Joying head unit freezing while playing MP3 from usb stick - Android Head-Units

Kinda weird issue. I formatted my 64gb usb stick to NTFS. Then copied 55gb of music to it. As the songs play, they keep freezing. Well, I formatted it again and used exFat, but then the unit could not read the mp3's. So back to NTFS...Samething....Any Ideas?
Used different programs to play them, same issue. Not happening with bluetooth streaming.

Don't use NTFS... Don't use ExFat. Use FAT32 and NOTHING else. Google for the tricks on how you have to format SD cards larger than 32GB as Fat32 in windows. Its hidden.

Also has to be a high speed micro sd.

reformat sd card

how can i reformat my minisd card? I have a card reader built into my laptop, but that won't reformat it. Is there any good free software I could use to reformat it?
I have used my card reader in my dell monitor several times to reformat my miniSD cards for both my MPx220 and my 8125.
is there any other way, because mine doesnt reformat it.
I use WM5Storage on my K-Jam which lets your SD card act as an external storage device on a seperate Drive on your pc. I simply use my Pc's format option on the drive to clean it all out or defragement.
Cheers mate.

You mention about not able to reformat the card using card reader, but can't it be reformated using your device, from the PDA itself?
You can format the miniSD on the Wizard by grabbing a copy of Pocket Mechanic from Handango; IIRC the demo version will format.
Does your card reader not read the card at all, or is it just not capable of formatting? If the former, you might consider picking up an IOGear USB card reader -- it's basically a USB thumb drive that you can stick your miniSD into. In the states, CompUSA has them for $10; cheaper than buying Pocket Mechanic.
pocket mechanic did the trick! thanks! just curious..i shouldve reformatted in FAT16 right? im assuming so since my card is working properly
Either FAT16 or FAT32 should work; I prefer FAT32.
whats the difference between FAT16 and FAT32
For one thing, FAT16 volumes are limited to 2GB in size, whereas FAT32 can go up to 2TB. Also FAT32 usually results in less wasted space. Check out the FAT32 Resource Page for more info.
Couldn't Use mini SD after PC format.
Hi,
I'm using MDA Vario. I bought 2 Gig storage card. At the first time, my MDA was able to recognize my 2 Gig mini SD. Then I put the card on the card reader on my Laptop in order to copy some file. There was a comment on the dialogue box in my laptop that my 2 Gig mini SD has not been formated and the dialog box offered me to format it. Then I clicked yes to proceed the formatting process. By the end of the formatting process, the dialouge box on my laptop stated that my mini SD has 4 Gig total capacity and 2 Gig in bad sector.
Unfortunatelly, after I formated my 2 Gig mini SD using my laptop; My 2 Gig mini SD could not be recognized by my MDA, but my laptop is still able to recognize my 2 Gig mini SD card.
Up to the present I have not been able to use my 2 Gig mini SD on my Wizard since I format it using my Laptop.
I also has formated my 128MB and 256MB mini SD cards using the same laptop and it works on my MDA.
I tried to use Pocket mechanic, but it didn't recognise my mini SD.
Could you please help me to fix the problem?
regards,
Stones

MicroSD format question.

I currently have a 2GB MicroSD card with a GPS program loaded on it. The card was provided to me by the manufacturer. I prefer not to constantly switch the card out to put in a 6GB one that holds music, movies, photos, etc...
I tried to simply copy the contents of the GPS card to my new 6GB one and when I start the program I get a hardwareID error.
I figure it has something to do with the volume serial number or possibly the mbr/disk signature, but not sure. Anyone know of any utilities that can assign the volume number? additionally anyone have any ideas of what the software could be checking against on the hardware?
I'm not in anyway trying to cheat on licensing, it is just purely an inconvenience.
micro sd
I think the max size is 4Gb
I have the 6GB card working fine on the tilt.
Of course anything past 2GB has to be formatted FAT32, so the 2GB is FAT, while the 6GB card is FAT32, but other than that, it works fine for storing music, documents, videos, etc, just not for my GPS program that seems to be locked to that particular 2GB microsd card.
That's the exact reason I won't buy any GPS prog from a vendor that locks it to a particular memory card.
Can a sd card be partitioned ?
If so set up a 2 gig fat 16 and a 4 gig fat 32!
I don't know if it can be done or if it will work.

With a little trickery they can be partitioned in XP/Vista using diskpart, etc., but they won't be visible to WM5/6 then.
Kinda useless if you want it to work with your Kaiser
It could be a bad flash card (either one). Try copying folders one at a time from the 2GB to the 6GB card, instead of all at once. Do the file transfer on a desktop PC, as WM6 might choke when doing large file transfers between FAT and FAT32 (not that its a known bug, but hey, its Windows...).

[Q] SDHC not being recognized

I have a SDHC 2GB FAT32 packed with stuff (avi, jpeg, mp3), but my Acer A500 does not seem to recognize the card. Help is appreciated. Thanks!

The specs say it supports 16gb and 32gb cards. I wonder if that means smaller cards than 16gb aren't recognized.

hrmm..I have put a few 8gb cards in and they were not recognized...put in a 16gb and had the same issue.
it's also bugging the crap out of me that people are reporting that you can not access the card via pc connection...you have to remove it and put it in a card reader...which seems really silly.

Additionally, power the tablet off before inserting the card (not just sleep, power all the way off.)
I'm using a SanDisk 8GB SHDC card from CostCo, no issues once I remembered to power the tablet all the way off before inserting the card.
Thanks Vereynn. Confirming that in order for the SDHC to be read, you need to power off the unit, insert the card, and then power it on again. If you insert the card when the unit is on, it will not recognize it. Quite an inconvenience.
Wonder if there's a way to script a forced remount of the card to let you pop it out and back in again?
I found I didn't have to turn the device off. I was having other problems with the card, so I ejected it (with the A500 on), formatted it from my desktop, copied my music collection over and popped it back in.
It rescanned the card very quickly.
For me, I installed it and then powered off the device and on boot it found it with no issues. 16GB RiData card
I had to format my card before using it, but I can't recall what it was formatted to before.
8GB Sandisk
I haven't been able to get my A500 to see my 8GB card, yet my nook and PC see it just fine.
If it doesn't get seen, it wouldn't be the first time I've had an SD(HC) card not work in a device. There are just some cards that aren't seen by some devices, and there's not a lot you can do about it except try a different card.
I would make sure the card is of the faster varieties (Class 6 or higher if you can swing it). Most of the class 2 cards I have don't work, but all my Class 6's have.

64gb card =2tb

So I have a 64gb sandisc u1 card, in partition magic it shows the usable space as a partition in between a small set of unpartitioned space and a large set.
All space = 2tb

You tried to download file biger than 64 gb on this card?
I didnt mod it yet. Its from bestbuy and leget in size reporting 59gb currently. I do not buy flash memory off ebay. I do not reformat flash drives in ways that I am uneduacted about [increasing size that is, im well versed in partition magic]
I know my 16gb class 4 kingston never did anything like that, it showed leget always.

Where is a file larger than 64gb? Not even a 3d high def video lol

Well you can always download several large files and see till where u can copy
What file system is being used? Windows doesn't like FAT32 drives over 32GB. It will R/W to them fine but refuses to format them. 2TB is the maximum size for FAT32 drives IIRC so that is probably where you are getting that number from. I own a 64GB microSD and my advice would be to format it in an Android phone and once done it should report something like 59GB space available.
It dose this on fat 32, exfat, or ntsf
Partition magic dose not equate windows formaring tool

I'm getting a similar problem,
I need to format my SD card with 2 partitions for my phone, for a link2sd app
but my 64gb Micro SD is showing as 27gb when i put it in my computer

I thought Fat32 supported up to 4TB?
It might. I know for a fact it will do 2tb I have a 4tb drive half ntsf half fat32

Have you tried looking at it with another partition editor? Does your hardware that you are using to read the card support SDXC properly? I highly doubt that it has more than the advertised 64GB of space, considering what a loss that would be for them to manufacture.
Fixed for Samsung 32gb class 10 uhs-i
My new Samsung 32gb Plus class 10 uhs-i also showed up as a 2TB drive with a 32gb fat32 partition in partition magic I even upgraded to the latest version of PM but it still showed as 2tb
I fixed it by swapping the usb adapter I was using :victory: now shows as a 32gb drive in PM It would have been nice to have a 2tb card though  If you are using a card adapter this also may cause errors if the card reader in the pc is old or has out of date firmware mine just plain refused to read it so hardware problem rather than software
Hope this helped :good:
If you bought the 64GB card and it showed as 2TB on computer display, 99.99% was the computer-end problem such software reading incorrectly.

Dude it was 150% certain the USB Card reader & not the software I speak from actual experience & not something I found on Google.
Some older or cheap card readers do not display the correct values back to the software. The built in drivers of some USB card readers cannot accommodate these new type's & size of card. Exactly the same issue can exist with the built in pc & laptop card readers that's why you may have to make sure the driver is up to date if the size reads strangely :good:

Firstly, what I meant was it is NOT the uSD itself that causing the problem or the confusion.
Secondly, FYI, "The built in drivers of some USB card readers" is a piece of software. I hope you understand what the driver is
Check if the partition table is a MSDOS one.. And upgrade your drivers..
I love windows for that.. it found a flash drive size of -2147483647... No, this flash drive didn't destroy 2GB of my hard drive x)
Formatting error...
This has happened before.
There was a chinese website where you could buy 2TB USB Sticks, but they were just 8GB sticks re-formatted to 2TB and they didnt function as 2TB.
I believe something like this may have happened.
You need to run tests for this, try seeing how much space there is using different programs that expore it.
If possible, try and accumulate files that are over 64GB in space, some movies/games/torrents etc. and copy them to the card.
If it's more, then lucky you
Peace,

Advice rejected by people who all know better than I.
Waste your time by all means & mess with the software of your pc. Overload the sdcard and screw it permanently :crying:
Maybe you could just try a different USB card reader simplz

You probably need to format the other partition

SD card is recognized, but "indexing" keeps getting lost

The model I have is for a Toyota Rav4. It describes itself as AC83XX (core x4), and is running Android 4.4.4.
It has a lot of quirks, but generally works. However, the 64gb micro SD card keeps losing its "indexing", and my MP3s are not recognized by any media players.
The files are always visible by the ES File Explorer.
I installed an "SD Scanner" utility (this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmail.jerickson314.sdscanner&hl=en), which makes the MP3s visible to Google Play, etc, but every morning/afternoon before/after work, it must be re-scanned, which takes nearly an hour.
Any ideas to solve this issue?
i have same problem.
>64gb micro SD card
Make sure you formatted it as FAT32 and absolutely not ExFat. ExFat is NOT compatible with these android head units. SD Cards larger than 32GB come formatted ExFat out of the box and must be reformatted, and Windows CANNOT format a 64gb card as Fat32, it only allows you to do ExFat using the built in tools. There are some utilities to format 64GB cards as Fat32 but nothing built into Windows. You will have to find something on the net.
Also, there are a TON of fake/counterfeit SD cards out there. This is usually a sign that you have one that is reporting it is bigger than it really is. Apparently they figured out how to make SD cards look like 32GB/64GB cards but they are only like 4GB or 8GB cards, and if you write more than 4gb/8gb to them they get corrupted etc.. Amazon was hit with a ton of fakes recently even name brand cards like Samsung, that look identical to the real thing.
http://www.phonearena.com/news/Bewa...-tell-a-counterfeit-from-the-original_id77769
http://www.happybison.com/reviews/how-to-check-and-spot-fake-micro-sd-card-8/
No, it's not fake, it's almost full. And if Windows can't format it Fat32, then it isn't, so might consider that.
That being said, VLC for Android does it's own indexing, and it hasn't lost it...yet. It also indexes way faster than SD Scanner does.
Crossing my fingers this will continue to work; only drawback is it doesn't pick up where it left off after shutting the car off, but I'm not sure ANY play is going to do that.
