So after rooting my Samsung Galaxt S5 (SM-G900W8), I wanted to install TWRP. I did it from the TWRP Manager. It was succesfull. Then when I was in Recovery I wanted to reboot the phone. It then asked if I wanted to install SuperSU (which I already had). I pressed yes and when it rebooted, well it never booted. Im stuck in a bootloop. Any help ?
Thanks for posting this! I have the exact same problem man, the same exact thing and i couldnt figure out how to fix it. It's like we're related man... No matter what i do, bootloop. Can anyone help? it should be rather simple to fix im sure.
Tried rooting the phone again the way you did originally? CF AR or whatever you used?
Clear caches
Delete SuperSU using file explorer in TWRP
Flash stock ROM over the top of broken one
Factory reset

I found a fix, well its not really a fix. I used Samsung Kies to reset my phone. Then I tried installing the recovery again but this time when it asked me if I wanted to install SuperSU, I chose not to because I already had it installed and now it works. Thanks for the reply anyways.
Nice job, yea most guides tell you not to install SuperSU from TWRP if you already have it installed

Hello. I have GALAXY S5 - SM-G900F Lollipop. I wanted to root it and i used Kingo. It said that root was successful i even had superSU app, but i couldn't open it and when i installed app that i know needs root access i didn't get prompted to allow it. So after some checking i concluded that root was not successful and wanted to revert it with kingo again. It said that S5 was not rooted and i couldn't root it again (was getting failed this time).
Then i wanted to do factory reset to 4.4.2 via mobile but each time i would select that option phone would just freeze. I booted into recovery TWRP that i installed previously and did hard wipe. After that i was without ROM, and installed lollipop using this tutorial (/watch?v=r_ifFnj9tbo). Everything was fine but i lost TWRP and was with stock recovery.
I wanted to root phone again using different method (/watch?v=iBNGeppOzGI) but when i installed TWRP via odin (i got success and phone rebooted as last time i installed it) and tried to boot into TWRP using button combinations phone would just load standard recovery instead. I also tried to install CWM, same results. Success message, phone reboots and it still loads stock recovery so i'm stuck now. Anyone has any idea how to install TWRP now?
Anyone got any idea, don't know what to do here. Any help appreciated.

Just for you any ideas to why i can't get into twrp or cwm?
Anyone?
Hi All,
I had obtained root via CF-Autoroot and was using it with xposed for the last few weeks without issues. I took the lunge and tried to install phh super su, magisk systemless root. so the nightmare begins for me and i'm hoping it's an easy fix!
My system is still encrypted (I believe because TWRP can't see the system) SD card is fine. I've wiped my device a few times already and am hoping I don't need to wipe it again(prior to this setup).... So currently it's running fine without root access (How I hate android without root!!!)
- I've tried flashing Supersu zip in TWRP and it's failed - I believe it's not supported yet for encrypted devices.
-I've tried using the original CF-Autoroot method I used initially.
Both methods, it boots up straight away (no optimising apps) and after installing supersu app from playstore, it says no binaries found.
What are some ways I can inject root without wiping my device?
Please help me! Thankyou!
Maybe go back to the start and flash original FW through Odin and start from scratch, so you have a fresh phone to work with.

That's my plan when I get home tonight. I want to flash the original firmware file my phone started with (I'm assuming it won't delete anything?) and then run through the root steps again.. if it doesn't work, I'll wipe my phone and make sure I get rid of encryption this time..

I think you will only lose stuff if you do a system reset after installing the original FW.
I only have had to do that on my tab S not my Edge after coming from a custom rom as I got slow down.
Resolved: flashed original rom and obtained root with cf-autoroot.
If someone has detailed instructions for magisk systemless root and xposed, it'd be much appreciated.. i want to have the option to use android pay or play pokemon go if i wanted. Thankyou
Hi, Can someone please help, I must have done something wrong. Flashed official 4.1.6 update through twrp successfully, but lost root, tried to flash super su again (ver 2.86), but got stuck in boot, logo froze.
Flashed 4.1.6 again, phone works but no root still.
Is that a wrong super su version or did I do something else wrong?
Help will be really appreciated.
Regards
After flashing a full update you'll always have to reflash your root solution. I guess you mean SuperSU v2.82...
Use the official 2.82, found here (there's a link to the flashable zip). There's also a link to a version to try if you're experiencing bootloops.
You could also try the release candidate, found here.
Magisk all the way
1. Wipe data
2. Flash ROM
3. Flash root package, either SuperSU or Magisk
4. Reboot
I see no reason why wouldn't this work for you

Hi,
Many thanks.
Before proceeding, should the super su app also be removed from phone?

I think, I was not able to explain, Rom is already there, but I just flashed 4.1.6 update, and root was gone.
Just wanna avoid all those data backup, restore, register all new banking apps etc, it time consuming and painful.
I am pretty sure, root can be restored, when I have an unlocked bootloader, twrp recovery working properly.
SuperSU is still there in apps but can't open as says, root not available. However, can uninstall this if that is required.
Cheers

You can try to uninstall it through supersu app but make sure to keep you boot img. Then your phone will be fully unrooted, go into twrp and reflash supersu/magisk

LGV20 US996 (Unlocked NOT US cell) and i was rooted (Stock rom, i did not download a custom rom)
So i wanted to switch from supersu to magisk, seeing the top comment in this gave me confidence and made me believe it was easy, so much confidence that i didn't create a backup in twrp (I AM NOT SMART). So i went and uninstalled supersu by selecting the option "Switch to another superuser app" in the supersu manager. I then went into twrp, flashed magisk16 and cleared dalvik and cache before i made my way to my home screen to install the manager and the manager said i was not rooted. i've done a few other things like flashing a boot.img and magisk16. I also later tried flashing magisk14 as someone said 16 didn't play nice with their V20 but long story short i still can get into TWRP but i can not make it to the home screen, i would love and appreciate some help with this in either finishing swapping magisk out or (What i wouldn't prefer) restoring the phone to stock and losing root. Right now if i try to boot the phone it just bootloops between the first LG logo and the "Warning, your device software cannot be checked for corruption....etc"
So for anybody who tries to help, i am grateful and thank you for your help, i'm sorry i was stupid and made some bad decisions which makes this whole problem worse.
reflash kdz and do the root again?

congrats
Galaxy S8 Exynos [SM-G950FD] Android Oreo 8.0.0
Hello. it's my first time posting here. So I've had a successful attempt at flashing TWRP and Magisk into my phone. Today I accidentally plugged in my charger while it was in the process of rebooting, so it entered my device into kind of a bootloop. I solved this by going into Download Mode and pressing 'Cancel', which prompted my device to successfully reboot and work again.
The problem is that I've somehow lost my root. None of my apps can get root access, CPU-Z says no root available, and Magisk Manager said "Magisk is not installed". Idk how I got to this because yesterday all was working, I assume it's because I got a bootloop or went into Download Mode.
I tried to install the official Magisk ZIP file from the Manager, go into recovery mode, and flash it via TWRP. Unfortunately this didn't work. This is the only solution I can come up with besides reflashing Stock and having to flash Magisk again and wipe all my current data. If anyone has any suggestions please comment down below as I'm kinda stuck rn. They would be greatly appreaciated!

Thanks. I tried the methods listed in the "Lost root randomly" section and unfortunately they didnt work. Do you have any other ideas? Maybe I could "Select and Patch a File" in Magisk's Install but afaik Magisk doesnt have its img./tar. file.
I should probably just flash a fresh stock and redo the root process, but then my data will be wiped and I dont really want that lol

Have you tried the uninstaller through magisk or twrp then try again with magisk.
When trying to re-install magisk do you get any errors.
https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases
Also if worried about losing apps/data do a backup before trying anything.
The easiest way is to flash firmware and start from scratch again but backup first.
