I bought a 32gb SanDisk Cruzer Fit to store my music library on, and it worked initially with USBOTG and stickmount. However, it no longer works with Nexus 7, all other memory sticks are fine, and the SanDisk works on my PC, but not the Nexus 7. Anyway, I plugged it into a USB hub and it works again, but only through the USB hub. Anyone else noticed this kind of behavior? I'm guessing it's related to power draw, as the hub is mains powered, but I'm surprised it can't cope with a flash drive. I'm now wondering whether to buy another device, or whether the same thing will happen.
I had the something similar and a reboot fixed the issue for me. I tried plugging in my 250GB WD Passport but I guess there wasn't enough power for the external drive because it kinda just sat and clicked. I then tried plugging in my 16GB thumb drive that I know worked the day before but now matter what I did, I could not get it to mount through StickMount. I rebooted the Nexus7 and I was then able to use my thumb drive again. Not exactly the same but try a reboot if you haven't already.
I also have that problem with my Buffalo USB hard drive, where it sits and clicks, it's OK via the hub, but not direct. A reboot doesn't make any difference. I'm wondering if it's my USBOTG cable, as that's the only variable, I have read that others have got the SanDisk 32gb to work with the Nexus 7. I'll try another cable...
Got my new USBOTG cable, and the Sandisk 32gb now works. My external HDD still doesn't work (unless plugged into hub), but that's not too surprising. The new cable is this:-
Afunta(tm) USB 2.0 A Female to Micro B Male Adapter Cable (search on amazon.co.uk)
The old one works with most of my USB sticks, but is maybe not as solid in terms of build quality, as the new one is much tighter. The old cable is this:-
Brand New Micro USB Host Mode OTG Cable Flash Drive SD T-Flash Card Adapter FOR Samsung GT-i9100 i9100 Galaxy S II 2 GT-N7000 Galaxy Note (search on amazon.co.uk)
Hello
Apologies if this has been asked before. I can't find a definitive answer...
Has anyone managed to get access to an USB memory stick on the OnePlus 2 actually working?
I've just received my OnePlus 2 and have rooted it etc. I have bought a couple of USB type C to USB A female sockets, both claiming to support OTG. However, neither of them appear to work. I've tried with a number of different USB sticks, some of them with indicator LEDs on them. When plugging them in, the LED indicator stays off and there is no extra drive in settings/storage, even after ticking the OTG check box.
I have booted to TWRP recovery and tried to mount the OTG storage. The phone vibrates and the check box immediately disappears...
I'm not sure if I'm missing something here!
The two items I have tried are:
1. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00VGF2UPQ
2. http://m.belkin.com/uk/p/P-F2CU036/
Thanks for your time

Similar situation with me too:
So I have both of these adapters:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00W5BL1N2?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00XLF1BZ4?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00
Neither seem to work for me? I am trying to connect to a flight control board, so using a normal USB -> Micro USB, but the boards in question do not receive any power, nevermind data!
Any ideas?
Grr....
it seems that the problem is that does not support USB 3.1 (and do not know if not 3.0), the adapter must be old (not blue)
Both the OTG adapters I have support USB 2.0/3.0 and 3.1, but neither of them work.
What you are saying is you need a USB Type-C 2.0 adapter? Not seen those anywhere, are you sure they exist?
Same here. Doesn't work, using an adapter with a micro USB OTG cable doesn't work (this combo cable/Kingston USB 3 key works very well with OPO)
And it doesn't work either with this OTG cable

i tried a usb 2.0 otg with a micro usb to usb type c adapter on a usb 2.0 flash drive and still no luck getting the otg to work
I am using the oneplus adapter and it reads the otg but is stuck on checking it for errors.

Stupid question but did you guys enabled otg option in your storage settings. I just received my Oneplus 2 yesterday and I saw that setting and enabled it. I am still waiting for OPO's C adapter that's out of stock on Amazon India and only then I can verify whether that really does make a different or not.

I've now tried with OTG micro usb adaptors that work with other phones and a C->micro usb cable. Nothing works [emoji22]

I've just tested this adapter from this brand PQI... it's USB 3.1 Type-C to USB Type-A female. OTG works, but I am unable to eject my flash drive in ES Explorer...
Other than this, my no-brand USB Type-C to USB Type-A cable adapter doesn't work for OTG...

I've got similar issues. Tried using a proper Duo USB flash drive (USB one side..and Type-C on the other) and nothing. Tried OTG cable that I got online...and it fails to detect.
http://www.ebuyer.com/717886-datatraveler-microduo-64gb-3c-usb-3-1-dtduo3c-64gb
was the USB stick (which in every single way should work...without any kind of OTG adapter/whatever.
and then...
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201444248140
which says it supports the OnePlus 2.
It's not looking good....

What do you mean by the c-adapter? How do you connect it? C-adapter connect to an OTG? Or the OTG is integrated with c-adapter in it?
Cus I bought a separate c-adapter then connect to my micro USB OTG cable..
Does the nexus 6p have OTG support? I have tried searching and didn't come up with anything definitive. Some say it works some say it doesn't. I currently have this OTG: Monster USBOM-0064-L 64GB USB 3.0 High Speed Mobile https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00S70GGKI/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_a92zwbV8J56A7

I can't get it to work. I am on Beanstown's Pure Nexus rom. Is it because of the pure nexus rom? Or is it my hardware?

I'm on Pure Nexus and OTG works fine for me. I'm not sure what your problem is but I don't think its the ROM.

I picked up this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZWN64RS and it works great!
OTG works but you need a USBc OTG adapter.
Using a USBc to MicroUSB adapter with a MicroUSB OTG cable does not seem to work.
I don't have write access as a user, only READ ONLY
I tried several known good USB drives. I tried several file managers. The system can write and reformat the USB drives. The Nexus 6P is not rooted. Is this normal? Any suggestions to get it to work? My head hurts from banging it against a wall.
Sorry to post dig, but ive got a working adapter but im seeing an issue:
- Sub 5mb per second transfer speeds
This is with es file explorer, but on other android devices with the same usb2 stick i cam easily get 14mb per second.
What speeds do you guys get?
I was able to get OTG working when I got this adapter ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017MP658G ). Not every device works on it, however. Several USB thumb drives have worked with no issues, one inexplicably does not. Also, and more disappointing, is that my USB to SATA adapter doesn't seem to be recognized. I have a 120gb SSD that I used this method with my LG G3 and it worked fine.
Maybe it's the adapter? Changing setting from "supply power" to "transfer files" does nothing to change it. It sees there's a USB attached, but doesn't read the format.
I've tried several USB to type C adapters with stock Nexus 6p. All of adapters had USB3.0 support, it's important. They all worked fine with USB2.0 flash drives and they all didn't with USB3.0 flash drive. I've ordered some adapters USB2.0 to type C to test.
UPD: I've tested six USB to USB type C adapters with both USB3.0 and USB2.0 support - they all not working with USB3.0 flash drives and work wine with USB2.0 flash drive. Also: the phone can recognize the drive but can't mount it.
I'm sure this is the phone issue - I've seen successful mount of my test flas drive with one of adapters on some Xiaomi phone.
I change my phone to xperia x compact recently, I find the type-c USB is easy to use.
I have a otg usb drive with micro usb, which is working on samsung s7, dell tablet. I wonder if it can be used on XC.
Thanks
Not sure about your micro USB OTG drive, but I purchased a separate OTG type-C adapter which connects to my USB card reader just fine.
I tried to use a type-c to micro USB adapter, it doesn't work. Maybe I have to buy a type-c otg adapt first.

May I know what brand is your adaptor? I tried a couple of OTG type-C microSD card readers, but none of them work.. it simply don't seem to be providing power to the adaptor.
I could use a mouse using:
mouse -> usb to micro usb otg from z1 compact -> micro to usb c adapter

Even this doesn't work for me. My phone seems not being able to act as USB host and not recognising anything plugged in the type-c port. My phone is rooted, not sure if it's the cause.
I use the sony type-c dual flash drive and it works flawlessly
Still not working. I used a voltage reader and found that there is no voltage coming out of the USB port, no wonder it won't detect anything. No sure if my phone is faulty (doubt it, as the port works perfectly when it is USB client) or due to setting/rom/kernel...

Do you have a pop up screen asking you what to do when you connect anything to the USB port?
BTW, my USB OTG adapter is of a brand REMAX.
no, nothing happens as if the phone does not know something is connected. but works ok when connected to another host (pc or power source)
i'm using rooted 7.1.1 stock rom

Thanks! Finally i got it to work. Sorry that I had been trying type-c usb reader instead of a true type-c otg adaptor + reader... so, it fact it would work with a type-c otg adaptor.
The OP5 will be my first Oneplus device, and also my first device without an SD card slot. I currently have a 128gb card that I would like to keep using by way of OTG adapter. Does anyone have advice for those of us switching over as to which OTG drive/ adapter to get and the limitations some might have with OP devices?
I specifically would like one that I can keep the SD card inside the OTG drive and then just have it on my keyring.

I think this is what you are looking for:
https://www.symlis.com/features/
Sadly they don't have plans to make a USB C version, but it will work fine with a Micro to C adapter.
https://www.amazon.com/JS-Aluminum-...056648&sr=8-3&keywords=micro+usb+to+c+adapter
I recommend these adapters.
