gravity box running for almost a week with no problem. Last night I thought there were quite a few overlapping settings and maybe I should just stop using one of those two modules. So I unticked wanam in the installer and rebooted.... WAH!! all hell broke loose and the phone just kept rebooting. It must be at least 10 times before it just stopped by itself and stayed on. I quickly went into xposed installer and uninstalled wanam. After that it didn't reboot itself any more. I'm just worried that something might be messed up and I'll need to wipe it clean. Let's hope that it won't be necessary.
So if you're trying to get rid of wanam after reading this thread, just be warned that what happened to me might happen to you too. Then if nothing works, you can always wipe and start again in recovery, stock or cwm.
I just need to mention gravity box here because it does most of what wanam can do and some more. There is even a mod to toggle flash led on the lock screen with the home key, instead of using the volume up key. Also most of the settings are activated without rebooting. Give it a try and you won't regret it.

GB is meant for AOSP-based roms - stock Android, or close to it - TouchWiz is definitely not that. Wanam is essentially the TW-equivalent of GB.
Well that's why I installed wanam first, then I read here someone was using it on his note3 and it works alright. So I tried it too and it's been problem free so far.

I have xblast toolls installed. Same problem here with bootloop after install.
I have 5 Modules installed and it seems there's a bootloop for every mod installed. I think it reboots after the mod is run and then moves on to the next mod. It eventually boots into lock screen and stays there but it can take a while...
I have 2 modules installled, wanam and greenify. Every time i change a setting in wanam and reboot, it get bootloop. Left it there for 2 hours yesterday and it never booted back in OS. Although i have found that clearing dalvik and cache maked it loop only once and then it boots back in OS

Strange. No issues here. I installed xposed, updated and then rebooted. Then played a lot with wanam, rebooted for like 10 times. No issues.

So I got my Nexus 6P yesterday and the first thing I did was unlock the bootloader and root. However I just noticed this morning that I no longer have access to the camera. If I open the camera app it just shows a black screen with the camera symbol in the middle and Snapchat just gives me a black screen. The only things I have done were u lock bootloader, Root and I changed my DPI to 400. I've tried reboots and clearing data/cache from both Snapchat and my camera app with no success.

Sounds to me like you're using an incompatible boot.img, what did you flash? And what version of SuperSU?

This is almost surely correct. Had the same issue a few patches back. Reflash the factory image and then use systemless root, or find the correct boot.img for your version, assuming one exists.
I've been up and down in this forum and cannot find a proper solution to my problem. It seems that a few of us with certain variants of the G4 Plus have been experiencing issues with either WI-Fi connectivity, SIM error, camera and flashlight not working. In my specific case, my camera and flashlight stopped responding after root. All I get is a black screen when I try to access my camera and my flashlight will not respond. I don't want to have to break root, but is that the only solution or is there a fix?

in stock? how did you root?
Rkschuk from MotoG4 Plus (XT1640)
It would be hard to tell you how because I used several different How-to articles, but from what I can piece together, I used mfastboot to flash TWRP and after that, SuperSU 2.67. It's on the stock rom.

install the TWRP stock again and then go TWRP / advanced / terminal, type the command: echo "SYSTEMLESS=true" > /data/.supersu and then install the super su 2.78.

I just tried it and it still isn't working.
Did you use the tutorial that requires to flash a "modified" system? Rooting systemless should never require you to touch the system.
I just wiped my phone, reinstalled TWRP and SuperSU and the camera and flashlight seem to be working well. Thanks guys!
UPDATE:
I found my problem. When I edited the build.prop file by adding "net.tethering.noprovisioning=true" to enable wifi tethering, it completely disables both the camera and flashlight. When I remove that line and restart the phone, the camera and flashlight are still disabled, but once or twice I received a "this camera is busy" error. I guess I'll have to do a system restore and start over again, without the hopes of enabling wifi hotspot.
Mine s xt 1643 even i rooted my phone... But i didn't checked it even i edited build for Google assistant.... My camera and flash light not working ..
.
I got it back by installing stock rom
Running @Silesh.Nair's Invitcta/LineageOS Unoffical ROM, 03/23/2017 build on an XT1644
I was having an issue with YouTube not playing in the background like it used to, despite the fact that I have a Google Music and YouTube Red subscription.
I suspected it may have been due to SafetyNet not passing, perhaps Google is doing some sort of preventive measures against rooted phones.
I took a backup of the phone first and figured I'd flash Magisk so I could hide root from YouTube and tested again. The phone passes safety net now, but the problem with YouTube Red persists. Wondering if maybe it is just a bug in the app or something.
Anyway, now that I have Magisk and Elemental EX Kernel installed, I figure I may as well run it like this for a day or two and see if there is any noticeable difference.
Now my fingerprint sensor is no longer working.
I read on Silesh's post on the ROM page that he had a sensorhub file to flash. I have flashed this file. Proximity sensors are working fine, but no FP sensor. What can I do to fix this? I would imagine I can just restore from backup, but I like that I can now play Super Mario Run by hiding root from the play store
Thanks
I restored my backup and everything is back to normal. My experiment still didn't fix the issue with YouTube Red, so no clue what's up with that.
Still, I am curious to know what I broke and what I could have done to correct it with the Elemental EX kernel and Magisk.
Thanks,
Hello, I have a strange problem, after every reboot of the phone, some apps are not working anymore, they either stuck at the loading screen or force close. For example, Genshin Impact (game) gets stuck, Faceapp force closes, other apps like a banking app and a local provider app are also affected. Clearing cache/data does't help, only reinstalling fixes this.
Open bootloader, rooted, stock rom 11.0.2.2IN11BA, stock kernel, no magisk modules, upgrade from 11.0.1.1 didn't fixed it. Model IN2023, when I got the phone it had the global rom and I installed the eu after rooting. Any ideas what the problem could be?

Are you indeed still rooted? I get this issue if I turn on systemless and then don't reboot.
Or if I lose root if I haven't actually installed the patched image after booting the patched image.
Check to see if you're actually still rooted.
If you are then turn on systemless.

Hello, thank you for your answer, I still have root, just checked. What do I have to do to turn on systemless? Just press on "systemless hosts" in magisk settings?
