Hey everyone!
I've been using my August Smart lock for about a week now, (coming from the Lockitron), and I really miss being able to unlock my door from my wrist! I was wondering if anyone with programming skills might be able to take a look at things to see if it's possible to create an Android Wear app to control the August Smart lock. Also, is there anyone else that might want/benefit from this? I'm willing to contribute like fifty dollars to someone who can make this happen!
Thanks,

Use Zones Geofence API Launcher App
I had an app that I used for launching HTTP APIs on my Android Wear watch, I just added in the ability to unlock August Locks. Check it out: https://m4rc.us/2017/03/18/zones-app-for-august-smart-lock-on-android-wear/

I just tried this but while the app shows "Lock Toggled" it does nothing, the lock remains locked.

Hi, I'm looking for a cheap smart watch and i have found this one. There's not much info about it on Google..
"Smart Watch A9"
Someone can give me a opinion ? Thanks.
Sorry, XDA dont allow me to post links , there's some info about it ... aliexpress . com / store/product/Heart-Rate-Monitoring-A9-Wrist-Wearable-Digital-Bluetooth-Smart-Watch-Devices-for-Samsung-LG-Android-Phone/1085663_32383810547.html?storeId=1085663
Bump. Anyone ?
I just received my A9 yesterday, and it is a pretty good product. All notifications work well with my Note 4. Callers can hear me loud and clear when in phone mode. The 240x240 screen resolution, although not 320x320 or higher like name brand models, is better than I expected. The UI is user friendly and easy to navigate. The heart rate moniter works, but I have not compared it to traditional heart rate devices/instruments, so I can't speak on the accuracy. The "lost device" feature works as well. Since I find myself walking away from my phone a lot when I'm home, I usually disable that feature because notification on the watch becomes quite annoying. I purchased mine from a popular Chinese distributor for $56 with free shipping. It took 3 weeks to arrive, but it was worth the price and the wait. Overall, it's a good buy. Anyone not sure about buying the A9, I say go for it.
It is a good smartwatch, enough some updating. how you can update the firmware?
I am having trouble with syncing messages and notifications. I can make phone calls and sync call logs but I can't find a way for it to work all the features with my S5. Any help would be great

My A9
Hi Guys,
Received my A9 today. Bought it as it was only 65 Euro and because I was curious as what it would be like as a 'clone'. Initially I was impressed by the looks, feel and the way it operated. This initial positove feeling was quickly followed by disappointment as the Mediatek Smartwatch app won;t connect with the watch. I'm using a Note 4 and although there is a Bluetooth connection the app which is crucial for many features and functions says 'connecting' but nothing happens. I see others here have had or are having the same issues. Any recommendations to get this sorted are welcome.
Ps. I made sure that my settings in Accessibility are correct and that I have the latest version of the App etc.
Many thanks,
Sly.

Have you paired it initially in the android settings menu under the bluetooth tab? That has to be done first. Or mediatek smartdevice wont find it.

Hi I paired the watch with my phone through the BLuetooth pairing procedure on the phone as I would with any Bluetooth device. The Mediatek App simply stays in the 'connecting' mode.
When i check my Bluetooth settings is shows that the phone is connected to the watch for 'Call audio' 'Media Audio' profiles and Allow access to 'Contact and Phone log'.
I get calls coming through on the watch and that side is all working alright.
I'd still very much like to have the messages showing up on the watch...
I think it is a good watch, but the watch faces are ugly as hell.
Can't we develop better watchfaces for this watch? Or just edit the existing ones?
I received a reply from the supplier which contained a QR code. I downloaded the APK App and thought I was on a 'winner' but after installing the App I discovered it was all in Chinese
They are now going to send me a link to the English version of the App which seems to look completely different to the Mediatek Smartdevice App that is supposed to be working with the watch...
Do you have the qr code? And can you add the English version here?

Hi, not yet, the QR I have is for the Chinese App I hope to have the English version tomorrow morning and I will share it no problem.
I really want more watch faces. Does anybody have an idea, how to do it?
I think the OUKITEL A28 or i95 is great too,and with a lower price from tinydeal.
All working
I've installed the 'Fundo Wear' App and it communicates with the A9, SMS messages are coming through, calls can be made and you can add some more Apps like Google Weather. It's basic but for the money I'm satisfied with what it does.
The App wants you to register with a website for your health tracking details but although I did I cannot login with the App as it keeps telling me my password is incorrect...and it isn't

I think you need to activate your account with the incoming email from Fundo. I did but I can not connect my watch with this fundo app. It doesn't see my watch. But mediatek does.
I am using iphone 6 plus by the way

I've completed the registration and that is now also working. I did notice that every time the watch disconnects from the phone because it's out of range it is a balls to get it to connect again...
So after a few hours with an App that seems to be working with the A9 I can come to the conclusion that it doesn't really. When connected it's OK. It does some nice things but unfortunately the connections is dropped on a regular basis and every time the connection is lost it's a total nightmare to get the App to talk to the watch again.
I simply couldn't rate this as a finished product or something that should be sold as such unless there is another App out there that actually works with the device.
On its own it's a decent watch but that really isn't really very 'smart'.
I'll keep messing around with it and try different Apps and will report back here if anything changes...
Techmade Smartwatch
I've said goodbye to the Fundo Wear App as it was a nightmare trying to connect the phone and watch every time the connection was lost. I've now installed the Techmade Smartwatch App which seems to connect immediately and offer similar functionality. The App is in Italian but its simple enough to get round this

Hello everyone.
I own the A9 watch too and I believe its a great build smartwatch.
But, I really want to know if there is a way to update the firmware and how can we change these ugly faces, the watch styles, maybe to rearrange the icons?
Is it possible? How can we "explore" inside the watch?
Thanks in advance

No, I'm not talking about Smart Lock, that doesn't have the option to stay unlocked while connected to a home WiFi that you know is secure. There's a location based one but apparently it isn't always working for me as sometimes I still need to use irises or PIN to unlock my phone at home. Very annoying.
Is there a good Galaxy S8 + compatible app for keeping my phone unlocked when connected to my home WiFi? Thanks!

Tasker.

I'm using an app called delayed lock, and it works great
Tasker just seems complicated. But I know how specific it can get in its functions so I'll take a look into it.
I'll also take a look into delayed lock as well, thanks!
Any other suggestions?
Thx dude
Delayed Lock is not compatible with my AT&T Samsung galaxy s8+
Anyone else have any suggestions?
Bump
Try
App-Lock Fingerprint
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sp.protector.free
Once installed a d setup look at Settings -> Lock Convience
Hey thanks for the reply, do I have to have the whole phone locked by App-lock so that it'll automatically unlock? I currently use my irises to unlock my phone.
Smart lock seems to work perfectly with a Bluetooth device. My Gear 2 watch is on me all the time, so I never see my lock screen unless I reboot the phone.
Use the integrated Smart Lock from google, you will find it under settings, lock screen and security.

Tasker does have a learning curve, however there are plenty of scripts & profiles online to paste in and/or modify. Once it's set up, you can forget about it. I use one to match a google calendar and mute according to a class schedule.

You obviously didn't read my post but thanks anyway. If you look, it only has a location feature, it doesn't specifically have a feature to keep unlocked while connected to a trusted WiFi connection. I'm looking for that feature because the location one doesn't always work. Location is on, settings for it on high, and I'm still having to put in my passcode/use the iris scanner. Not sure why it's not working as intended. I'll post screenshots if I have to though.

I'll probably have to try it out, not sure if I want to shell out the 2.99 for it. Maybe I'll wait till my Google Opinion Rewards gets it for me
I used Hi Locker on my LG G4 for this. I havent tried it yet on the S8, give it a try.
Everyone wants to remap bixby to something else, or remove it completely, I'd love to get some action out of the s-pen ...
I've tried a few of the bluetooth remote apps and few of the rempaer apps but the only one that even noticed the s-pen was this one https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.tmhouse.mediabuttonenhancer2.mediasession and all it does is display the action when inside the app.
Anyone has any ideas on next steps towards unleashing that beast ?
What are you trying to do that the native settings won't let you? S-pen remote settings lets you map the button to any app on the phone...

Well, it only lets us to map double click from "anywhere" to run any app, but that's it.
After that, only a series of pre-configured app and pre-configured action.
For example, camera action only lets to take a picture, switch camera, or record video, but not "apply filter" or anything.
Or, for another example, I want s-pen to enable next and previous page on any of my ebook reader, or how double clickng the s-pen triggers "Do Not Disturb" Mode. That is not possible yet.
I will be very happy if this S=pen thingy can be integrated with Tasker or Samsung''s own routine app
Didn't Samsung release a SDK for this feature? Might want to look into it and learn or hire a developer.

Am a developer. The SDK is to implement it in your own apps. Say for Facebook and linkdin to go over the SDK and implement it in their apps and allow for single and double clicks.
That's my last option to build my own but so far evidence indicate it might already be possible via 3rd party apps ...
At unpacked Samsung said that they will release the source to make spen developing so get relaxed and wait drinking coconut drinks...

Does anybody know how apps that use your fingerprint to login will be dealing with the situation that there is no longer a fingerprint reader on the pixel?
Thanks

Face unlock.
Hi @sic0048,
Thanks for your answer. This is exactly what I presumed. I was wondering if any apps which are now using fingerprints for logging in, will work straight out of the box. Or will the app developers have to program in support for face unlock. In other words will for example banking apps work directly after the pixel4 is released or will one have to wait till these apps (and it is quite a few) are updated.
bye
nick
I'm not a developer, but my guess is that the unlocking is always handled by the phone, regardless of method. The app is told when it is unlocked, not how. So I suspect it will work out of the box.

The API will probably be a generic biometric check which could be fingerprint, face, voice or whatever. It would be over complicated to specify a particular type, rather that the secure service in Android trusts the process used. There is a section in security for trusted services
An exposed mod allows you to trick all apps into using face unlock. If your OK with rooting your phone then the problem is solved.

i have a number of apps that unlock with a fingerprint. are these not going to work on the P4?
I think they will ask for face unlock. And maybe you need to touch some button on the display to "start scanning the face" (and this should take 1/3 of a second) and not accidently authorise a purchasing without additional manual action.
As for the apps, they should automatically adapt to this. I don't think is something a dev need to do (unlike the stupid Pixel Visual Core which, afaik, is something devs need to manually add support, and that's horrible implementation for Pixel users).

We'll have an article on the Portal explaining this situation soon.
The apps use a biometric security API, they do not know that a fingerprint reader or face Id was used. It's a trusted service that negotiates and approves a security test. The Android OS provides the security authentication not the app
I'm also pretty curious about this. I had set up most accounts to use long crazy passwords Google suggested becuase I didn't need to know them for my fingerprint scanner to work.
Actually I have a few apps that use fingerprint to unlock and now with the pixel 4 they won't work. 2 bank apps and a password manager. When I open them the fingerprint option doesn't even come up. I have to use a password.

That's exactly how I thought it would work. Apparently this is not the case.
All of my bank applications switch to pin code verify, or password depending on the apps capabilities.
If there was an api (didn't check) then either the app devs decided not to use it properly or just plain hacked the bio Auth directly somehow.
