Hi, all. I like to backup my phone with TWRP. I backup everything except for system image and vendor image. After restoring the backup I made and booting to the lock screen (I have enter pin to boot disabled), I have to put in my pin and am told that my pin is wrong. The only way to fix this is to factory reset. Does anyone know why this is?
been discussed a million times in this forum, the answer could have been found w a search.

Only 3 posts before this thread, welcome aboard XDA! Enjoy the Nexus6 P.
So I used the method indicated in the thread to get back into my phone which was a great help, however after I deleted the 5 files listed, I lost the ability to have smart lock located in the security settings.

I included this in another thread but thought it might help more if it had its own thread.
Problem:
SVF:105:1:2
Failed to boot 0x1000
SOLUTION:
Download: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/23255832/Atrix Unlock/AUTOMATIC_UNLOCK_V4.2.zip
Download the program
- Once unzipped in a folder open the file MAIN
- Do the repair first (option 3)
- It gives you instructions as you go
- Then I did option 1, follow instructions and chose 2.3.4
- Phone is alive again
- Then I did option 3 and followed instructions.
Thats it, easy.
What a waste of a day. Do the repair first, then reload and you're good to go.
I just noticed the link doesn't work. It was an automatic root/cwm dos program that had a menu if anyone knows what I am talking about. I just cleaned up my pc and can't seem to find it either. Will keep looking for it.
Found it!

Here it is, from the link you posted on the other thread (found it through the list of your posts):

A few problems:
This tool already has it's own thread. And it is already known that this tool fixes failed to boot errors (I mean, it is Option 3).
You should not post the thing in multiple threads.
This post does not belong in the dev section.
Edit:
Forgot to mention that I am glad you got your phone working again.
My Phone is showing following message:
SVF:105:1:2
Failed to boot 0x1000
NVFlash...
Nothing more, and it is actually shutting down after few moments automatically.
Any hope? I had this issue long time ago, and it is still there.
yeah same here 0x1000 and it reboots so can't i fix this? I try holding down the volume down and it restarts any help?
has anybody tried on bell atrix?
thks
This is softbrich. Hardbrick not fix.
Sorry guys, meant soft brick but I couldn't change the title after I wrote it. I just wanted to put it up because when I bricked mine it took me like 7 hours to find all of the info on how to do this. Maybe is better documented now (this happened months ago to me). Still, I wanted to post to help others. Hope it helps
Presumably like all of you who have unlocked your bootloader, I am faced each time I boot with the garbage page with random text telling me "my software cannot be checked for corruption". Can anyone tell me where that page is stored (partition or folder) would be thankful for any information.

Its not random, and if you look closer its a bootmenu. you can get past it marginally quicker by just tapping power button or use it to boot to recovery, fastboot/bootloader, etc.
And you cannot remove it.
You can go back to b20...
@nujackk and @lafester .. Thanks both of you for your comments. @nujackk I accept that the screen is a way of booting into fastboot mode, I just never used it, before I installed TWRP I always used MiFav Recovery to boot into fastboot. I am presuming that the screen is an integral part of the boot image and I shall continue to try and hunt it down.
@lafester as always lol your comment.
If either of you are interested I am just going to set up a new thread in "Themes Apps and Mods" where I shall post 3 flashable zip boot animations and hopefully in the coming days I will add to them.

The screen is part of the bootloader image. I strongly advise you to just live with it since if you screw up the bootloader you're bricked.
Might I suggest you start by looking around in the bootloader unlock zip. Might give you some idea where it is or if it can be removed.
Also look at older list mentioning it, I remember seeing mention of other phones it's been used on, maybe someone has more info in one of those forums.
And I will look for those boot animations. If I can suggest a superman or superAndy would be nice
Good Hunting

I know what you are talking about - on older motorola phones we did away with it - it was just a stored image in those phones. Seeing as how here it is a fully functional menu I would bet any attempt to remove or replace it would most definitely brick the phone. I gave up on it a long time ago.
@lafester .. @nujackk .. @bkores .. @tabletalker7 .. Thanks guys for all your comments - I guess my next step eventually, there is no great hurry for this, is to make certain I have a couple of good backups before messing around with disassembling the bootloader and boot image. If I ever get anywhere with this I will let you guys know.
@nujackk I note your comments re the animations. I'm about to add another Andy animation to the thread but have searched in the past for usable Superman material without much success, however I will see what I can find.
Yeah I haven't seen many that were very good either, but keeping hope alive :fingers-crossed:
If you have an unlocked bootloader do not take the new T-mobile Android system update. You will be stuck in TWRP. I did the update and now after reboot all it does is go thru the boot screen then back to TWRP.
Can anybody help me get thru this?
Try to download this one and install it https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/development/rom-h91810q-stock-rom-twrp-flashable-zip-t3681312
First wrong section...
Second I typed: "update twrp loop" into the search box, and this is the very first link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/help/h910-twrp-boot-loop-lineage-official-t3699773
Don't see Lineage and think it doesn't apply to you. If you read the whole thread (it is 4 maybe 5 posts) you will have your answer.
Sorry if this seems snippy, but with SO much useful information on this forum that is VERY easy to find if someone uses very easy search terms -- it is annoying.

You are right. I should know better and do a proper search. Thank you for reminding me.:good:
No harm, no foul. Again, I apologize, I don't usually snip, just a bad day at work.
Hope that solved your problem.

Just pull battery reboot, take steps to get into recovery (vol down power) go through the prompts let finish, reboot again... Magic
Hi,
I have an LG V20 H910-10c (Nougat 7.0) and I am having an issue that I am praying someone can help me out with. I have already tried a Factory Wipe/Reset and Wipe Dalvik/ART & Cache and have Formatted Data to remove Encryption, etc..
Timeline: The phone worked fine in all aspects before Rooting it.
After Rooting it, I had this issue.
I then tried a Factory Reset and got stuck in a TWRP Bootloop.
I fixed the Bootloop issue with a Reset (Yes then Yes).
The issue is still there.
ISSUE: When I boot into Android, I get the following message;
"LGSmartcardService has stopped"
.....and I cannot use my External SD Card (TWRP sees it fine, I Flashed SuperSU from it).
I have Googled my brains out and simply cannot find any suggestions, except to perform a Factory Reset, which I did and that's what put me into the Bootloop and I reset the way you said and now it boots up okay, except that error message is still there.
I have not put any apps on the phone or anything. It's factory fresh (except for Rooting it).
I hope I'm not violating any rules by posting this, but the page I used to Root it has a REAL SMALL downloadable file called "V20-Root.zip" that contains everything, including the Batch files with the steps that they perform in them. I did NOT use the ROM, as that's ONLY for Sprint users and my phone is an AT&T model (Unlocked and my Carrier is MetroPCS). But I put it here, just in case someone wishes to bless me by taking a look and seeing if there's something to note. I am not a coder by any means. I do understand some basics, but I couldn't see anything that would cause this sort of problem. I did NOT install the ROM listed, because it's for Sprint users ONLY and I have an AT&T (Unlocked, using MetroPCS) H910. Here's the link to the page:
https://tinyurl.com/yacdendm
I really need my Ext SD Card to be seen! I use it extensively and it would be a real hindrance not to have it! Plus this is my ONLY phone (no landline) and I am disabled and must run everything, including my home network and laptop, etc. from it and I need its space for things I have to have available on my phone to do things that I need to do, so any help would be appreciated GREATLY!
Please Help Me and Thank You!
Dave

I discovered the hard way not to include the System Image when backing up with TWRP. But it seems I overlooked the Vendor Image. Turns out all of the backups I've made for the last few months have been worthless because I neglected to uncheck it. My question is why are those two options even included when they trash the backup?:crying:

Not sure what you mean - simply UNselecting them when restoring the backup should be the same as not backing them up at all.

That assumes I knew what was causing the problem in the first place. Had I known then, what I know now, I would never have included the vendor image in the backup and wouldn't need to uncheck it in the restore. All I knew at the time was that when I had problems with the latest release and tried to restore the backups, they all failed. So I erased them and started from scratch. :crying: It wasn't until later I figured out the problem. That's why I'm warning others.

But there are reasons someone would want to back up those partitions, so a general statement saying they shouldn't be in a backup is simply wrong.
I've always read up on a new device, checked XDA, asked in Telegram groups to find out exactly what to backup and/or restore. You can't blame the maker(s) of TWRP for you not doing your research

I can blame anyone I care to blame. You have your opinion and I have mine. I have been using TWRP backup for years and never had a need for those options and don't have one now. And I have used XDA for years and have never seen ANYONE state a need or reason for them. As far as I'm concerned, your remarks serve no purpose at all except to irritate me.
@lewmur You seem to disagree with the advice given, but as far as I can see @Nimueh is only trying to clarify things and help. Your remarks come off as quite rude, so could you please dial that down a few notches before things get out of hand. I understand that you are frustrated for having gone through this, but I advice you to look at this experience as you having learned something new. And every day you learn something new is a good day.
I'll add that I have many times benefited from backing up the system partitions on my devices when testing different things. Every device might be different though, so the advice of doing research is not a bad one. Luckily for the next user you have now been able to share your experience and others can hopefully benefit from your warning.

I found HIS remarks to be insulting and of no help at all. Just how does saying MY warning is of no use, help anyone?
edit: BTW, it wasn't backing up the system PARTITION that was a problem. It was backing up the system IMAGE. How many times have you found THAT to be useful???? Much less the vendor IMAGE??

Nowhere does @Nimueh claim that your warning is of no use or doesn't help anyone. Their first post is simply about a clarification that it is possible to not restore all parts of a backup.
You might want to read the TWRP faq on how the backup function works:
https://twrp.me/faq/whattobackup.html
As far as I'm concerned, as long as any further discussions are kept friendly and respectful, this is a closed chapter.
Happy flashing.
