[QUESTION] How to solve yellow screen? - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys
Several days ago I received my Nexus 6p. The phone is impressive but it suffer of yellow tones in the screen. I have searched and I have read that it can be solved through ElementalX Kernel (including to improve brightness). Have you tried it? Works it for solve these problems (yellow screen and Brightness)? Thank you very much

Someone?

If all the screen has a uniform tint on it you can solve it with custom color profiles and kernels. My 6P however has uneven yellow tint. The lower screen has yellow tint while the top is warmer and normal looking. This is very noticeable on white background. For this I don't know if it's even possible to be fixed without returning the phone. Some people claimed that the yellow tint is because of faulty glue or screen coating. Some even said it goes away after some weeks of use which I don't believe.

So... is having slight pink hue normal?

My first 6p had a white screen but the right side of the screen was slightly yellow.
My replacement I received has a slight pinkish tinge to the screen. It's not that bad.
I've seen some pictures where the pink is severe. But mine is a slight pink.
Is this considered okay? Or is it a defective screen?
Honestly, it's not a cheap purchase, so I would RMA it if there's a pink hue. I personally cannot stand if my display has a weird tint to it. After all, that's what you're staring at for hours a day. You can also try messing with your color profiles a bit to see if that helps.
No, it's a defect.

RMA
With what this device costs is send it back too.
There is a thread already for this.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3235093

Blue tint on screen at different viewing angles

when I look at my Nexus 6P directly it is white, but when tilting it has a blue tint.
Is this common in AMOLED displays or is it a defect.
Normal.
Yes that is normal. But if you had said it was blue directly looking at it and turned white at an angle, then it would be a defect.

It is very noticeable in white pages tilting it a little causes faint blue.
Compared the device to a nexus 6 mine has little blue when tilting a little like 10-15 degrees the nexus 6 doesn't why?
Very little viewing angle change turns whites into light blue
I have a nexus 6p and it drives me crazy with its color shifting, for a very little viewing angle change it turns all whites into blue and the more i turn it it goes into a rainbow effect. According to the people of internet an amoled panel should have great, nevertheless better viewing angles than a lcd panel. Well i have to say thats not the case now, i have a oneplusone to compare the two to eachother and the oneplusone has basicly no change of whites other than it gets a little bit darker but it does not rainbows out whatsoever. But on the other hand the nexus 6p for the smallest change from straight can change its white color. Very annoying.
Is there any solution for that, or it is what it is, and take it or leave it?
Anybody might has a solution for that?
It is what it is: third one arrived today and still not the best whites but it is the better of the three. The build date on mine is 11/3.

Honestly it doesn't bother me because I always look at directly. If you really want to go postal, tilt it almost at 180 degree then you'll start to see rainbows. What bugs me is that even on direct facing, mine doesn't have even whites. Bottom is more green and top is more pink. But that's another topic on this forum.
It shouldn't be normal. Viewing angles are supposed to improve as tech improves. You wouldn't accept viewing angles like this from an oled tv.
My Samsung galaxy s3 had amoled screen and didn't suffer from this. And that was when amoled tech was way behind what it should be now.
Is this really normal for all 6P users? I think my phone didn't have that blue tint until I accidentally turned on "Picture Mode: RGB" under developer options. Now it doesn't matter if I turn it off or on again. The blue tint is seen each time I don't look straight at the phone. I even did a hard reset just to be sure. Did that accident really break the viewing angle or is it just my imagination?
My older Nexus 5 doesn't have that issue. The blue tint isn't seen when looking from all angles.
Apparently that's normal for Amoled screens.

I've gone through a few Nexus 6P devices and all have been very similar and all of them have this issue. I would agree that all AMOLEDs have a similar issue however the Nexus 6P has a very narrow band of vertical visibility. I am either very susceptible to this and/or I use my phone at a slight enough angle and it drives me nuts.
I'm coming from a Nexus 6 that I didn't have the same issue with. Sure, if you angle it at extreme angles it gets weird, but I'm okay with that.
I just got the new gold variant and it does this.. Been trying to get used to it but it's driving me insane. anytime I type or move the phone around when pressing things all the whites turn a blue tint..

Bad Amoled screen

What a bummer.. I have NEXUS 6P but it comes with a light vertical line (on gray and sometimes on white background if you look closely).. After research i found out that they are using Note 5 Screens. But really i'm dissapointed of this build quality of a premium phone. I fixed the bad colors (yellow and pink hue) with the kernel manager of Elementalx, but the light vertical line doesnt dissapear and they advice me to send for a repair Huawei VIP service (3 year warranty, just repair NO RMA), what shall i do send it in for a repair or keep it until its getting worser.
Please give me advice for this issue.
A lot of brands use Samsung amoled screens. But what does that have to do with build quality? It's obvious you have a problem with you screen panel. It's also obvious you should send it for repair. duh

Xiaomi mi note 2 oled screen issue ( Yellow Tint with Horizontal Lines )

I just recently bought mi note 2 ( Black 128gb , 6gb ) , i am very disappointed that i got it with defective screen i think, there is a yellow tint on the bottom and the screen shows some horizontal lines whenever the brightness is low, also the screen is not sharp compared to my 5.5 inch oneplus3 . however when i increase the brightness , i dont see those lines and yellow tint becomes much less . is that hardware or software issue ? is there a way to fix it without changing the screen ?
Any pictures?

Hi.
For the first step, you should do a factory reset.
If the problem still available, At the second step, flash the latest official ROM.
if the problem do not solved by this treatment. then yo have a hardware failure and the device should be send for replacement hardware product .
good luck.
Hello, I have the same issue, when the bright is low I can appreciate these horizontal lines. Could you fix it????? Thankss

Any solution? New flashing does not work - the issue is also at the fastboot mode... I thought it is a hardware problem...

Sorry for offtopic but may I ask which case/brand (link if possible ) you use? Looks like its protecting the phone nicely with the raised borders around the screen :good:
Sorry to dig up this old thread. Here to share my experience. I have the same problem as well. Faint, grainy grey lines become more obvious as the brightness becomes lower. Went to xiaomi's service centre and they offered to replace my screen as it is deem as a hardware failure.
