Hello I have Novathor U8500 device Xperia U with dual core processor and Mali 400 GPU.
Problem is as title says most simple games lag while heavy one are working great.
By doing some tests I found phone can't push more than 58 fps,no matter phone sometimes simply jumps to 90 then below 30 and I can't debug this.
I'm asking is there any way to fix this or cap fps to for ex. 55 fps.
Thanks.

Hmm strange.. Im not an XP user but i have XSOLA.. As i know they share very2 same hardware n spec xcept for the illumination and floating touch.. I've tried several rom like FXP 207,eXperience v2.1,MiUI and more but i dont have that kind of lag.. Usually right after i flashed a new rom i will debloated as much as i can then reboot into CWM and wipe cache and dalvik.. I admit some simple 2D games got a lag but none in UI.. Maybe your CPU governor?
CPU throttling due to temperatures?
CPU Bottleneck?
you cant just jump to the conclusion that mali devices are bad lol..

Yes it is strange, even my old Xperia X8 is somewhat "smooth" I mean simple actions like scrolling are smooth while on Xperia U are not. :silly:

I'm using CM9 and my friend U has got same problem.
Should I be concerned? So used to closing things out via Task Manager (from S3 & S4) to keep running smooth. I can't get the S5 below 1.34GB usage of 1.81GB available. Seems really high with nothing open or running.........

Empty ram uses the same amount of battery as full ram. Might as well have some things loaded into ram for faster access and so other apps calling on these resources don't have to expend your battery while trying to turn things on

Thanks. Can you see my signature ? Do not remember it..
(NOTE: I am NOT responsible for any damage to your tablet caused by this driver, yourself, your dog/cat, your drink, ect.)
(NOTE #2: Not currently available.)
I'm working on a modified driver for the Dell Venue 8 Pro, mainly to increase the amount of RAM dedicated to the graphics..
My goal is to increase the dedicated video memory from 32MB to 64MB/128MB/256MB (64MB is probably the safest, but I am aiming for 128MB), which *should* increase performance in some desktop games (I.e. Batman: Arkham Asylum).
It will be based off official drivers from Dell/Intel.
I'll try to have a version up soon for testing (I myself may or may not test it depending on the circumstances). ;D
1/24/15
-Intel Released Driver Update on 1/21/2015
-Development Will Continue with 11/2/2013 Driver
I will be willing to test.

So, A03 has that option?
As for game performance, not a lot of games will benefit depending on system requirements.

Ok.
So,I tested this little monster in 3dmark and... that changing memory gives nothing in performance :x
1 is default settings (32mb,gfx boost off)
2 is default but boost on
3 is all for max (512mb boost on and other stuff that i dont remeber :v)
As you can see 3 get the best but it cut me 500 mb ram,so i recommend 32 mb
By the way, that boost is nasty, it's giving 1000 points and about 5 fps ;p
Thanks

I'd say more dedicated memory would help with CoD, or even something like GTA IV, of which I hear needs a good bit of dedicated memory.
EDIT: The A03 BIOS isn't listed under Other Versions on Dell's site, what model do you have? I have the 5000 series.

I did a couple of Antutu tests and got quite varying results. What's everyone's scores?
With 64bit Antutu I get near 69000.
Around 67000 was the highest I've gotten.
It seems I got quite a high score then for some reason. Wonder why.

It might be related to the ammount of apps you have installed, the background apps you had running and so on.
To be honest, we can't even notice the difference between 67000 and 71000 in "real life" usage... Benchmarks will always be just benchmarks.

Yes for sure. But it's nice to have a bit of competition.
One of my friends has a Blackphone 2 and got very similar scores. I didn't think there was anything out there as powerful as the S6 at the moment. He overclocked it and got a score of 83000!

You're right, as long as it's an healthy competition! ahah
I honestly don't mind giving up 13k on the score in exchange to the S6 glass & aluminium feel... It's just fantastic, IMO.

You know what, the more I'm thinking about it the more I wonder if he actually has a Blackphone 2 and whether that score is faked somehow, as there are no details available about the release of the Blackphone 2 or even definitive specs anywhere.
I mean, if it has a Snapdragon 615 as suspected, there is no way it could get close to that score.
