Can't root anymore - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hi All,
I had obtained root via CF-Autoroot and was using it with xposed for the last few weeks without issues. I took the lunge and tried to install phh super su, magisk systemless root. so the nightmare begins for me and i'm hoping it's an easy fix!
My system is still encrypted (I believe because TWRP can't see the system) SD card is fine. I've wiped my device a few times already and am hoping I don't need to wipe it again(prior to this setup).... So currently it's running fine without root access (How I hate android without root!!!)
- I've tried flashing Supersu zip in TWRP and it's failed - I believe it's not supported yet for encrypted devices.
-I've tried using the original CF-Autoroot method I used initially.
Both methods, it boots up straight away (no optimising apps) and after installing supersu app from playstore, it says no binaries found.
What are some ways I can inject root without wiping my device?
Please help me! Thankyou!

Maybe go back to the start and flash original FW through Odin and start from scratch, so you have a fresh phone to work with.

That's my plan when I get home tonight. I want to flash the original firmware file my phone started with (I'm assuming it won't delete anything?) and then run through the root steps again.. if it doesn't work, I'll wipe my phone and make sure I get rid of encryption this time..

I think you will only lose stuff if you do a system reset after installing the original FW.
I only have had to do that on my tab S not my Edge after coming from a custom rom as I got slow down.

Resolved: flashed original rom and obtained root with cf-autoroot.
If someone has detailed instructions for magisk systemless root and xposed, it'd be much appreciated.. i want to have the option to use android pay or play pokemon go if i wanted. Thankyou

[Samsumg Galaxy S5 (Canadian model)] Randomly losing root access

Hi everyone,
I followed the rooting instructions for the Canadian version of this phone (Using twrp) on this forum to good effect but i keep losing root access seemingly randomly. I can go 2 days or 2 weeks with no problems then all of a sudden Titanium Backup will tell me I've lost root. Besides downloading games from the play store, I haven't downloaded anything i can think of that would destroy my root. Can someone try to explain what's happening and also provide a solution?
Some related problems:
1. SuperSU says "binary not installed" when I lose root.
2. If I turn off my phone, I will inevitably be stuck in a Bootloop requiring a factory wipe and reset. Restoring and redownloading apps and backups can get pretty tedious.
3. Every time I do a factory reset using twrp, I just reboot and Im rerooted again. I do not have to flash the custom rom and SuperSU again.
I used the instructions in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63382838&postcount=2
Please and thank you
Are you using the patched kernel and the proper version of super user

Yeah this how I am rooted. Flash stock back onto your phone and start with teamwin for your recovery in Odin. Then flash the kernel and then superuser. You should be good to go

Can't Unroot S4?

So, i tried to Root my GF's I9506 with CF-Autoroot.
Safteynet fails and PokemonGo doesn't work, login problems.
I Unrooted trough SuperSU, restarted the phone a couple of times but PoGo still wont login.
She's on Stock Samsung Rom with Stock Recovery.
What can i do?
I was able to Re-Root with SuperSU for some reason. Had to update the binary tho. That's strange...
Shouldnt work if SuperSU unrooted in the first place?
Maybe it leaves files behind. If you're interested, there are ways to hide root from the game.
Anyway, the only sure way to remove root would probably be the flashing of a stock ROM.

Hmm. She really dosen't want to do a factory reset. so i guess i have to hide it then..
I think there are a few options i think all of them needs another recovery though:
Magisk + Magiskhide + phh
SuperSu, Suhide
Something called iSu.
Might it help to root again, remove anu "Su" files and folders trough ES Filexplorer? Then unroot from SuperSu?
If the phone is running a stock ROM, flashing a stock ROM usually leaves all of the data intact.

Removing any root file live might break root, which in turn won't let you remove any of the other files left.
Besides, you don't even know what files to look for.
Having a custom recovery won't affect her usage of the phone, nor the game. Besides, it gives you the benefit of making a Nandroid backup.
Ty for all the answers. So a custom Recovery doesn't trigger Saftynet?
Might as well install TWRP, backup and try to reflash stock rom from there.
Samsung Galaxy S4 International Qualcomm (jfltexx)
Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE Advanced i9506 (ks01lte)
Which one? i suppose its the 9506, flashhing my old CF-autoroot for my 9505(jfltexx) didn't work.
To flash a stock ROM, you need Odin, Samsung phone drivers, and the stock ROM from sammobile.com.
OK. But i'll do a backup on twrp first. Ty ty
Fixed it! Reflashed stock Rom with Odin and now Pogo works again!
Ty a lot for all the help. you guys are the best!

AT&T S7 G930A Nougat 7.0 Unrooting Problem

Hello. New here.
I rooted my S7 G930A running Nougat 7.0 following this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s7/how-to/root-s7-att-g930a-g935a-t3410538
I actually found the guide somewhere else, but these are the files and instructions I used.
Rooting worked with no issues, and my phone works fine. Now I am interested in unrooting the device because of applications that won't work due to the safety net API knowing the phone is rooted.
I have already tried many things. There is an unroot.bat that comes with the files downloaded in the guide, but running that doesn't seem to actually unroot. SuperSU is still installed, and applications still don't work. I have also tried deleting the files using the ES File Manager, but I can only locate one "su" file which will not delete, and the superuser.apk or supersu.apk files are nowhere to be found. When trying to full unroot using SuperSU, I get the error "Uninstall failed!" I have also tried going back to the stock firmware using odin, but odin fails to install that as well.
Are there any current ways of unrooting that I'm missing?
Any help is appreciated, thank you.
Also, if this helps my baseband version is G930AUCS4BQC2
Okay, so I think I solved my own issue here. I was using the modified version of odin to install the stock firmware. Used the official odin and went back to G930AUCU4BQA6.
I have an additional question now. Since it reset the phone, any application that I made a system application is no longer a system app now right? But if I re-root the device, make the same apps system apps, and then use odin to upgrade to G930AUCS4BQC2 again it will unroot and my apps will still be system apps?
Thanks

If you flash any ODIN file, it will wipe the system partition and then replace it with the one in the package. There's no way to get rooted system changes to persist through an ODIN.

Root problem (full root not systemless)

Hi, so I was trying to get full root not only system less root on j730gm and what i followed here to rooted mobile witj twrp first(boot.img patched), then after that full unroot (keep boot.img patched) and in twrp gave command and install super su zip again and this time logs clearly showed system method while rooting, after all that I am getting bootloop. Mobile is hang on samsung logo, tried reset with twrp and official recovery both. Can some one tell me where i did mistake or where is the problem. My only requirement is to root this mobile and make super user app as system app. Even after hard reset mobile should stay rooted. Any help would be much appreciated.

I don't understand your goal?
Systemless root IS full root. Your terminology is incorrect.
SuperSU doesn't really support system root on Android 7.
I also dont see the point of making SuperSU a system app. Even though its rather pointless if that is all you require for whatever strange reason then you can just move the Supersu app to the system partition.
There is a better way to stay rooted after a hard reset and it's called FRP.
First there is nothing strange in stay rooted after hard reset, trust me. My friend use this mobile. He needs root for lucky patcher. When first he came to me I rooted it via twrp and after couple of days he came back with custom binary block option and plus he doesn't remember newly created gmail id pass. For me it was hell of a job. So i decided to root it permanently. I am not an expert though but my point was to take full root instead of systemless root. Thanks for clearing that 7.0 isn't supported for full system root. I saw here a rom stock dexoded and pre rooted. Is it better option to install it rather than stock rom?
See this link, i was trying to do the same

Like I already stated Factory Reset Protection (FRP) is already built in to SuperSU.
Just do the following in a terminal then re-install SuperSU:
echo "FRP=true">>/data/. supersu

EngineerMode unroot?

back when engineermode exploit backdoor 'thing' whatever you want to call it, was still a thing i seized to opportunity to gain root access, however since then magisk hide has begun failing me and i would like to either find a way to update magisk from v14.0 safely, or to unroot completely (preferably without wiping) as this has started being problematic. I am on the latest oxygenOS update and i used this guide to root (i originaly linked it here but apparently i cant do that, it was on github, called OneplusRoot by a fella named aldur.)
If anyone can help id really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance
Since One Plus removed engineering mode I'm surprised you were able to update OOS and maintain the exploit. Why don't you just unlock your bootloader and root the proper way? Your phone won't melt if you do.
I would like to avoid wiping if possible. I too am surprised at the persistence of root after at least 3 OTAs. At this point I no longer really need root and would rather my phone run smoothly without some applications crashing or not running due to root.

As long as your system boots, and you have root, install the latest magisk manager from the magisk thread, and it will prompt you to update. As long as you give magisk manager root access you should be able to do a "direct install" and reboot and should be up to date. Back up your data first though, I'm not responsible for your data loss (but this worked for me)
Same to unroot. Magisk has an uninstall option that should fully unroot you

Well my system doesn't boot with root. I have to manually mount something and start the magisk service.
Which is why I'm not sure how to update as I've been told the updated version has a different file structure that the one I'm on.
were you able to unroot? i think i am in the same boot right now, on 4.5.13 with magisk root by engineermode, if you were successful please tell me how

When I ran out of options,I unlocked the bootloader (wiped the device), and the new system was unrooted, i then installed Nolimits rom based on OOS 5.1.2
I asked on another thread and another user told me that if you accepted the complete zip update of the OTA prompt the updated system would lose the root, but you wouldn't lose your data or apps, which is nice, but keep in mind you are more probable to have worse performance or battery than clean install

I can confirm this is not the case, i have been updating as the updates roll out and i am now on 5.1.2 and still able to get root access through adb with a locked bootloader.

Well the alternative is another thing i read but can't find, and honestly can't recommend unless you find in too, is that you can delete the apk and the magisk image(don't know which one, this is how bad i remember this), then rebooting would remove the root.

After one of the recent updates, magisk hide started working again and my apps are no longer crashing. It is strange but i guess this situation has turned out favourably after all.
