So I just noticed that the description for this device says that you can change the backplate of the device. I'm 95% sure that this can only happen on the OP1 and OP2, but not the X. Just thought I would spark a change so that the description is correct for people wanting to buy this phone.

You can be 100% sure !
The best way to relook the back plate is to use dbrand skins.
If not, you have to use a case for OPX as it's too slippery and to avoid scratches on the glass.

Came home today to find that I had received my G2 from the promotion they had last week and turns out this one has a different hinge than my first one.
No biggie, I never thought the first one had that big of an issue but nevertheless I made a video showing the 2 side by side.

Well, anit this about a b......

holy sht...I wonder if i can get a replacement if im still under warranty hahah
So you do reckon they have actually resolved the issue now or have you just got one that is tighter than ur 1st one?
Looks like a change in materials!
I still don't see the fuss about the hinge though.
What fusses me more is that I've gone through 3 G2s and each of them had a pixel problem, be it stuck or dead. Had to use a microscopic-ish lens to find them. Lawl.
I am so jealous right now.

Don't be. People have mentioned that even over time, the hinge will get loose again (this is inevitable, all springs give way over time). So be content with what you have if you have a bug-free phone!

Was it a new upgrade or a replacement, when did you get the first one?
First of all, you may want to get yourself a nice camera that can do HD video recording.
Secondly, your second G2 with the tight hinges is exactly how my G2 was when I first got it. It was super tight, no give, and then after a week of use it become really loose but not quite as loose as your first one. Give it time, and I'm pretty confident that your new G2 will call the loose hinge flu. Let's hope not, though.
My G2 has an intermittent touch screen issue. T-Mobile says it's a known issue. This is unacceptable for me. Aný recommendations? Different model, brand ect. Thanks

Are you sure it's not this issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=910624? This is a problem inherent with capacitive touchscreens (though some phones may be more susceptible than others depending on design and tolerances).
If not, you might want to try starting a new thread about it instead of trying to get help through one about the hinge (especially if it really is a known issue, others may be able to provide solutions).

No it doesn't, you just don't understand the nuances of capacitive touch sensors. YOU NEED TO COMPLETE THE CIRCUIT by having solid contact with the metal ring around the outside of the screen.
I've been playing with couple different dummy units at the stores
Like best buy and radio shack. They got no hinge problem at all. But really my wife got a g2 that has the problem but she doesn't say anything at all. me neither. I don't see why the problem would make me go have a replacement though. Unless theres something else. But so far so good

I actually just feel like it's a tighter hinge. If it goes loose or not, I don't know. But according to everyone here , it will loosen with time.

I added a new line to my plan last week during the promotion. I got the first one the day it came out.

Haha I would have done better recording but I was just recording it through the youtube recording client which is a POS.
And I expect it to loosen but hope it doesn't.
OP just chime in in about a week or so and let us know if anything has changed.
Why do you say that it looks like diffenret materials?

You know what, after playing around with it. It just made me realize how beat up my phone is compared to the one -_- Please disregard haha.
Reuploaded since I should have reviewed the video before uploading.
It's been 3 months of use and the hinge is as tight as it was on the first day. So I don't believe that it will become loss at least not during my duration of owning it.
Hey guys, something I thought I would share.
I was having MMS issues with my moto X. They would randomly send or not, some would say sent but didn't. whatever I called Motorola and was told to ask tmobile to revision my MMS or something. it didn't work so I called Motorola & told them and they shipped me a replacement phone. I just received it and to my surprise and great delight!! it's running 4.4 not 4.4.2 which moto practically forced me to update to!!
Can you say OLD BOOTLOADER!!! and I hope my MMS works again.
also 2 things I noted.
1. The moto X screen is supposed to be seamless with the body of the phone, meaning when gliding your finger from screen to the side bezel of the phone it should be silky smooth and your fingers should feel no friction at all. My old moto x, the one being sent back contained some friction when gliding to the right side.
2. (pic included below) the new one, I just received 20 minutes ago has scratches on the Sim card tray?!?!? wth! i honestly could careless but there may be some quality control issues in their Texas plant.
Carry on and use this info as you wish.
here's the sim tray picture i forgot to upload above lol

Yeah, I know most companies do refurbs but the 2nd moto x I received seems like it's better quality overall.
CartlandSmith said:
Every refurb gets inspected before it ships out whereas not every new device coming off of the line does. So that makes sense.

agree! but still my point stands. my original moto x had some weirdness in the form of inconsistencies in the screen.
CartlandSmith said:
that is totally consistent with what I am saying - the newer devices don't go through as rigorous of an inspection as the refurbs do. It is cheaper for them to just send you a refurb than it is to implement higher QA at the factory on a mass level.
And it is why no one should feel bad about returning and reordering a device if they get a defective one.

lol ^^^ that makes more sense. Thanks for the explanation. Your advice sounds solid but how do you know all of this for sure? lol I'm not doibting it but I like to know people's sources.
and thanks for all your advice, i'll be sure to like your comments!
CartlandSmith said:
there are typical QA practices in factories that produce consumer goods. Of course a particular manufacturer can do what they please but the typical QA practices are typical for a reason. A manufacturer has to balance the cost of QA against the cost of returns/repairs and their reputation for quality.

In my area there is a seller with an LG G2 stuck in Fastboot mode. I already own one but i wouldn't mind getting another one off for cheap. He explains he used towelroot to root, and a RecBoot he downloaded off the internet. When i questioned what version, he didnt know there were different versions of it and we are talking about an LS980 model here. So I figured perhaps that may have been the cause. The only issue is he mentioned he once opened it to replace the battery. That got me skeptical as I began to wonder what if in reality him touching the insides may have caused this? Not sure if touching hardware can be a probable cause, but I have seen the layout of the inside and understand how dangerous it is when you touch the left or right flex cable running across the battery. The phones at a good price which is why I am super curious whether I should make the move or not. Could it have been hardware damage? I bought a Droid X this way once 100% mint for $20 and had success in fixing it (which trust me its a hassle to work with a Droid in fastboot...)
This is entirely my choice at the end of the day and NO ONE WILL BE BLAMED IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG.
Just want some voiced opinions from experienced users.

I highly doubt there is a way to lock the phone in fastboot mode by changing the battery. It's a software issue - fact that it can get into fastboot suggests the hardware is working.

Yeah thats what I was figuring. Just had me a bit skeptical. Im thinking of making the move.
Opening it once is a let down
I would have made a move if he never mentioned about opening the battery. Anyway it's not a big let down if the price looks smaller to you..
I stuck my phone in fastboot from using wrong AutoRec, and was able to recover with a .laf flash to get download mode, then stock .kdz flash to restore all partitions.
Then again if the seller is just telling stories...

As you can see from these links, the Droid Turbo cases are starting to show up!
http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-Droi...=1414355334&sr=8-20&keywords=droid+turbo+case
In the description it says it is made for the Moto G, but obviously the Moto G doesn't look like that. That is a Droid Turbo case...
http://www.case-mate.com/Motorola-D...e-Motorola-DROID-Turbo-Naked-Tough-Cases.asp#
In the description on this one it says it is made for the Moto X but when you click through the pictures it is obvious that it is the Turbo. Interesting thing to note: This one shows the version of the Turbo we saw with the woven kevlar back....
http://www.case-mate.com/Motorola-D...-Mate-Motorola-DROID-Turbo-Caliber-Cases.asp#
Another case from the same site...
http://crosscookie.en.made-in-china...ers-Case-for-Motorola-Droid-Turbo-Xt1254.html
Another case for the Turbo but they are showing another phone inside of the case...
http://hkgs.en.alibaba.com/product/...ver_Case_For_Motorola_Droid_Turbo_xt1254.html
Another case...
There were a few more but you get the point. We're getting close!!
Looking good!
I posted this over in the other case thread but I really hope we see some kind of bumper case for the phone. As large as it's already going to be plus the kevlar back I really don't see the need for a bulky case. Something that sticks out just enough to protect the screen from falls should be plenty.
Or maybe I'll just go naked with it. It looks like it should fit in the hand nicely. My HTC One M7 needed a case to feel comfortable in the hand without slipping. This should be thick enough to feel good in hand.
I also looked at Squaretrade's warranty. $99 for 2 years and only a $75 deductible is a great deal.

I usually put a thin case on my new phones for the first few months because I'm afraid of messing them up but then I usually take it off lol

Dang they have an insider of there lol. Thanks for the info.
Speaking of accessories, Mime responded to an email that I sent saying that if enough people showed interest they would put out a tempered glass protector for the Turbo. So, if any of you guys are interested shoot them an email.
As per the title anyone knows where I can buy another of the included case? I really really like how it looks and feels in the hand.
Also if it's possible to get the stock or something close to the included screen protector.
Tia

I don't think OnePlus site has the case listed and on eBay I've had no luck, maybe it's a region thing
Sorry I know I seen them on there a bit ago or maybe it was another site I'll look in my history cause I said the same thing. The free case is the best looking so far for the phone and I went looking to find backups for when I kill off the 1st one.
Go to tmobile and tell them you need the case for the display, if you had any insured otterbox/other cases on the account they wont care and they will just give it to you
