Is the camera quality on snapchat with the 6p good like stock camera app? I have a lg v10 and its very fuzzy and grainy and am thinking of switching to the 6p if the cameras are good.
The reason Snapchat pictures suck is because they basically take a screen shot of the video instead of using the actual camera app. So every phone will take poor snap chats when compared to the stock camera app.

Only happens on android. Search reddit for discussions for this and the reasons why, but essentially the CEO hates android 'apparently' and is an iOS person.

not sure where you got this info but i doubt its true. Mainly because when you go to record a video, the front facing camera zooms in a little which is exactly what the google camera app does when you switch from photo to video.

Snapchat for me has been really nice and crisp. Basically like taking a photo with the normal camera. Plus having an 8mp camera for the front facing makes them super clean. Although when recording video with it, the exposure goes way down and thats really annoying. I don't know anything about what that guy said but my Nexus 6P takes hella good pictures whether on snapchat (which i use A LOT) or on the camera app

Thats good to know ! i think im going to find someone to trade me a 6p for my v10. So on the 6p there isnt noise in the photo and looks clear like original camera app? Every LG phone i had g2,g3,g4 and this v10 all had that problem on snapchat, not sure if they arent optimized or what.

Hi all,
I haven't been used any phone which have optical image stabilization (OIS). I decide to buy a new Galaxy S7. I come to a store and give some tests. When I zoom in and take some photos using volume down button, I see camera trembles. When I restart the camera app, everything is back to normal. This happened twice.
Please help to check this video:

So, it's a major problem or is it ok? Why did the camera tremble? And does this happen to other phone which support OIS camera?

I just did it. Seemed pretty stable to me. It's going to move a little bit but it wasn't jerky. It was more of smooth left and right ups and downs

Turn off Video Stabilization in the settings, because that is software stabilization. It will switch to OIS if you turn it off.
IOS is always on for photos or video. here is a good look.. go to 6:15
I don't think you can turn off ois. It's literally a floating lense. All it does is reduce micro movements you make by letting the lense float and not react immediately with your body movements. If you point it at something and move slightly you will notice it takes a second to sort of drift over on screen. Pretty cool.
I'm planning to pick up a G6 this Friday to replace my G5. But I'm slowly becoming aware of the camera issues that are being posted. Is this something you think will get addressed with a software update, or should I wait a few weeks for the S8 even though I'm not a big fan of curved screens?

What camera issues? Mine has been working great.
I've got no issues at all. I LOVE the camera. Even in auto mode it's amazing. Really really happy that they got rid of the laser focus. Photo attached is no editing just wide angle and hand held
There's a thread titled "LG G6: Is it worth buying?" where a bunch of people are talking about the bad camera quality.
Sent from my LG-H830 using Tapatalk
There's no camera issue, it's just not as great a camera as it should be. If you take photos in wide angle they are superb, but single lens shots are sub parts. It's digital processing is awful. Hopefully there's an update to fix.
Sent from my LG-H830 using Tapatalk
how's it compare to the GS7? I just pulled the trigger the other day and it's coming tomorrow. I could not find any full review articles or videos on youtube with the final software and hardware version. I wanted to see comparisons to the GS7. I finally got tired of waiting for reviews and went ahead and ordered it. Hope i made the right decision. I'm pretty picky about cameras.
I love the camera one thing I really really love is auto focus is much better than the lg g4 was. Also love that just tapping a a different spot on camera can easily adjust the exposure while maintaining a full frame focus. I'm the pictures at times from the gs7 may appear better but it also depends on what device they are being viewed on. I mean if I watch 1080 videos on my low end barely HD monitor th3 comparisons are useless. Sadly not enough pictures ever get printed. Plus wide angle for the win. Sample quick take from the beach on sunday.

Reviews already show the S8 selfie camera is awful too. What's the point of auto focus if it still makes you look like a cartoon and "beautify's" everything. Side by side comparisons online with the Pixel and iphone 7 show the S8 (and samsung) is still awful for selfies.
The selfie camera is a little blurry but not that bad. For 5MP it's to be expected. Yes, it's not as versatile as the back camera setup, but I guess if you're not used to having to plan shots to get the composition you want, it can seem crap by today's standards. blurry in darker shots, but does well enough for me. Using the filters that are on by default make it worse too. (Can't guarantee that the image I attached doesn't have any filters added as I don't remember when I took the shot. I think it is slightly filtered)
I was concerned every shot with the back camera would need to be "tweaked", but I'm surprised how well it does with auto. You can modify gamma on the fly too which is nice (and necessary with more difficult shots). Keep in mind though if you're cropping to 16:9, then it will affect perceived image quality. That can affect the blurriness of the non-wide angle lens tbh since it's the lesser of the two. Both take great shots though on automatic.
The wide angle is the best one of all three.
I attached a photo taken with selfie lens. You can judge for yourself. Personally, I think it looks fine. Most shots are going to be viewed on mobile so resolution won't be as important as the back camera. I don't use selfie cam too often though, but if it's your primary camera, then yes you will be disappointed by the step down and will likely want to go for something with a higher res like S8...
This is comparison of night shots of two back lens... wide angle versus non-wide angel camera... as you can see, both have their advantages and disadvantages.
---------- Post added at 04:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:21 PM ----------
Here are a bunch of microshots. Does it have it's weaknesses? Oh yes. Is it a bad camera. Not at all.
Pro Tip: Sometimes I notice sometimes you have to "zoom in" just a tad in order to get the autofocus to catch stuff up close but it's rare. My point and shoot does the same thing. (Also there is manual focus)
No issues at all with the cameras here. FWIW, I like them a lot better than the G4.
Just because of this thread, I had to try in near total darkness... It turned out pretty clear. I'm not disappointed at all. I came from S7 Edge, and I can say for a quick low light picture, it is a "little" better, but by no means is this camera a disappointment. But, when there's light, it's better than S7. I'm very happy with the phone.
I am having horrible camera pictures. Worse then the last few phones i've had. The panorama has double images and it's wavy. The reviews on youtube says it works good. all the pictures look like the grass and trees was painted with water colors. it's awful. I'm worried about what I"m going to do now. I can't keep my GS7 since I upgraded so there's no turning back unless i exchange my phone but for what model? I don't want a Galaxy with a curved screen so the options are limited at Verizon. I would upload some images but how do i post the images from my computer? The image button wants a url.

I tried auto mode with and without HDR. Btw there's no HDR button so I have to go in the settings every time I want to turn it on our off. Totally unacceptable. I tried manual mode too. I have it at 16:9 at the highest resolution. Is there a quality setting I missed?

I have got a screen shot of my settings. It was done in auto. I used the mode/filter called "1839". Also, if you tap on the object you want it to focus on, you'll see a slider (I circled it in other screen shot) which your can use to make adjustments to make pictures clearer in low light or put your own tweak on a picture.

Your right. Snapchats app on android is horrible. The most powerful android phone runs Snapchat like an iPhone 5s.

I really haven't had a lot of problems with snapchat. It's a pretty basic camera obviously. No crazy blurry pics but you do need to keep it pretty steady. Unless you came from a phone with OIS before, and I know some of you guys did, and for you guys, it might be a bit of an adjustment, but it seems fine to me. It's nowhere near a terrible experience.

From a gig last night. The camera is decent. Works if you put effort in it. This is taken with gcam. Gcam uses only the 16Mpix sensor (at least I think so.)

One of the pictures I took last night from my first attempts at astrophotography using 5T. It's difficult to do and time consuming considering its a 30 second exposure.
I haven't edited it, this is on ISO 1600 and 20" exposure.

Tried opencamera also. Images came out very grainy and terrible looking. That shot above is taken with Google Cam. Probably the version which was first optimized for 820/821/835. The one with no hdr settings in the menu at all.
Okay so, what's really good with this camera? I've been seeing so many mixed reports of the camera being really good, and then the whole "oil painting" quality.
I'm waiting for my 5T in the mail, and this'll be my first OP device ever. Camera isn't super important to me, but I'd like to have something that out-preforms my current Nexus 5X.

If you don't care for the second sensor, not much in my opinion.
Lowlight is probably not bad, if you think brighter = better.
All OP5 / 5T comparisons I've seen so far showed a brighter image, but also more processing artifacts.
In my opinion their second sensor is just there to keep the portrait mode and doesn't offer much more as the lowlight capabilities
are realized through software processing. Don't see any reason why this processing shouldn't also work on the OP5's main sensor,
other than them wanting to have a selling point for the 5T.
Some samples which show the issue:
https://imgur.com/4Xa06lA
http://i.pi.gy/R8p2E.jpg
Btw, this is what their portrait mode produces outdoors in daylight: https://i.imgur.com/5x1ikOs.jpg
This is what my OP3 produces indoors with HDR+ (I stopped using the stock camera months ago because of how bad the postprocessing is):
https://photos.google.com/share/AF1...?key=OEk1SkNwQXR3VVhTaWQ5Ulc0Ti1feXZ1WmNyN2VR
There is just no competition.
The fact that most will look at their photos on their phone and that many samples online are downsampled is probably the reason many don't see this issue.
As much as I would like to upgrade to the OP5T, I am keeping my OP3 because of the camera.

I understand what you're getting at. However, your two example images from the 5T don't really demonstrate the issue you're talking about to the severity you're talking about. OnePlus's post processing isn't good and it does process detail out of the second image, but the detail loss is quite miniscule. And that aside, it's quite a good picture. The first picture was compressed due to imgur, so it wasn't really indicative. Also, since you'd probably be more knowledgeable on this topic than me, I wonder: other than the dot pattern issue at full crop, what's wrong with the GCam on the 5T? On the 5, it seems to work well.

Hello,
I would like to ask if anyone has encountered the following issue:
When I try to make night photos with light gathering in Pro mode, the camera gathers too much light. Now I try the following settings: WB - Auto; Focus Auto/100; Shutter 4/8/16 seconds; ISO 100 in 48 MP mode. Now what I get with this configuration is too much light absorption. Pictures get really yellow and bright around any light sources. This makes taking pictures of car taillight trail for example impossible.
Now before you say to try different settings - I have. I also have the PRO version of the phone, and pictures are being way way better with the exact same settings. I will upload some examples as soon as I have them on my PC.
Has anyone encountered such an issue with the stock cam app?? Any way to fix it?? Any better cam app that might help out?? Can this be a faulty camera all together and should I contact the seller? (phone bought from China so you can figure how that will go).
Thank you very much in advance

i had exposure problems!
but i used gcam and the camera of lightroom for normal usage and its been good so far
the images of stock camera felt lil bit unnatural to me
yeah! gcam and camera of lightroom would be good
the video recording was too much annoying for me mainly for the crop and noise in the video
and ive been using open camera for video recording which is producin 100 times better result than stock one
even gcam had problem with video recording

Thank you very much. Do I need the phone rooted to use those??Also can you provide links for the gcam / opencamera video recording apps, as well as any configuration you find good?
It just seems strange that 2 phones with presumably same sensor, can make such different photos with the same settings. Yes one is RN7 and the other is RN7P, but still they should have identical cameras.
Thank you in advance!

that is fundamentally incorrect. it's almost as if saying all 12mp sensors on every mainstream phone out there should be same as they output the same 12mp images.
rn7 has samsung isocell gm-1 sensor, which is unproven compared to the sony imx586 on the rn7p. there will be differences for sure.

Hmmm I thought both versions of the phones use the same Sony sensor. Was I wrong in assuming that? I'm pretty sure that's what I've red in the review of the phone.
