I had never been concerned with data speeds on the Moto G, it always just worked and I never had speed issues so I didn't worry about it for the most part. But after doing some testing I'm pretty impressed with the throughput on this device.

I"ll have to do a screenshot later but I know I don't approach your best speed. The best I"ve seen is about 45Mbps down and 8 to 10 up. I have AT&T in Greenville, SC and I get my best speeds testing to a Comcast server in Atlanta, GA about 110 miles away. My pings run 89-90 ms. Of course there's so many people here with cell phones and it's just you and that other person in ND isn't it. JK

I haven't seen that. Of course I work for them and we're usually the last to find out.

I have never been over 1.5mbps download on the nexus. I am in an unsaturated and smaller market it seems. (cant be for certain, charleston sc)
Is this speed normal? I thought I remembered seeing my friends droid on verizon get over 3 mbps. (although it was tethered to my computer)
sorry if this seems like a redundant question. I just want to know whether i should be worried given the radio issues with the tmobile version. I am reluctant to root it if I need to send it back.
If anyone can shed light on their experience with at&t 3g speeds that would be awesome.
cheers
gary
p.s. I used xtreme labs and speedtest.net apps. tonight i am getting .5 mbps. YUCK!
1.5 mbps seems to be OK, I dont know what they quote 3g at from AT&T (when I worked there they said it was 768kbps, but that was when 3g was first launched). In Tulsa I did 3.7 down, 1.3 up. Saturation and backhaul I imagine are the key factors.

Best I've gotten in Cincinnati is this:
speedtest.net/android/1860842.png
Kinda sad isn't it...? I usually float around .4-.5 down. This is even when I get kicked up to hsdpa. I hope Cincinnati gets gets better speeds this year.
Thats about what i get when im traveling through large cities on 3g but where i live there is no 3g only edge and im lucky if i get 40-50 kbps lol

T-Mobile is working to bring more backhaul and much better speeds to most of their 3G markets this year...you should definitely see an improvement soon.
I just did a test and best I got was 1363. That's on at&t in DFW.

My girl just got a D2G at my suggestions (since she's on verizon and NEEDED a keyboard and didn't really like the Merge).
I have run her 3G speed test a few times outside and she can't even get to 1mbps? That doesn't seem right to me. I'm on t-mobile '4g' and getting a minimum of 3mbps (up to 6mpbs), and while that's at the low end of '4g' it's trouncing her speeds. I thought 3g speeds were better than that, and I expected her to get 3mpbs on the high end and 1.5mbps on the low end.
We live in Albany, the capital city of NY... and have 3g coverage from all major carriers.
Anybody getting better speeds?

Yes, she turned her phone into a vagina.
Here in the big city of Topeka,KS I usually get around 1.5 mbps with my D2. Just ran a speed test on the iphone I tote around for work and it was a blazing 0.55 mbps.
Here in Central NJ I usually just leave it on wireless, but I just checked 3G speed and got a disappointing 0.87Mbps.
I'll be turning wireless back on now. Ah.. much better!
Ive got speeds of 1.5mb to 3.5
In in the cap city better known as Albany too and get good speeds over what you recorded either......might be something to let vzw know or try switching towers, might help.

ALBANY!!!! Small world.... I live on Western by Mary Jane's book store.
I am a bit curious as to what 3G speeds you guys and gals are getting on a normal basis.
I usually get around 2 mbps down and 1 mbps up, and I live in the outskirts of orlando. For some reason, it's actually faster here than in the middle of the city.

I'm lucky to get 1mbps down and 1.2 up.....but i'm also in the middle of a frickin field
around 1mb down and 700kb up.
Same place with ATT on my iPhone I was getting 2.5mb down and 400kb up.
Doesn't seem any slower though *shrug*

Same here. I am in east Tennessee.
I work for USCC and typically when I have done tests on our wireless card and different phones in store around 1.5mb down and somewhere around 600kb up. I don't have a clue on my fascinate since I just use it on wifi and as a music player/camera/camcorder.
I get about 500kbps down and 700 up. It angers me very much how slow it is. Every other phone I've tested gets at LEAST 1.2Mbps up.
Are all of these speed tests listed here running on 3g or mixed bag w/wifi? I know the title asks for 3g speeds, but 2 mb looks like wifi to me. Not disputing, just clarification/confirmation.
Heres about what i usually get at home on 3g.

I was in NYC yesterday and for the first time I saw the LTE lit up under the 4G.
Kicked up Speedtest app and ran it.
It was unreal needle burried at 20 mg! Final reading (5 run average) was 22.6 down
and 5.6 up. This is manhattan Times Square around 3 in the afternoon where everyone
is on their phone. Thats outstanding.
Before my ATT SG3 I had an International SGS2 and the quickest I have ever seen
was 4.7 down and 1.6 up. What a difference.
4 G was just activated in my home area in PA. Ran the speedtest here and I am pleasantly
surprised. Final reading (again 5 read average) 9.3 mb down 2.4 mb up.
I am loving this phone!

Running those speed test eat up your data! Be careful unless u have unlimited
Blazing Galaxy S3
Even if he has unlimited, he will be throttled after 5gb thanks to ATT's recent policies.
I know
Yes I know, I have the unlimited plan so I am ok.....

Yeah. I'm hoping that Columbus (the 15th largest city in the US) gets LTE soon.
For some reason AT&T decided to rollout in Cleveland/Akron/Canton before Central Ohio.
I'd love to know more about how they decide where and when to rollout LTE, I'm sure there is some logical calculation involved.
Or a few darts and a map.
i Have LTE here in Charlotte and Gastonia NC i have to say it is truly amazing!
I know the feeling. I dont have it in Sacramento but when I go to Davis (15 min sw of Sac) im able to experience it and its a treat!

I live in charlotte, max i've gotten so far is like 12mb down, compared to my wife on verizon is getting 18-22 down. What are you getting?
Vzw Rep said my town would be getting LTE by January on 2012 when I purchased my 4g phone. Here we are still stuck in 3g

I have to admit, after ordering my Nexus 5x i was a little worried thinking the lack of Band 12 til T-Mobile/Google gets it sorted out was going to give me crap signal. Boy was I wrong! [emoji1] Obviously this is all relative to location, but I couldn't be happier with these results and willing to wait for official Band 12 support.

While I don't see speeds that high, I do agree on being pleasantly surprised with the 5X speeds on T-Mobile. I get considerable higher speeds than I did on my Moto X 2014, and LTE signal in a couple places the Moto would drop to edge. Considering Moto has a reputation for having some of the best radios, I was happy to see a noticeable signal increase with the 5X.
T-Mo user here as well. I have to say this is the strongest radio I have had in a phone yet. I even get a signal in my basement without band 12. Well done LG.
I´ve seem similar results on att. Much faster than any previous phone i've had.
It's also nice how the phone can take voice calls over LTE without falling back to H or H+. Can browse the web wile on hold

I'm getting similar speeds on Sprint when I'm at work. At home though, i get about 1/3 that.

Well, my Verizon only gets 68.47M download speed. so sad
Since I moved my SIM from my Moto X Pure Edition to the 5x I've only been able to get a connection of 5mb down and .50mb up. Not sure what it could be
