Is there anyway of restoring to the original image or onboard recovery. I left it in for repair but the bloke just installed windows over the top of it, now nothing works. Can I restore back to the original windows 10.
I am new to windows 10 tablets so please be gentle.

hey guys i think i goofed big time when i installed windows 8 i just chose to upgrade windows instead of setting a partition if i chose to complelty return my computer back to facotory settings would that fix it. my main issue is my computer did not come with a windows 7 installation disk or cd key.
well all i can say is thank god for hp system restore apparently my computer had a back up of the original software so all i had to do was run system restore in recovery but i did lose all my stuff in the process.
Okay, I have faced a weird install problem..
I was running Windows 7 on a dell studio xps 16, bought the upgrade package for 39.99 & downloaded Windows 8. It didn't give me an option to upgrade with apps, so I decided to just upgrade with Windows settings.
After a long install and a lot of reboots, it finally installed I thought all was perfect.
The Windows 8 set-up screen showed up, asked me to create a windows id for the store, completed all of this, and when finally I expect to see the Metro UI, i get a small dialog box saying set-up has failed - I click okay, and it puts me back to Windows 7.. Whats wrong!!!
After booting up, asking me to create a ID, do all that stuff - to pop up that error & put me back on Windows 7 was quite weird.
What can I do now?
(Sorry if this doesnt belong here)
Did the setup retaining Nothing.
Worked.

I hv a Vaio (vpcsb18gg) with windows 7 build in.....
how do i install win 8 with dual boot option...i hv already made a empty partion for installin win 8
thanks in advance
Rather than wasting your time with posting (including an apology) and our time with responding to it, have you considered just using the search feature, or a general web search? People have been dual-booting Windows versions for, oh, the last 18 years at least. It's not hard to find info about.
Just install Win8 to the second partition. Why'd you even need to ask? Win8 uses the same bootloader as Win7 and Vista, so it will auto-detect them, but this works even with Vista or later and XP or earlier, which don't use the same loader (so long as you install the newer OS first).

All you pretty much need is the windows 8 iso on a disc or boot-able USB drive, when you buy windows 8 you should get in a disc or you can find the windows 8 .iso and enter in your key once the installation is complete
1. Use this to put the iso on a disc or usb drive: http://download.cnet.com/Windows-7-USB-DVD-Download-Tool/3000-18513_4-10972600.html
2. Power off your computer
3. On your computer, when your booting it gives you an option to boot from cd or usb (normally press your F keys or another special key when booting up to give you the option, i think for a vaio its F11 or F12)
4. Just keep clicking next till it asks you if you want "uprgrade" or "coustom" click "coustom" it should give you the option to install to that partition if it doesn't make sure your partition is 20gb and is formatted as ntfs
If you want to watch a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_p4rCyYGW0 (Skip to 6:32 unless you want to watch the partition part) it may not be windows 8 retail but its thee exact same process.
Any more questions reply or PM me
Edit: When you use the upgrade assistance it downloads the windows 8 you want just click "download pro (or any other version)" put the .iso in on a disk or usb

When i bought my laptop it did have Windows 7 on it. But i did have a option to bye Windows 8 cheap with a promotioncode. Sow i buyed Windows 8. But only this year i found out its a upgrade disk... Bummer. Well never likked Windows 8 much after trying testversion and seeing the final product. It made me think of Viste. (Not finnist) Never mind... I did not like the sow called Metro menu at that time. I dont like the way the settings work. Its not like i used to.
But i wanted to do somthing with this useless Windows 8 update disk. Windows 8.1 is a free update to Windows 8 users/byers. Sow i looked into some options to get Windows 8.1 with updates.. But no option i really liked. (Dont like putting in a ligit code after install. Ore running updates) What i did not want is install the Windows 8 upgrade on my Windows 7 laptop. Windows 7 works just fine. I could have made some image *.wim from the finall install.
Sow let me finally tell now what to do with the upgrade disk image. Dont use it. Its that simple! Get a Windows 8.1 with update from here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media The image will take a Windows 8 key. Thats what i wanted!!! Normally you would have to install Windows 8.1 with some default key form MS and put in the bought key after install (When using the key from the Windows 8 upgrade disk). That suck.
Well happy installing Windows 8.1 with update1 using you're Windows 8 key. That's my point haha.
Well thats not all for me. I wanted to install Windows 8.1 for a usb stick and with out to many clicks. Sow i did look into some programs like Nlite (XP) Vlite and sow on. Than i found https://www.ntlite.com/ from the same maker of Nlite and Vlite! The program Ntlite works great. Not like Nlite but still great. The build image can be tested with a program like wm player.
Sow in the and i put my Windows 8.1 on my minipc. (Conected to the tv) Windows 8.1 is just great for playing some music and movies. (I hope i can reinstall sometime with some Windows 8 driverpack by the way)
Original i found the information here: http://www.howtogeek.com/187525/how-to-perform-a-clean-install-of-windows-8.1-with-a-windows-8-key/
Hello guys, my brother had this tablet for a short period of time and he upgraded it to windows 10, everything was fine but then he wanted to revert back to windows 8.1 so he wiped everything. After that nothing worked, he kept getting a partition error (missing partition) and could not do anything about it. He gave me the tablet in hopes of fixing it so i got a fresh copy of windows 8.1 from the microsoft downloader and put it on a pen drive. I also used to tool to make it into a bootable storage space and even injected the drivers from the CAB from the dell website using NTlite, but every time i start the setup the touch screen doesn't work (so i used a keyboard) and it also says media driver is missing. When i start the tablet without the usb i get missing hard disk error and can only access the BIOS and diagnostics check (shows no errors there).
This community has helped me before, hopefully they can help me again because i can't seem to wrap myself around the problem
