Nexus 7 stucked at Google screen after trying to unroot ..help! - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I was trying to unroot & flash stock image on my Nexus 7 2013 WIFI using Nexus toolkit. The process didn't finish successfully during the cmd process (couldn't remember what's the error command now). I remember window came up with error "fastboot.exe not responding" and just closed the process.
Now, my tablet won't boot past the Google screen(with lock icon) . What should I do? Little freaked out here...Appreciate your help!

This is the Nexus 7 2012 forum, go on the N7 2013 forum with your question. I'd suggest flashing TWRP via fastboot (get minimal adb and fastboot from xda). Then just flash a custom ROM or flash stock images yourself. Not rooting broke it but probably the stock image didn't get flashed properly.

[Q] Nexus root toolkit: back to stock no response

Short version first: I am trying to use the "back to stock" feature of Nexus Root Toolkit to flash a factory ROM to a soft-bricked Nexus 4. I get to a Window that says it is "booting up your freshly flashed stock device" but then nothing at all happens.
Longer story:
Today I used the Nexus Root Toolkit (NRT) to unlock and root my Nexus 4. NRT is great software and helped me through all the stages.
After I rooted successfully and restored my apps etc, I tried using an app called custom android font switcher to achieve some language related aims (installing Khmer font). Anyway, straight after that the phone restarted and I have been stuck at the X logo ever since (hours).
Now I've gone back to NRT to try and use its "back to stock" feature to recover my soft-bricked device. My phone is in bootloader mode. I have downloaded the appropriate factory image direct from google, pointed NRT to this. It gets past the next stage (hashcheck). Then it say please be patient while your file is extracted. Then it says checking fastboot status and finds the device connected. Then I press OK to flash the device. It opens a new command window titled "flashstock.bat" that says it is "booting up your freshly flashed stock device, be patient etc. However, nothing else happens either with this window or at the phone. There is no further action, even after 20-30mins. I've tried this several times.
Can anyone suggest anything I could do to help the process complete? Should NRT work for a Nexus 4, or do I have to look instead at adb / fastboot?
Found solution
Found solution, feel silly but am posting it here in case it helps someone else:
The factory image file I had downloaded from Google should have had a .TGZ extension but had been saved with a .TAR extension by my download manager (Internet Download Manager).
When I renamed the file, the process completed successfully. I can only assume that NRT "thought" it could unzip the TAR file, but could not actually extract any content out of it.
All the best.

Install adb in your pc and learn how to use fastboot commands.
It is easy and safe to mess with your phone and future android phones you might buy.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
All you really needed to do was fastboot flash the system img. The font you flashed was installed there, then wipe cache and reboot.

[Q] Failed Kit Kat OTA update on rooted Nexus 7 Wifi - stuck on loading animation

I stupidly started the OTA update on my rooted device and it failed. Now I am stuck at the 4 circles animation after the Google logo.
I've tried following the guide to flashing a factory image with fastboot / return to stuck but at the step where I'm supposed to be able to list devices (step 3 of driver installation), no devices are listed.
In my Device Manager, the Nexus 7 is listed as MTP USB Device with a yellow warning triangle over the icon.
I've gone over the installation instructions many times and repeated the process 4 times.
What else can I do?
Now I see Android Device and under that Android Bootloader Interface in my Device Manager (using Windows 8) when I am in fastboot.
I tried updating the driver per instructions (although it only has instructions for up to Windows 7) and the message says that I have the most updated driver already.
However, my device is not listed once I try the command "adb devices"
I guess I am in "driver hell" but what how do I fix this? I've tried installing and uninstalling everything multiple times.
My N7 was rooted and has CWM. (Yes I know I know that I shouldn't have done OTA but I made a mistake.)
I had a similar problem, though on mine the installer ran after I said not to. Afterward my tablet would start up but stay on the four pulsing circles. I tried waiting and after an hour figured that wasn't going to work.
This is how I got my tablet working again. Mine is the wi-fi 2012 version. I first followed that same guide as you and it wouldn't work. So I tried a diffrent way.
after step 8 on that Flashing a Factory Image with fastboot / return to stock guide, installing the "Google USB Driver",
Download and install the Nexus Root Toolkit from Wugfresh (can't post links yet).
Set the tablet as the Nexus 7 (Wi-Fi Tablet) and Android build 4.3.0 JWR66Y
Then Flash Stock and Unroot under Back to Stock with Soft-Bricked/Bootloop chosen.
I chose the same factory image that I had set my tablet as, 4.3.0 JWR66Y.
Once it ran I was back on 4.3.0 and had a working tablet again.

Download and install Nexus Root Toolkit.
It comes with several ADB drivers and shows information about that.

Nexus 7 2012 Hard brick after downgrade?

Hello guys! I come now to the point ..
I bought the Nexus 7 WiFi only for in-car use .. When I received it, had the CyanogenMod 12.1! so I decided to install the rom AUTODROID 1.2! I downloaded the ROM, install the .zip TWRP (latest version) and so I had a bootloop .. Restore backup done previously with TWRP! I am looking online and I see that making the dowgrade from lollipop kitkat, first I had to flash the rom original KitKat!
ADB and fastboot drain, drain the "ROM" (the right one for the Nexus 7 2012 wifi), reboot into fastboot mode and do the command .bat adb .. but something went wrong
"Fastboot.exe stopped working"
From here you have begun problems: recovery is no longer accessible, and restart I always brought to the fastboot mode! I had the bright idea to turn off the tablet ...
From here .. Black screen, fastboot mode is not available, recovery is not available, so I can not even give commands ADB .. When the connection to the tablet pc, windows gives me input connection, but during the driver installation I give me the error "Unknown Device" ..
I do not know what to do .. Can you help?
You could try using the nexus root toolkit ( wugfresh NRT ) to fix your nexus

Nexus 4 - Bootloop - Can't Use WUG Nexus Root ToolKit - Can't Find This Issue

I am having trouble using WUG Nexus Root ToolKit.
Windows 7 (64 bit)
Run as Administrator
----------------------------------------
I open the toolkit see the first window where you are prompted to select your device. I do along with the correct version. Next the popup comes up asking me to put the device in dubugging mode, I am unable to do so with me not being able to boot.
--------------
I am stuck in a bootloop and have been for about three days.
I manually flashed ClockWork Recovery touch with Fastboot.
Tried flashing stock images manually from Fastboot
Tried Flashing Ubuntu from Ubuntu PC (received errors "Cache formatting not successful - flash may fail")
--------------
The Toolkit is stuck in the system tray and I am unable to do anything
Wug_Updater_Nexus.exe is in the system tray sometimes as well. I cannot see the toolkit or right click on the system tray icon. I did some Google searching and have not had any finds on this specific problem.
Am I just an idiot?
-----------------------------------------
EVERY TIME I try to reboot my device via ClockWork or TWRP it always prompts me to root my device, however it does not work. Still in BootLoop.
Just a note, I just replaced the screen and found a similar post

I wish we could change the title of this post or make a new sticky post about the proximity sensor not working after screen install
Downgrade the Radio to the original version and that will allow you to boot.

After manually flashing each partition, are you running the fastboot commands to "fasboot erase userdata" and to "fastboot flash userdata userdata.img" before booting for the first time?
