Yes, known. This post is all about informed information from Sony UK on twitter (although we shouldn't hold it to gospel as they have been wrong before), thank you!
Guys, Marshmallow for z3plus is certified

Perhaps,*yesterday’s reported*release date of 7 March is true after all. If this firmware is the official final release, then expect the same build number to appear on the Xperia Z5 series as well as the Xperia Z4 Tablet.
Sent from my E6683 using Tapatalk
What the Hell, Sony launch a flagship that has got crap load of fundamental issues leave us in the lurch by not providing us updates (even to the current build) pretty much three months. So our only hopes was to wait for MM which was previously announced for mid this month and now 7 March, before we know it, it will be Mid to and of March.
Sony could at least do us a favour and release a bug fix firmware for Lollipop to see us through, instead of all of us feeling like we have been dumped on, after purchasing their flagship. I have been with Sony since the Xperia Z launch and I am now of the opinion the Z5 will be the last Sony
(I am not the only who feel this way, some have already jumped ship. And Sony wonder why their mobile business is failing) really Sony it's called support.

Awesome that we are still getting the update. :good:
The Z is one of the best supported devices by Sony. I was happy with this unbelievable phone for 18 month and just bought an Z3 as a support for Sony great work. Keep it up
If I'm happy? yes.
But too bad we gonna get it about a year after the official release, just like every Android update =\

4.4.4 released the 19th of June. We got it the beginning of September, well ahead of many other OEM's devices. Less than 3 months to bring up, produce, test, certify and release. Great going by Sony.
They could promise to support this device for the next 5 years and some people would still be negative.

How about UI?
Its really a great news indeed. Thankful to Sony for their continuous support to Z especially.
Google's Android 5.0 Lollipop is completely a new UI, well known as Material design. Sony and other OEMs will build their own Stock ROM and interface. Now my question is, which may be too early to ask but yet a thought came in.. Will they retain L's material design? or they going to continue with their UI.
Well time can answer, will wait and see!

Have patience or head over to the firmware made for every Z2 and flash it.
This is not the place for you to cry!!!!!
Here we mod for our own use as niabloc did for all of us.
Damn, I thought that D6502's lolipop is available!
Now Android 5 has some bugs, so I think the update will be delayed.
Absolutely. The update which was rolled out is not at all the final firmware if it was it could have been rolled to other regions also since india is always one of the first countries where sony starts rolling new firmware. I think it safe to assume we will get the update only in april.
Maybe sony noticed the x-reality bug and stopped the rollout..
Sent from my D6502 using Tapatalk
I updated with Nordic Lollipop firmware and found out that I could not search anything on Walkman App (I used stock xperia keyboard with THAI and US layout). I think there might still be some problems with non-latin writing regions. Now, I'm back to KitKat.
Anyway, don't worry about getting the update. I last to get is always Japanese variant.
I don't understand why some of you fail to READ posts in a forum.. There is a D6502 patch available for the prerooted fw provided by niaboc79.. Plus Search bar in walkman works fine. Make a fresh install to avoid bugs like that. Only problem in Lp update is XR and Super vivid files are missing. Apart from that, I have zero issues. Since I am on UB, I don't have to worry about it, though since most of you guys like to stay on LB, you can flash the mod in themes section which fixes the XR issue.. And there won't be any changes in the Indian update unless there is a change in the build number, which is very highly unlikely.. So stop thinking that there are bugs and it should be fixed. Read more guys, read before complain..

To be honest releasing the FW in just 2 regions doesn't seem like a roll out to me, more like a test run. and maybe when the actual roll out happens next week india will be the 1st one in that to receive it. and even you guys didnt actually get it. just used a different ftf to flash. that does not count

this comment was for Z3 which saw multiple regions receiving the update last week, but even that stopped after tuesday and no new regions received it since Wednesday that i know of. was hoping even z2 might start receiving at the beginning of this week, but seems like sony has made it a habit of going back on their word repeatedly.

Great news for all Sony users, what's more the M2 series will jump directly to 5.1. Hopefully all the people who complain about Sony and their updates will stop...
As it's not clear how the Z2 is concerned, let me clarify by quoting this :

Ok guys, since we're all waiting in here, seemed like a good idea to start this thread... If anyone has any 'good' news they'd like to share about the update, please do so here
Also, when the update is out, would be cool to have everyone post their comments and experiences in this thread, keeping it tight!
At this point, we don't seem to have anything set in stone on when this update is coming, I'm just hoping on a couple of good fixes with the update, like the auto brightness issue, camera optimisations, smoothness/lag issues etc..
What do you guys hope to get to see in the new update?
I hope it wont take long.
Misleading title
I'm kinda happy with my Z5 so far (I encounter bugs and issues here and there though). I'm a little bit less impressed with Sony when it comes to fixing bugs and releasing updates.
Mashmallow release date: October 5, 2015
October... November... December... 1/2 January... still no release date. I'm not talking about the actual ROM, just about a release date... (January? February?)
And I'm pretty sure they received the Marshmallow sources way before October 5th and they use a pretty-near stock ROM. What's taking so long compared to, for example, Motorola or LG (already on Marshmallow)? I mean, yeah the KitKat -> Lollipop transition was pretty steep, with a lot of new code, but Marshmallow and Lollipop are close cousins, use the same design, ART runtime, etc.
Or maybe it's just me; After using custom roms for years, and not having to wait that long after a manufacturer to update its phones, I became impatient :|
At least Sony update their phones I'm happy to wait when it comes it comes I'm tired of expecting. We had 2 year updates with the original XZ so I'm more than happy
Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk
I don't understand why the Z3 series has the Marshmallow concept and Z5 doesn't.
Waiting is okay for me, as long as the update brings something big, like new feautres. But at least Sony should tell us when they're going to release Marshmallow - it's now a bit long time already.
I hope to see new redesigned UI as current one is really boring and these colorfull icons in menus are no longer elegant to be honest, it does not look consistent to me any longer.
Camera blur fix and low light improvements along with 4K 60fps and intelligent stady shot are expected.
Battery life for sure needs to be improved as well as lags and response of the phone.
Bug fixes please.

It was, like, a month ago... Nothing new.
I have marshmallow on my 6P and I tried the concept on the Z3 and it's not that much of a change. It does bring native fingerprint scanner support that hopefully Sony will bring forward with their own scanner. Also adopted SD storage with it's a bit of a mess on its own.
Another thing I've noticed, because app uptake for new versions of android is slow (right now about 5% of people are on marshmallow) there's a lot of bugs to be ironed out by devs at the beginning therefore IMHO is much better to get onto the new big releases a few months later after Google puts them out.
I think Sony does a fine job with all this. By the time they came out with Lollipop most bugs had been ironed out and they quickly brought it up to 5.1.1.
Sony wants to be the first manufacturer (besides Google) to release Android 7.1.1 Nougat
Sony Xperia X Performance-5
Sony aims to be the first manufacturer outside of Google to release Android 7.1.1 Nougat. According to Xperia Blog, Sony’s developer team has stated that issuing Android 7.1.1 is its “number one priority†and that “if you spot any other vendor (excluding Google) releasing this faster than us, prepare your rotten tomatoes!â€
Android 7.1.1 was recently released on December 5 for the Google Pixel phones and Nexus devices, and Google made the source code available to manufacturers via the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) on the same day. When exactly Sony intends to release its take on Android 7.1.1, and to which devices, isn’t yet known.
Sony was previously one of the first manufacturers to roll out the Android 7.0 Nougat software, bringing a beta build of it to its Xperia X Performance handset on November 2. Sony has already confirmed that the Android Nougat update will at some stage roll out to its Xperia X and Z5 series, as well as the Z3+ and Z4 Tablet.
Do you think Sony will be the next manufacturer to release an Android 7.1.1 Nougat build? Give us your take in the comments.

Well, the current flagship is another phone. Which already has 7.0. The current flagship is always the first to receive an Android update.
And if they are so sure they will be the first it means the update is basically ready and will come very soon.
The owners of the z5 and others.. with Android they should be happy they will probably receive a Nougat update.. Eventually.. Sometime in the future..

I would say the others will get it soon, but it's my guess though. I think they learned the lesson with MM deployment being the 4th to release it and, for some devices, having to retract and fix some more bugs. The negative reviews might have costed them a lot, and they should know those figures.
