my zuk stopped working!!! - Zuk Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
3 months ago i've bought a brand new lenovo zuk z1(cyanogen rom type) and it worked so good, untill couple days ago after recharging it for about an hour and then using it for another half hour total it stopped working just like that. a random black screen. i've tried to recharge it over and over but no life signes from the zuk so far. . maybe os crush.. software failure.
i am really not expert in smartphones fixing so much. I only know how to root and to change recovery and rom. and good to mention that neither of those i did on the zuk.
I am really out of options on how to solve it, and i need your help on this one.
ps:
*a friend of mine suggested "ADB" i am not quite sure if i wrote it right.. he said maybe i should give a try and boot the device using cmd...any guess how i am doing it?
Thanks in advance guys. Harel.
:good:

Try to boot into recovery and sideload the signed cos.zip. you can find the files in the forum. Also guide. Just search a bit through the threads

Hello
Hi,
i already tried to boot/enter ro recovery/etc but nothing succeeded so far phone was just black screen and dead.
anyway, today when i charged it again, suddenly it started charging and phone came back to life after about 1 week of death!.
how it that even possible?? you guys have any idea if this case is fimillar and happens a lot?? can i track down in some sort of log file what have just happend here?? any system log to check out?
thanks again guys.

I had the same problem and posted it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/zuk-z1/help/dead-charge-t3293760. My phone died after charging, too. What you write sounds very similar. I tried a lot of things but nothing helped to awake my Z1 again. Maybe your phone run out of energy after one week and reset itself through this way.

my device crashed again!!!
sup guys!
yesterday i was so happy that my zuk came back to life again. but then today after charging and using it it crashed and stopped as last time! . i am really disappointed! to be honest i have really no clue now of why and how this thing happens... i am not closing this thread with hope that someone will have any idea maybe about this thing..

XDA does not start, Status LED Red

Hi all
About 4 weeks ago my XDA 2 was out of Battery and i wanted to charge it in the craddle. But when i put the XDA 2 in my craddle (with attatched power supply) the status led only turned RED and nothing else happend. After 30 minutes the status led turns off. I can not power on the xda, not with a soft reset and even not with a hard reset. So i thougt that the battery is maybe dead (too old or whatever ) and i bought a new one....but..... still the same problem!
When i charge the battery directly in the craddle (that works! led on the craddle changes after a few hours from orange to green) and put it after that back into the XDA 2.......... nothing happens....
please help
Hi,
I have the very same problem since month ago, I upgraded to wm2k5 2.03.32wwe, did a change in the system, and after 24h, my phone went dead
Did you do a rom upgrade or in any way altered something in the system? Let us know if you get it work, ok?
J.
The only ROM Update i made was the official one from O²... And this was half a year ago.
Well but..... I SOLVED IT! But i cannot say how... The only thing i've done is that i opened the XDA2 and deconstructioned it in its parts... Well and when i "just for fun" tried to connect the battery to the battery connectors..... DING DING So i assembled it again and now it works fine!
I also cleaned a lot of dirt out of it, maybe this was the reason. I will keep an eye on this...
But thanks for your efforts...
Greetings Ben
Da*n it, you lucky guy,
I wish I get off with such a simple solution. I do not have the right tools but I am out just now and getting the things I need. Fingers crossed
Red light means, you have problem with battery. At first check, if you have closed red lock on the bottom of battery. There is no switch to sense rear cover, so, it doesn't matter, if it put or not.
If battery is installed, lock closed, but you still have red light - try to obtain for a minute working battery from another Himalaya and have a try. If it does not work too... seems it's a hardware problem there.
Same thing happened to me I just took the battery out and left it for a few minutes then back in and it works

Thanks for your reply guys. I've tried everything you guys suggested, but I've been unsuccessful in starting my PDA. It's been like this for 2 months, I've tried taking out the battery, changing the battery etc, but still nothing. So I figured out it's probably a problem with the b/l mode, since I'm unable to enter b/l at all. I gave it to of mine who's a little more tech savvy, he's got the right tools to take the chip out, and if he can manage to flash the b/l. Has anyone done that. If yes, please advise. My friend has fixed some BIOS's for laptops etc, but this will be his first PDA. He said that he doesn't have a board for the PDA chip but will try to work it out some way around. Perhaps someone can advise me where to get that board from?
Anyway, I will keep you posted, and if you guys have any more ideas or experiences, please share.

is my MDA Vario2(HTC TyTN) dead?

Hi all,
i have a serious problem with my MDA Vario II (HTC TyTN),
just have this device since 2 weeks, and last week i flashed a rom onto my device, its a nameless windows 6.1 rom...
the flash went perfect, the device worked flawlessly!
the device has been working fine all week, i had it hard reset for like 2 times.
now i did another hard reset, everything seemed to go just fine, battery was 100% device nicely came into the bootloader mode, nicely went resetted, perfectly booted letting me setup the device and calibrate the stylus right after this the device resetted itself and after the windows logo it just went into white screen, i waited this out for like 15 minutes and then i pressed soft reset... this white screen was the last thing i have seen on my screen so far (2 days ago now) the only thing my device does is give me a red led when it is connected to the wall charger or usb and the battery is not in the device
as long as my battery is in the device it does absolutely nothing, no sign of life!! not even a red led!
is there anything i can do about this? or do i need to send it away to t-mobile?
i really hope someone can help me with this one!
cheers ChilleCharlie
ps: normally when i press both the soft keys and the reset it would take me into bootloader mode, this doesnt even work no more!
i have been reading on this forum for 2 days now i just have no idea what this problem could be! can somebody please help me! i think it might be my accupack is that possible for a 2 weeks old phone?
is a herm100/200/300 device capable of booting without a battery in it?
cheers Charlie
ok here comes the test result, i was planning on shipping my phone back to the supplier but instead of this i tested my battery with a electrometer guess what? 0,04 volts are on my lipo pack!! OMG battery sudden death! never had this before in my life! now i know i can fix this battery pack did that before with some years old li ion and some months old lipo's but since i am under warranty i hell yea am gonna make use of it! this pack will be sent back to t-mobile in the meanwhile ill buy my ass a new one so i can use my phone
thanks for everything this website is great even thow i havent had 1 reply yet, thanks to you guys i got wm6.1 and will get it back running now! tytytyty btw i heard something about hardspl beeing more safe? i guess i should flash it onto my device or is that risky to do ?
Sorry, didn't see your post until today. Might not have been able to help anyway.. Glad to hear you sorted that out OK though..
As for Hard SPL, its a must to have on your Hermes before flashing as it will make it possible to recover from a bad flash. Its NOT a guarantee but it is a safety net to help when things can/do go wrong.
Would also suggest using the sd card method for rom flashing as its safer than via pc(Hard SPL takes about 2 secs to upgrade so I do that from the pc BUT you can do this via sd card too).
Welcome and happy flashing...
thank you for that information once i get my device running again it will be the first thing ill install even thow i dont think my problem is rom-related anyway, today my battery has been tested in a different phone, as i thought it was completely dead! also my phone has been tested with another battery... well my phone is completely dead as well! i think it has had a short circuit somewhere inside which would explain why it doesnt do anything with or without battery installed...
i do not know for sure thow.. but thank god i still have my warranty.. althow im not sure about this since my phone wasnt running official firmware.. but i guess that has nothing to do with hardware malfunction now does it? so ill be sending it back to the supplier tommorow damn i cant stand not having this device working
cheers chillecharlie

Hold camera button, and turn the phone on.. then you will get the hard spl boot screen..
After this you can flash a new rom.

do you have anything on the screen at all? or is the screen off as well?
try to be more specific please if you want to fix the problem:
What rom were you trying to flash?
do you have hardspl?
are you an experienced user or a novice?
was the battery fully charged?
did it flash completely and give you a message telling you it was successful?
is anything coming on at all?
is it under warranty still?
if you supply at least this information you will have a better chance that someone can help you fux it fast.
best of luck.
Venigo Thank u for your reply I tried this and tried many things before post ,no response.
bally3 Thank u for your reply I'll try to be more specific:
This happened after I flashed new Parcvello extreme rom.
I had a hard spl
I'm an experienced user
The battery was not fully charged and after flashing the rom I opened my polaris and it worked for 3 minutes after that it died.
No thing is coming at all
The warrenty period finished 6 months back
Thank u for your wiching best luck

My first advice is to try another battery. I cant see it being rom or flash related though its quite possible its hardware related and would need service centre attention.
Try a new battery. since you say nothing is coming on at all, I take it theres no power at all to it. You can try another battery or ask someone to test the battery for you using a meter to see if theres any charge in the battery itself.
When you say not fully charged I hope you mean like 40% and not 20% before flashing.
Did you get through all the setup before it crashed? Not that important but just trying to get a picture of what was happening when it went off.
if all else fails if you got it on contract you could ring them and ask them to look at it. If it isnt on contract then might be worth biting the bullet and seeing how much a repair centre would charge to fix it. You should at least be able to get a free estimate.
it can't be the battery, since the phone can work via the net with the battery out, even if the phone is off.

You are responsible of wasting 3 minutes of my life testing your theory...
Polaris wont work without battery as i predicted...at least mine wont...
So the battery might still be a possibility as mentioned above...
I dont see any other possibility beyond hardware failure.I tested all PCarvalho´s xtreme ROM´s and never had problems beyond software issues and he flashed the ROM and it was ok for 3 minutes as he said...at least bootloader would kick in.
Thank u all for your reply : I didn't mention that PCarvalho 's Rom is the cause I'm sure it isn't.
My second step is changing the battery and I 'll till you about the progress.
Still the same proplem after i tested the battery which is charged
in that case its a repair centre job then unfortunately...sorry to say.
Do any body knows where is the HTC repair centre in Cairo,Egypt
actually i had a similar problem. polaris totaly dead. then i discovered, that the sim slot thingy didn't "click in" properly. that solved my problem.

[FIX] Crazy colors (Yellow/Blue) on LCD

Hi all!
I've seen some guys here with my same problem: the HTC HD2 started to show wrong colors, yellowish display with blue stripes.
Mine started to have this problem when I've dropped it: first it was a temporary problem, pressing on the display would fix it for some hours, but then it became like PERMANENT... and my HD2 isn't over warranty anymore.
So, I've started to search and I've found many ppl with this problem.. I was about to buy another HTC HD2 but luckily mine was temporairily fixed for another time.. and UNTOUCHABLE!
Prior to the last temporary fix I've opened it to see if it was a wrong connection of the flex cable, but nothing.. it _really is_ a mainboard problem, maybe a broken connection of a point
Anyway, when it was temporairily fixed I thinked: well, it is already ****ed, I can only try my last chance...refluxing... so... this is what I've done:
1. Android booted
2. HTC HD2 on the bed, rolled in my duvet
3. Activated a native stability test using my CPU at 100%
4. Waited for 20 mins, my HD2 reached 54°C
5. Another minute at 54°C...
6. Okay, connections should have been refluxed..
7. Stop the benchmark, shutdown the device
8. After some hours I've taken it, and the display was okay.
I've made this 2 days ago and my display seems to be permanently fixed.
NOTE: This procedure is really risky: you've got a lithium battery in your device that MAY explode! Don't be a fool like me and don't make this thing on your bed!
Hope this helps someone
Does it still fix the issue after 10 days? If it does, I'm gonna try to do the same tomorrow.
Other people who have already tried this?
Greetz, and thanks for sharing the info
I have android installed now, but I don't know which application to use to run a cpu stress test. Which one did you use?
Thanks in advance.
Greetz
