I purchased my 6P roughly 2 weeks ago and I'm not seeing this amazing battery life of everyone else's.. The best I've gotten was 4hrs screen on time with 25% battery remaining. I've tried tons of ROM and kernel combinations, as well as being on stock with locked bootloader, the battery life seems worse with kernels, and the same with stock based Roms. Below is my current SOT with stock rooted, stock kernel. Is there something wrong with my battery? Considering calling huawei for a new battery? This is pretty **** battery. My galaxy S5 had better. I constantly check my CPU States, it does deep sleep perfectly fine. No abnormal wakelocks, I don't even have Facebook installed. The 4 hr SOT I did achieve was with greenify and amplify, which I don't think I need for a phone with this kind of battery...

Depends on a few things. Could be a rogue app, wifi wakelock, or really poor signal.
You could try stock and no apps for a day and see how it performs then.

the apps i use are twitter, whatsapp, tapatalk, slide for reddit, snapchat, instagram, open camera, and neko atsume. thats pretty much it. Of course cpu spy for monitoring, and sometimes i do notice wifi taking up a bit of battery, but even if i disable it and it goes away, the battery life is still poor. I have a moto 360 and I usually have it paired via bluetooth. I also use google now but i set the GPS mode to either device only or battery saving mode. reverting to bone stock google images locked bootloader to see if it makes a difference, again.. even if the wifi isnt draining.. still is poor. I did monitor my signal and i get very good LTE signal all over my city, so I can rule that out. Would huawei honour this request? I am located in Canada if it matters. Also i dont think its app related because i use the same apps on my S5 and the battery is better on it, which doesnt make sense.
Have you tried turning off WiFi scanning and Bluetooth scanning? They're pretty much useless but consumes battery.
Go to Settings > Location > Menu > Scanning > toggle both settings off

Yes I have, as practice I never have them enabled.

So I have had my phone on for two days now and charged back to 100 of course. Total screen on time over that period is 3 hrs.. This is brutal. Phones at 58% right now. I'm noticing this (screen shot) is this the culprit and does huawei do warranty in Canada?

looks fairly normal... looks like about 6 hours with the screen on, that's more then I would ever ask for
i can't quite tell how low your battery is from that picture but it seems to be about in line with the anandtech results.
I know that it is supposdly not needed, but I run Task Killer on the tablet and that seems to help things run more minimally as well.
Just an Idea?!
When I go to that screen I get a message saying that the information about battery usage is not available, should I enable something to monitor my battery usage?
thanks

There are supposed to be two screens of battery information. Where it says "Battery usage information not available," it should show which applications are using battery life; the fact that it doesn't is a TF bug (e.g., on the Xoom, it shows this info). Tapping on the graph will take you to a second screen that shows what system components (e.g., wifi, screen, etc.) have been used, for how long. This does work on the TF.
I'm really looking forward to Asus fixing this in a firmware update. It's difficult to diagnose what's using battery life without it, although I believe there are some apps that will do the same. Haven't had time to explore them, myself, but since my battery lasts plenty long for my use, I haven't worried too much about it.

Looks pretty good if your screen was on the whole time. About on par with what they say it would be.

Depending on your screen brightness (at the lowest setting OR higher than 60%) and what you did while the screen was on (Simple web browsing OR watch HD movies/play 3D games etc..), I would say that is normal to above average battery life.
Thanks. I had the screen on about 70% of the time. When I did, I was on the internet, watching youtube & playing angry birds. I was also in the Adobe PDF app reading my textbook. All while listening to pandora the whole time.
Also, if you don't mind it not updating stuff when the screen if off (I have a phone so I don't need it to check my email when I'm not around) you should change your WiFi sleep policy to turn off when the screen is off.
This allows it to deep sleep and it will use almost no battery when the screen is off.

Correct.
Let me be more precise:
If you turn the WiFi off with the screen, the whole device will enter a deep sleep (CPU and radio) and use much less power than if you allow the radio to stay on.

hi guys,
im troubleshooting my battery problem on this phone. just need some thoughts.
the drain is over 2%/hr when the phone is in sleep with flight mode on and nfc on.

the day before i tried this with the network on nfc on, data and wifi off and the consumption was about the same.
i have yet to try flight mode on and nfc off, but i wouldn't think that nfc would use that much.
i use greenify to put a lot of apps to hibernate so they wont wake the phone.
starting to think my battery isnt performing right anymore.

17% in 6.5hrs, airplane mode, no nfc.
the phone is definitely going to sleep.
i could leave the network on and nfc too, difference isnt big at all.
any idea is appreciated. leaning towards bad battery here..

Why not remove all the extra apps, and see if anything changes. Then, you can install one by one when things are clearer.
i would believe if an app cause the drain with the screen off then it is probably causing a wake lock.
which doesnt show at all. is there any otherway an app can drain the battery without wakelock?
Sent from my GT-I9500 using Tapatalk 2
I don't really see drain? 2% an hour is not that much. In my opinion it's normal.
If you insist on lowering it, then try the following:
- Different rom
- Different modem
- New battery
And search for some guides to lower your battery usage.
You have to experiment yourself.
it didnt use that much before. in 15 hrs i got a bit over an hour screen time before it hit 0.
anyway, just loaded romswitcher, going to see if it happens with CM too. and airplane mode on.
starting to think the battery is going bad already

I average about 0.5% drain during sleep.
See the link in my signature to find out how. I've got a whole guide.
Have you checked the serial number on your battery? If it starts with BD then it's stuffed Samsung should still swap it for free I think.
thanks for all the replies guys.
yes 0.5 drain should be normal when it sleeps.
just tried this using CM rom and it looks all good there, so its not the battery.
going to remove some experimental settings in greenify to see if that helps.

you cant say if its bad or not
1) you are using facebook - battery killer number one
2) you used spotify alot so you used a lot of mobile data - another big battery killer
3) is it with or without wifi all the time? cause signal is also another battery drain indicator if you are moving much during the day you will lose more battery cause your mobile phone change signal positon
i think its preety good for the setup with using spotify and facebook app - i got 1 1/2 hour with 50% left after a 12 hours without wifi and 6 hours without using the phone cause i am sleeping

I know about Facebook, may give the browser a go for a while! Regarding Spotify, 90% of my music is stored offline, so I suppose I should just put it in offline mode to try save a bit of battery. (I've unlimited data) and yeah, WiFi only has signal at home. I'll keep it off while I'm out.
Anyone have this issue, after 3 reboot i have this

I've noticed some WiFi weirdness since I got my (vzw) 10. While watching a video in chrome, sometimes (usually right after a reboot) it'll play perfectly fine. Other occasions it'll have issues streaming, and when it pauses to buffer, it takes way longer than it should. Most of the time it completely freezes up chrome. Disconnecting from WiFi so it uses the data connection and it immediately resumes playing and has zero issues. Even occasionally while browsing the web, it'll just completely fail to load a page.
On a side note, I won't be able to confirm till tonight when I sleep and I leave it on disconnected from WiFi, but it seems to drain the battery. Obviously WiFi drains battery, but I'm talking crazy drain, 10-12% over 7 hrs.
Can anyone corroborate this happening to them? I'm thinking possibly firmware or ROM bug.
I have the wifi on during sleep only when plugged in and wifi stayed on all night, its a solid bar. I've barely used my phone since waking up and its already dropped 9%. I am seeing a drain issue and I can't find it.

So it seems like we have WiFi issues then. I'm curious, do you have a vzw 10 or no? Wondering if it's a vzw only issue.
Yeah VZW 10. I don't know if it is actually the wifi, but I had to charge 3 times yesterday. Everything drains the battery.
yeah lost 15% in a 6 hour night. wifi always on.
I'm not even sure myself but my battery drains at a rate of 1% every 10 minutes even on standby. I've disable auto-sync, and it helped slightly but it's still draining abnormally fast.
You guys with issues on drain are you on 5ghz radio or 2.4ghz.?

I've tried both, there doesn't seem to be a difference.
I'm on AT&T network. I lost 1% overnight over a 7+ hour period. I was quite impressed.

AU unlocked set, lost 10% throughout the night with WIFI on.
Anyone who has root (obviously not vzw yet) wanna do some testing and find what the drain cause is?
I still haven't been able to nail down a fix for WiFi being unusable sadly.
I have the same issue when it comes to battery drain on wifi. You guys could try and disable the following settings

Hi, I have issue with my lg g6 .
The phone is about 1 months old but I reach very poor SoT max 2,5 h.
I check the main forum threads, but i cannot fix the issue
- I use the newest software
- greenify
- during this 2 hours I use only chrome/messenger/instagram
- it does not matter if I used wifi or data
- home app: home

install better battery stats, give it permissions via ADB.
Then monitor a full charge and see what partial wakelocks, alarms, processes are using your battery.

Hi I did, how you told.
I charged the phone up to 100% and left for 30 minutes without any use and captured following screenshots.
Do I understand correctly that the phone is always awake because of the lg gnss bloatware?
are you getting same battery life on lte and wifi
your lte signal looking too low
if it fluctuate a lot then it will take a lot of battery .
0% deep sleep
I don't mean to be glib, but the advice for battery issues is always the same (and mind-numbing basic):
1. Remove unnecessary apps
2. Factory reset the phone
None of the dozens of other tweaks mentioned here make a difference for most people.
And you can't do anything about signal strength.

I supposed that all the tweaks can barely help. I had hope that I could find some fix before reset the factory settings. In some way the phone is to be used and it is simply annoing the set the whole setting from scratch after reset....
But I think I don't have any other possibility (or I can wait for a Pie and hope for the improvement after the update)

Try to disable the WIFI and Bluetooth searching for improve the location. And then do again the test to see the deep sleep.
With accubattery app, you can estimate how"healthy" your battery is.
In normal usage, you would get about 18% of battery usage per hour with screen on, and max 1% with screen off
I made some tests with AccuBattery and the drain on screen on is unacceptable about 25-28%. The battery health is about 96%.
I use mcs magisk module with 90/80% config since day one with greenify + xposed module and after a year of relatively heavy use I'm still getting ~6h SoT (35% brightness). Maybe you should try to greenify some apps? Without root you have limited options though.
