I've literally tried everything that XDA, reddit, and other miscellaneous sites have told me to do and all of them have the same 3-4 ways to get this to work and none do.
Resetting wifi, airplane mode, rebooting, resetting network settings, restored a backup, reflashed a ROM, and went back to stock.. nothing. I also tried go into Netgear dashboard WiFi Settings and change the auto channel but that method doesn't seem to be an option for me, it's either "Auto" or number 1 through 10. Or 5G is auto and numbers in the 100s.
Is there something in my Netgear settings to get this to work? All other devices connect to my wifi no problem, and my Nexus 6P was just fine up until about 2hours ago.
what did you change 2hrs ago?

Absolutely nothing. I saw it as it happened, wifi disconnected....LTE.... "wifi connected", then it showed an "!" point along with it this time.

I tried searching and I've not found this issue addressed, but I may just be doing it wrong. But, here it goes anyways...
This house has 3 T-Mobile G2s, all with the same OTA. Only mine is rooted. However, none of them will stay connected to wifi. The wifi icon is showing up and it says that I am connected to the access point, but in status it says that mobile network status is disconnected. I can't do anything data related after it times out. If I disable and re-enable wifi it stays connected for a bit before it goes dead again. The handset doesn't go into sleep/screen doesn't turn off. Before I updated I did a Factory Data Reset, then re-entered all my information then let it update. Is there anything I can do, or try?

Being that all 3 phones cannot stay connected I'd be inclined to say look at your router... I'm assuming you've done all the obvious things like reboots, battery pulls, "forgetting" your network and then re adding it? Are other devices in the home able to maintain a wifi connection... your computer, for example? You've tried resetting your router?
If the screen isn't timing out, have you checked your Display settings? What makes you think the screen timeout is related to the wifi problem?
Well in the past on my myTouch 3g... wifi at times would get wonky after the screen timed out/it went to sleep. So was just adding that information here. Yeah, there are at least 8-9 other wifi devices here that can connect to the router just fine and send/receive data. I've tried "forgetting" the access point and then re-adding it, resetting the router, battery pull... and the same thing happens. And the router doesn't have MAC address filtering either. Can't ping google.com or 72.14.204.105 from the phone, but my pc can just fine. If I disable wifi it works as it should. Its just I only have realllly slow EDGE service in the house.

Hmm... by default wifi should turn off when the screen times out. Unless you've changed the wifi sleep policy. I had mysterious wifi trouble before on a different device (endless "obtaining ip address" loops) and the only thing that worked for me was restoring an older nandroid. Obviously, you're no longer rooted and that's not an option... but it's super unusual that 3 G2 phones are experiencing the same problem. And they're all running the Gingerbread update, so maybe that's the common denominator. I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful. I'd definitely pay T-Mobile a visit.
I've not messed with the wifi policy, but my last phone would just drop wifi completely and I had to forget/re-enter everything to get it back. If it was the update then I would think the problem would be more widespread. Going to try fiddling with the router some more since that would most likely be where the issue lies. All else fails will just rollback to an earlier nandroid, like you had to do, and seeing if I can't get at least mine consistent. Thanks for your help and letting me bounce ideas off of.
Hi guys.
first my wifi became unreliable, it disconnected, didn´t reconnect sometimes etc...
now, it´s not working anymore at all.
when i go to wi-fi settings it says turning on, then the red arrow appears, then immediately it says turning off. down there comes a message "unable to scan for networks"
i searched the whole forum, but didn´t find a simlar problem.
i reseted it to factory, didn´t help.
it can´t be a router problem, ´cause all the other devices on the wifi work, even my friends myt4G.
any tricks or ideas anyone?
i got this form a friend in the states, bought last december, he ment, in the US they have mostly only 90 days warranty, in germany we got 2 years.. is this true..?
stock rom. 2.3
Try chaning the channel on your Wifi Router. Most of the new routers you can go to routerlogin.net from a computer that is connected to the router and change the settings. I had the same problem and it appeared all of my neighbors were using the same channels i was. I move to a different one and haven't had a problem since. It will not affect the SSID or the password So all of your login it stuff will stay the same. Any WAN connected device just might lose signal for a second or two while the router changes channels.
thx. channel was on auto. changed it to 11 out of 13. didn´t help. also, i have only 3 wifis in my neighbourhood, i can get with my pc. on the htc, it shows only mine + the direct neighbour..
it seems that wasn´t he prob here...
could it be a hardwareprob? anyone any knowhow on american warranty?
the wi-fi button is almost not responding anymore.. when i turn it off, it turns itself on again, when i go into wifi settings, ist keeps truning on and off again in an endless loop....
edit: tethering does also not work anymore. when i click on portable wif hotspot, it says error...
hardwarefailure?
i found these guys who have the same problems.
http://community.htc.com/na/htc-forums/android/f/101/p/11557/49097.aspx#49097
seems to be a gingerbreadissue... perhaps i´ll try downgrading first.
so i downgraded to 2.2.1 and it worked. got to bed, woke up, not working anymore "unable to scan for networks" again
I have been experiencing an issue where wifi is not auto connecting to saved networks after being on 4g data. Refreshing the Wifi screen does not bring any results until I switch the wifi off and on several times, and then the relevant networks are shown and DO auto connect. I am rooted with an unlocked bootloader, xposed. This is not new to gaining root, but happened about 10 days after. Has anyone experienced this issue and what did you do to fix it? Any help would be appreciated.
Yeah its happening to me. It doesn't connect and when I go to wifi settings, it looks like it's refreshing but no networks show up. I have to turn it off then back on and it auto connects. I'm fully stock, unrooted. I think a software update can fix that.

Got same issue with A2017G.
How can a phone be released with such defects??? Anybody at ZTE even used the phone 2 or 3 day in a row and didn't noticed that?
I'm having the same problem, I can't get onto the wifi at my work, or at home.
Hey guys,
for some week or maybe month, I'm having some kind of issue with my device and the home-wifi-router.
The problem: There are some kinds of webistes that just aren't working in my home wifi. I tried dozens of different browers all with the same result. Some pages that don't work are amazon.de obi.de and kicker.de and twitter.com
Same thing with the Amazon App and Twitter app. They just don't load any content - with mobile data on, it works out.
All of those pages and apps work out with other android devices and also in other peoples WiFi.
I also tried the secure mode, with the same result.
I've heard, that there might be an issue with ipv6, but, unfortunately I can't switch anything on or off in the router settings.
It's gotta be something about the router, but I can't change anything. Maybe there's a way to work around that with some kinde off app or something to turn Ipv6 off, IF that is the problem?
The phone has got stock rom, no root, no nothing. Maybe there is an opportunity with rooting? Warranty is expired, so there's nothing that speaks against rooting, if this might help. But then, I need someone to help me with all that - so far I only rooted an old nexus phone wia root toolkit.
Thanks!

I had exactly the same router. I hated it, my download stream was very slow that I was ready to throw it out of my window. Unfortunately it didn't happend.
Check your routers internet filter settings maybe something blocks your device . Also check your routers wifi settings if necessary turn it off and on again. Reboot your router or in worst case reset it BUT DON'T DO IT IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE ACCESS DATA.
Try to change the wifi settings on your device. Change from DHCP to static and see if it works.
Thanks for your reply.
I checked everything, but there is no filter setting. I restarted wifi and turned of the router several times.
Static IP also seems not to work, the issues remain.

There must be a filter setting. Check the internet tab of your router settings and you should find a filter option.
I looked it up, but there is just the daily reset rule but in the filter tab there is no active rule or something that can be unchecked.
You should ask your internet provider about this situation...
Ok, so I have a us997 LG G6, and it refuses to connect to my home 5ghz wifi (NETWORK_SELECTION_DISABLED_ASSOCIATION_REJECTION=1), its done this on nougat and oreo, i figured it was something wrong with the wi-fi radio/chip, whatever, but today I looked into it more, get ready, because hopefully someone can explain this on to me...
1. If I try and connect to my home's 5GHz wifi it has the error "NETWORK_SELECTION_DISABLED_ASSOCIATION_REJECTION=1" then the network disappears completely. (Wi-Fi analyzer shows nothing on 5GHz)
2. (at this point i tried to see if it was all 5GHz networks or just my router, so i started a hotspot from another android phone (Galaxy s5) and connected to it, and BOOM, connects right away (5GHz, channel 149, 'Very good' signal strength (makes sense, the devices are within a foot of each other), ok.
3. So I set my router to channel 149 and connect to it, it connects but has very poor signal strength, despite being no more than 3 feet from the router... honestly, i'm lost now, so I figure ok...
4. I turn off the hotspot on the s5... and IT DISCONNECTS (from the home network), and then the home network disappears... honestly, what... so now i am completely lost, I just want my 5GHz wifi. please help XD
(any other device i try connects completely fine to my home network...)
(AND on top of this all, I can make a hotspot on the G6 on 5GHz and it works just fine, devices connect with proper speed and 5GHz band!)
edit: If i am connected to ANY wifi network (5GHz or not) the 5GHz home networks shows up, but it still cant connect, when i disconnect from all networks, it disappears again)
TEMPORARY SOLUTION:
Disable WiFi
Go to the service menu (us997: *#546368#*997#) (h870: *#546368#*870), goto field test > WiFi test > select 'core both'. Press start
Go to the root of the service menu again, goto FTM test > select 5.0GHz, press start, you should see a 'Start Successful' message.
Exist the service menu enable and disable WiFi a few times, and that should fix it... Thanks to: cabal06ba for solution!
I don't know the details but when I unboxed and rebooted G6 for the first time, it didn't catch the 5 GHz signals either. I've searched some and found out that this was a common issue. Some people said "restoring the phone to the factory defaults" solves the problem. I've immediately done a restore process and 5 GHz is working like a charm now.

I've reset my phone a bunch of times between updates and rooting mishaps, and nothing (not in the mood to do it again), i will try resetting network settings.
edit: resetting network settings didn't do anything...

Network Settings Reset didn't do the trick for me either but with help of your first post edit I've found a fix (long-term functionality not yet approved):
1) Go to phone and dial *#546368#*870# to enter the hidden menu
2) Go to field test > wifi test > OTA
In my case it was disabled and enabling solved the problem! (actually I don't even have a clue what this setting is exactly for, found out through trial and error)
3) Then went one step back, entered FTM test, set 5GHz, started and boom, "start successful"! (before it had failed)
4) Finally I went back to regular WiFi-Menu, was switched off so had to turn it back on, no networks, off an on again, 5Ghz was back and still is after several reboots + resetting network settings once again to double check.
Hope that works for others as well!
Don't have an WiFi hotspots that are 5ghz near me now, I will test later, but I have tried using the WiFi test to enable 5ghz before and it didn't work
Edit: Well it said start successful, so hopefully it worked (BTW if you are on a us997 device replace the 870 code in the number with 997)
Edit 2: Devcheck reports '5Ghz support: yes', previously it reported no. Thanks!
Edit 3: Still does not stay after disabling WiFi
Also Even after a factory reset, still stuck on 2.4G
(Cant attach image for some reason, Error 500)
Without a registered SIM card, wifi works at the lowest common denominator on the G6: 2,4ghz channels up to 11 and 5ghz 36 to 48.
So where mobile signals are too weak, wifi is also limited.

I have a registered SIM, I'm on Verizon, Mobile signal is weak everywhere but standing outside a tower because its Verizon...
Once the phone had been registered with the provider, wifi is fully supported even w/o mobile network. Provided the SIM stays in and you don't perform a factory reset.
I had to get a nano sim in order to use my G6. It "unlocked" my G6's wifi, but i continued to use my trusty S5 for a while, so the G6 reverted to bad habits.
Part of the G6's antennae are in the metal frame, but i don't know which ones. These work best while kepping gripped, with no insulating case. While not bridging them all electrically with your hand, which is no good.
The first device with frame antennae, the Iphone 4 had to be modified for this reason. The first batch required the use of a rubber case or frame.
In my case, 5GHz did not work as long as the bootloader was unlocked. Even after I reinstalled the original OS via LG Bridge / Repair. Once I re-locked the Bootloader again, the LG6 connected to 5GHz.
I hope there is a way around this. Probably this behaviour don't apply to custom roms.

I'm still having the same issues, doesn't matter if it's stock ROM or custom , really don't want to relock my bootloader.
