Modify double tap power button feature - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm wondering if it is possible to change the function of the double tap feature to open the camera. I find the feature pretty useless to be honest, and I wanted to change to to turn the flash light on instead. Is there a simple way to do this? I'm not sure if there is a kernel out there that will allow you to change the feature or not.

Missing button lock/not lock option

My TD2 doesn't have the option in settings menu to set the the device to do not lock buttons. Is it just mine or have HTC ommitted this setting
No you are right - I was annoyed when I couldn't find this option and checked the Control panel on my old Diamond. Ideally I'd like to be able to configure the same options as previous (so if anything need someone to port this control panel applet and function to the Diamond2).
I’m tired to press power button every time I want to make a call. I would prefer to wake it up by pressing a button as on older devices. so I miss this option to.
also interested in finding a solution ... maybe a .cab ...
Nothing yet? I need it for my HD2
try-it Smart lock
Have you tried the TD2 tools.
Wake up on ANY key.

Adding controls to text box long press menu

Is this possible or would the app have to have each option preprogrammed? if not could i implement another input method or something to allow for more options? If i did that how could prevent from taking over the on screen keyboard? or can i modify the already included keyboard and add buttons to it? is it open source?
Thanks for the help

How to enable double tap to wake?
No Double tap to wake, but there is single tap to wake, kinda.
Go to Display > Navigation Bar > Enable "Unlock with home button" and while locked, press on Home button area to unlock
Also if you double tap the home button it will wake to Lock. Screen
Is there any custom kernel I can install to do so?
Or use kernel auditor to do so?
I'm really interested in DT2W, I know D2TW work on the home button but I would like to have in on the whole screen like my old OPO and Motorola have it...
No kernel mod support this ?

Here in this thread there's a couple apk's (NO ROOT) that will do what you asking
Double Tap To Wake Anywhere
For DT2W, you must enable the home button in your AOD settings. Another thing is that this disables the home button icon. It is a side effect of the tweak, so it's manually hidden entirely.

Soft Lock Option (without using power button)

Is there a native way to lock the phone using a double tap, widget, etc? Just looking for anything OTHER THAN a physical button to save wear and tear on the button. I prefer a soft button / widget, but if something is built-in, I could get used to it without having to add-on software.

Negative. No tap wake and no app. Said they were thinking about adding tap maybe in a future update
You can double home button or status bar to lock with Lineage. This function is configurable in settings, no need extra app.
If you choose to install Xposed, GravityBox has the option to dbl-tap status bar for.sleep
I use Screen Off and Lock from the playstore. If using the stock launcher, click on the icon to turn off/lock. If using Nova Launcher, set up the double tap to run the Screen off and lock program (in the Gestures & inputs). Been using it for years with no problems.

Double Tap for camera

Does anyone know if double tap power button for camera can be enabled on the stock Rom?, really missing the feature it's just so much more of a quicker way to get to the camera.
