I just switched from T-Mobile to AT&T since they now offer unlimited. So far, I've been very unimpressed with my "LTE" speeds. Am I missing something as far as changing settings?
I'm trying to figure out if it's just AT&T network or if it's the phone/settings... I had zero LTE issues on T-Mobile with this phone but I've been reading its a common issues on AT&T and Verizon.
Columbus, Ohio area for what it's worth.

Probably shouldn't have switched then...... Plus they cost less and most companies offer 15% off....

Here's my APN. I added the admin and change the order as some users suggested in other forms, that seems to have made a difference. I was getting speeds as slow as 2mbps, now I'm getting into the 50s at times.

When I referenced having zero issues I was talking about my LTE connection... I dropped calls all the times, wouldn't receive calls or texts etc... I switched for better coverage. And T-Mobile is actually more expensive, in my case at least.

This all may be very old info because I didn't look much into it, but yesterday I stopped being able to use mobile data on my phone. After doing a little research I saw that changing my APN could fix the problem. And boy, did it ever! Doing this made my network speeds go from 7Mbps to 13Mbps! ping time also improved from ~200ms to ~100ms.
Stock it uses the cingular 410 APN. I saw one on another thread that someone just called "phone". Name is phone, APN is called phone, MNC is 410 and MCC is 310. Everything else is just left to "not set".
I hope this isn't just a repost.

Go to settings-more settings-mobile network-access point names and then hit the menu button to add a new apn. Then just enter the info in the previuos post.
I hope this works out for others like it did for me.

Of the speed tests or something else?
http://db.tt/8vcWzGdF
I had my doubts but was bored and decided to give it a go.
Putting in the "phone" apn did boost me about 3000kbps on the download and cut my ping in half. Just to make sure it was not a fluke, I switched back to cigular and tested and then back to phone again and sure enough the improvement was present.

I tried it and I couln't get data at all. Had to switch back to wap. I wonder if it has something to do with the data package I have with at&t......
That's the name I'm seeing on my device and under in small print it says
Fast. T-Mobile. Com my data speeds are 1-3mbps normally see 35+ . I called T-Mobile to no avail. I thought GPRS WAS 2G?

I'm pretty sure that as long as the APN settings are correct, it doesn't matter what the actual APN is named. Are you on an unlimited plan and if so do you consume a lot of data each month? They may have slowed you down temporarily if you're in your area's peak hours.
I have same settings but it's LTE, that's the proper setting. Worry not the name

Ok thank you all and I'm on unlimited but have been on WiFi.. I know my note 4 pulls 35+ down but this nexus is barely getting 1mbps.... Customer service tried to say unlocked devices may not receive the same speeds etc

Its rare that a Customer Rep would know the correct answer, you'll get 10 different answers from 10 Rep's!
I changed my apn from default to the Nexus 6 settings....a quick Google search will take you to the T-Mobile support page. Haven't had an issue, except sometimes mms doesn't send, and I'll get duplicate messages especially from my girlfriend's iPhone 6s plus
Has anyone noticed their FI SIM roam when off of sprint and t-mobile coverage?
I have a Nexus 6, 6p and 5x. When my FI SIM is in the 6P and N6 and I'm in sprint mode/CDMA mode and there is no sprint coverage I have noticed that talk/text and 3g data work just fine on both the VZW and the US Cellular networks.
Also when in T-Mobile mode/ GSM mode and there is no T-Mobile coverage, both talk/text and LTE/HSPA/Edge data work just fine on AT&T. Also if on AT&T I actually have mobile data while on a phone call!!!??
But on my 5x I have no roaming at all doesn't matter what I do. It will not work at all on any network except Sprint and T-mobile.
All 3 of the phones have been tried on various ROMS and kernels and that don't seem to make a difference. Currently on Chroma/Franco on all 3.
I use FI Switch by @dwithereIl and Signal Check PRO to switch between CDMA and GSM mode and to know what provider I am currently on.
What has been you experience?

I have noticed the same. When there is absolutely no T-mo or Sprint coverage it will roam on ATT and US Cellular. This is super patchy however, seems like as soon as even the weakest Tmo/Sprint signal is detected it will latch on to that.
Overall I see a lot of switching between carriers which sometimes results in interruptions in service.

Sounds about right!! I do use this app a lot to assist with picking the carrier I most want to use. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cheekydevs.fiswitch
I use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mbmc.fiinfo because it lists your past connections in a nice easy to read list and only ever see Sprint and T-Mobile. To be fair though, most of the time I force the phone onto T-Mobile because Sprint is a pile a poo in my area.

That's what's so nice lol.. You pick.. I'm mostly working up and down a 100 mile stretch of interstate and T-Mobile only has 3 towers along the whole thing... Sprint has coverage on the whole stretch. So being able to pick and chose is great! Now with it roaming to the big red and the big yellow its really sweet!!
I had never been concerned with data speeds on the Moto G, it always just worked and I never had speed issues so I didn't worry about it for the most part. But after doing some testing I'm pretty impressed with the throughput on this device.
Please post your carrier, geographic area, and signal type, strength, and band (use LTE Discovery or SignalCheck Lite)

I"ll have to do a screenshot later but I know I don't approach your best speed. The best I"ve seen is about 45Mbps down and 8 to 10 up. I have AT&T in Greenville, SC and I get my best speeds testing to a Comcast server in Atlanta, GA about 110 miles away. My pings run 89-90 ms. Of course there's so many people here with cell phones and it's just you and that other person in ND isn't it. JK

anyone using "FreedomPop" data-only GSM SIM cards in their AXON 7 in the US or EU?
In the US, it runs on the AT&T network(Galaxy Note5 and S7 edge)
what are the speed results like?
Thanks!
I haven't gotten mine to work yet.
You can probably use Freedompop GSM fine, but not Freedompop (CDMA), which runs off the Sprint network.

Yes, I forgot to mention that it's a data -only GSM SIM card.
It runs off AT&T network only. (on my Note 5 and Nexus 5X)

Thanks! That's not as fast I was expecting, but fast enough. My FreedomPop data SIM card always picks up AT&T network in the Chicago area. It's usually 5mbps to 7mbps when using my Note5 or Nexus 5X. (1mbps or 2mbps upload)
I wasn't aware that FreedomPop GSM cards use T-Mobile. Where are you located?
Sim 1 is T-Mobile prepaid, sim 2 is my freedom pop sim, I'm in Greensboro NC.

Freedompop uses AT&T or T-Mobile, you can choose either one. Instead of letting the phone automatically choose the network, you can search for networks and choose either or.
I'm using Freedompop as my second SIM in my Axon 7. I just tested from my house, and got 7.31 Mbps down and 2.65 Mbps up, with a ping of 286ms.
