Hi all,
i've got a slightly different screen fault and i'm not totaly sure how to proceed. I'm hoping someone smarter than I can point me in the right direction.
I have an issue with my LG G2 where the screen only works properly if I twist the case/body of the phone, specifically the top in a different direction to the bottom. I'm assuming this is because I used to keep the phone in my back pocket and at some point i've sat on it and damaged something internally.
It could be that it's just a loose connection, as twisting it sometimes resolves the fault but if I move the phone then it can cause the screen to freeze. I can then turn the screen off and when turned back on it shows a static like image, something similar to old crt tv's when they had no signal (minus the moving)
I'm thinking of sending it to a phone repair show but i'm worried they'll replace the panel when it could be something else.
Has anyone else had this issue before and if so, how did you fix it? - i'd rather keep the phone as it's still a good handset and plan to use it as a work phone.
Thanks in advance!

Something really strange happened to my K-JAM recently. I installed some text-to-speech program, which name I can't recall right now, because I removed it instantly. The thing is that this program was running in a VERY strange way. The following day the K-JAM fell on the ground and after some time it started to act weird. All of a sudden whole screen gone pale - like when you adjust the TV set for too high lightness. Everything works normal, except for that you can barely see anything on the screen...
Now, what I noticed next, is that the problem appears when I move the keyboard like I was going to extend it. Even small movement is enough to make the screen go pale. To be more specific - it goes pale when I "lock" the k-board in whichever position, not when I "unlock" it. When I turn the divice off and on back again, everything goes back to normal...
Any idea if this would be software or hardware problem? Anyone had something like that? If it just fell on the ground, I'd be sure that it is mechanical problem, but since there was this weird TTS program installed, I wonder if this isn't the case. Could it be, when the problem occurs even after a hard reset?..
Another question perhaps - do you think I should give some new ROM a try?
Which would you recommend?..
If the problem remains after a hard reset then it is not software. Sounds like the fall cocked something up.
You can return it under warranty but if they determine that you caused physical damage then you will end-up paying for it. If you have insurance then that should cover it.
Yeah, I do have insurance. The only problem is that I have to fly all the way to UK to sort it.

Hello,
I've recently been looking around online to figure out a solution to my problem and I came across this forum, I honestly had no clue of all of the things possible with this phone...
I have an At&t 8525 (in august I will have had it for a year) and just yesterday I started having problems with the touchscreen, when I would try to use the touchscreen nothing would be functional...after messing around on the screen I found out that the lower right hand corner of the screen (the right hand corner when the keyboard is in use) pulls up the start menu...although the touchscreen didn't work the phone itself still did, I could access the start menu and other actions on the phone by pushing the soft keys...
This morning I started toying with my phone again and it worked normally for some time and then eventually the screen started to do the same as it was doing before...so thinking that the problem was a virus or something, I figured I would reinstall wm6 back onto the phone hoping that it'd restore everything to normal...now I'm stuck on the 'welcome to windows mobile green screen' and only once have I gotten to the 'align screen'...
I truly don't know what or how to fix this problem with my touchscreen and I'm really new to all of these phone experiences...(I'm pretty sure returning the phone is out of the question)
So any help given would be very much apriciated,
-Ben

This is a loose connection between the main .. device and the touch screen . There is this cable that connects the screen and the keypad .. that has a loose contact. press the screen and the keypad together and the touch sreen should start working again . i had this same issue i don't know how to fix it.
Sounds like this problem here:

The above is an old thread. You can try the old business card trick (though it's by no means guaranteed to work). You could try a dis-assembly and reconstruction, double checking connections - particularly the screen to d-pad connection.
The Hermes unlike the Kaiser is very prone to this kind of problem and despite the threads you may see, guaranteeing a fix, I don't believe there is one fix for this problem. This is because there are several variables that can cause the problem and it just depends whether your case is caused by:
Dust trapped under the bezel
A loose connector - possibly d/pad to screen
A failed capacitor on d/pad or main board
Another failed component
Digitizer coming unglued from LCD
etc

Had the same problem right before EVERYTHING went white. Replaced the lcd altogether, about $110Aud on ebay, and everthing works great again.
Cheers....
So all of a sudden my G1's display starts producing multi-colored horizontal lines when it is in vertical mode (keyboard not slid out). I used adb and checked out logcat and such and it appears that this is causing the phone to hang up because it is not able to display properly, causing a force close on any open application, even home. Turning the display off, sliding out the keyboard, and turning it back on and everything is fine. The phone continues to run fine as long as the keyboard is slid out.
I thought (aka was hoping) it was a software issue so I re-flashed JF1.51. Still have the problem. Would anyone agree with me in assuming this is definitely a hardware issue? If so, how would I go about fixing it? Maybe there's a loose connection to the display somewhere? Maybe the LCD itself needs to be replaced? How difficult would it be to install a new LCD or fix a bad connection? I'm pretty good at hardware disassembly, I am just kind of curious how crammed in there the G1's parts are.
Any info is much appreciated. Thanks

Two people have tried and both had the same problem after reassembling their phones.. the touch screen would not work. One of them claims her fiance was able to fix it, but take it as a caution. It's probably not easy.
A friend of mine brought me his Wing to look at for him. If I turn on the phone on it boots up and the screen looks just fine. When I slide the screen opened to use the keyboard the screen freezes and when I close it again it gets all jumbled up. There are lines going through it and I can not make out anything. The phone isn't locking up at this point because I can press menu buttons and other hard buttons and see the screen react, I just can't tell what is happening.
I assume that this is a hardware problem. I was thinking that the cable that connects the screen may have been jarred loose or damaged in some way. If that is the case do you think that it would be as easy as opening it up and repositioning the cable? I don't have any experience with this phone specifically so I don't know if this is a common issue.
I was also wondering if it is possible that this is just a software issue. Maybe the function that rotates the screen for use with the keyboard is messing up and jumbling the horizontal and veritcal lines when going back and forth. I was thinking about doing a hard reset and seeing if this clears up anything. Any thoughts?
I appreciate any help. This forum has always been there when I needed help in the past. I'm sure somebody out there has much more experience and knowledge that I have and can lead me in the right direction.
Thanks for any and all help!!
Update...
So I went ahead and tried the hard reset first hoping that it might be a software issue. I am now at the screen that says "Tap screen to setup your Windows Mobile based device." No screen touches are being recognized. This seems to support my thoughts that there is a loose cable or bad connection. Agree?
I just slid the screen opened to see what would happen and it faded to white.
Yep, if my experience with the Wizard tells me anything, the flex cable from the main body of the phone to the screen is either loose or damaged somehow. Even a small nick or cut into the flex cable will cause it to stop working correctly. I would hunt up the Herald service manual and take your device apart and see what you can find.
Thanks ... I downloaded the service manual and plan on taking it apart. I have to make a run to the store though and buy a small enough Tork screw driver. T5 or T6 I believe.
Thanks again, I will post with my findings when I get going on it.
now what?
So ... I have the phone completely torn apart. I do not see any loose or damaged cables. It was dirty inside the phone but other than that everything looks just fine.
Does anybody have any advice as for things to look for, that might be causing this problem, while I have this thing torn apart?
Hi all,
My trusty blackstone has begin letting me down and I don't know if flashing a new rom will help, or if it is something physical that is breaking / broken. I'm using the Stonehenge ROM with CHT and everything has been fine for months.
Recently the touch screen allignment just seems to 'wander' sometimes just a little, other times quite a lot (so much that using the fake hardware buttons at the bottom of the phone, brings up the start menu). This means that intermittently I cannot answer calls, and typing a message on the SIP is an absolute nightmare!
The start menu icons do not seem to be as affected as the home screen and CHT, and I can quite easily get to the phone settings and recalibrate the screen - this will help for a short while but the alignment drifts again.
Restarting the phone has a temporary positive effect but it doesn't last.
Anyone else experienced this?
I have exactly the same problem.
Dissembled the whole device, blown some hot air but didn't help. Seems it's a HW fault. But I have a doubt whether the problem is in digitizer or in control board.
It's definitely one of the more frustrating problems that I've ever had with the phone.
I might try flash a new ROM then give up if that doesn't work. At least I won't be tempted to disassemble as it has already been tried, tbh I'd have just tried the tin of compressed air too, I don't trust my soldering skills for tiny electronics.
It is getting progressively worse, the touch area of the screen has slipped so low now that I can't use half the screen.
