Anyone had luck getting an RMA for a Moto maker device - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My charging port quit working and for a week I have been trying to get an RMA... I'm completely confused as to how to go about this as its a Moto maker device and I don't want them to just send me a generic looking replacement, screw their customer service.. Has anyone had luck doing this

Head to the Motorola Owners Forums. People have had luck getting an X Code to create a new phone. They've got some helpful mods that seem to get things done.

Did I make a big mistake? (purchase issue)

Hey guys, I bought my N7 4 days ago but it wasn't from a retail store or google play. It was from craigslist. I was fortunate enough, or I thought I was but my unit has none of the problems a lot of you guys been getting, assuming I probably got it from the new batch but that was until earlier when I was playing Soulcraft THD and I was pressing down the left side with a bit of force with my thumb and I heard the screen make that sponge/squeaky sound. There is no screen lift or anything major at all. The only other problem(minor) issue I have with my N7 is that the screen flickers at low brightness(40% and below) while it is loading an app or a website on chrome but I read that the issue could be software related so I'm not too worried about that, will just have to wait for a update.
My real question is did I make a mistake from buying it from that person on CL now that I have a problem with my N7 or do I just contact Google about the issue?
Thanks in advance guys, hope everyone is loving there N7 as much as I do!
Well, if you contact Google, they will probably refer you to Asus since you didn't buy it from the Play store. I would call Asus and just check on the warranty. If they say no, they say no. Can't hurt to call though.

I bought it brand new unopen, so I'm pretty sure it does have warranty correct?
Manufacturer warranty from Asus, not warranty from google unless you have an order number with them.

Are you able to contact the original person that bought it and ask for a copy of the receipt in case you have any issues with it?

I seem to still have their number, I will give him a text right now! Actually the seller was just a friend helping out his buddy to sell the N7. I hope he still has receipt.
Is it rooted? If it is, restore it, according to them your warranty is void'wjen you unlock the boot loader.

Nope not rooted I wanted to have it for atleast a week or two then root it.
hey guys sorry for being a complete noob at this. Almost all electronics I've ever bought has never given me a problem so I don't go through returns/rma often. I just got a copy of the receipt for my Nexus 7, its in pdf file what is the next step for me to do? It was purchased on the 29th of July at Office Max.
Why don't you just have the seller do an exchange from office Max? If that's not too much trouble.

Would it work if I go there with a printed copy of the receipt saying I bought it from a guy on criagslist? If not I will have to ask him for help.

You might as well try because you are kind of limited n options. I say it can't hurt.

okay so I called one store and they told me no I can't do it, the original buyer has to. I called another store and they said I could do it myself but they charge a 15% restocking fee...I don't want to pay for that, they are also out of stock so no point of me going there then whats my next best option?
My screen is a bit squeaky left side

I keep hearing different answers for this...
Does unlocking the bootloader void warranty, or no?

When I returned at staples they needed my credit card.

I'm not sure but since Asus has a 1 year warranty on their products, I think you can get them to RMA it. you will have to pay for shipping to them though.
however I seem to recall some people saying Asus said you have to go thru Google to RMA it, so I'm not 100% positive. let me know what Asus says.

Go Get 'em Dinc!
Let us know how it turns out. Somewhere deep in the forums, there was a breakdown video/images if you get stuck. Am sure You Tube has some video also.
I remember a post somewhere, a few months ago, where a person changed the display. Seemed you have to be really careful when you tighten the screws (I assume), or you get dead spots on the display. He had to re-tighten a couple times to get it right. Probably all have to be at the same tension.

Thanks bud ill keep what you said into consideration plus my cousin owns a store called the Pod DropĀ© which fixes pads and phone's mostly ios but he said once I get the screen to bring it so he can help. So soon I'll be back creating my miui rom that was started but halted due to the circumstances...
If you can help me port it to the 501 once I get a stable build id really appreciate it!

If you do a search on "Google Play RMA" you get this http://support.google.com/googleplay/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=2661524&rd=1 as a first hit. Quite handy that Google search..

eBay links aren't allowed, but wow, that is the cheapest JTAG repair I've ever seen. Guy's got pretty great feedback too. JTAGs usually go for $50-$150 depending on the model.

Hopefully the staff has made an exception in the case of this thread. eBay links aren't allowed, but this guy seems to be running his business through that eBay store. This is directly related to mobile devices here on XDA, as well. I've got a Sensation that I will be sending off to him. If this thread is still open when I get it back, I'll update you all then.

Good to see my old girl back up and kicking.
Sorry guys, while I understand this is a good price for a good service, we can't allow any exceptions to our forum rules. We don't allow members to use XDA to advertise their products or services, so I'll have to close the thread.
If anyone is already in the process of a transaction, I'm sure it can be completed via PM.

Who wants my $150 Moto X rebate code?

So, I was about to snag 2 rebate codes from Moto X's Cyber Monday debacle. I was thinking about buying a Moto X for myself and another one as a gift but after 4.4.1 for Nexus 5 came out, I am very happy with the improvements and so I will be keeping my Nexus 5. As a thanks to the community at XDA, I am giving out one code to a lucky member here (Please reply in this thread). I will pick one person out of the first 5 responses and send the code through PM.
I've been itching to pick this phone up. Thanks for doing this!!!
I'd love to have it if you're still giving it away! You're wonderful for doing this

Totmur,
the code is your... check PM.
Everyone else, sorry.... Good luck next Monday
So a few caveats before I provide this code.
1. I used the code and ordered the phone, but they cancelled my order because of a Canadian CC. I assume the code is still valid, but I'm not really sure (don't worry I found another way to get the phone at this price).
2. If you use it, successfully or otherwise, PLEASE update this thread so that others can stop trying.
