I have the baseband version i337UCUFNJ4. I rooted the phone using towelroot, then installed BusyBox. I could not download any files regarding SafeStrap from the links on the XDA forum.
How should I proceed to install a custom recovery and installing ROMs?
If the bootloader is locked, you cannot install TWRP or CWM and you can only use touchwiz-based custom ROMs.
Have a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2616221
From the linked thread:
SAFESTRAP IS THE ONLY RECOVERY WE CAN USE!
Don't even try flashing another one. HUGE thanks @Hashcode for starting it and @muniz_ri and @Surge1223 for keeping it going.

Ok guys, have been on these forums for hours but I am still lost.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4, ATT, 4.2.2, I337UCUAMF3, rooted.
I am wanting to flash the 4.4.4 (or whatever the latest android version is) google edition / pure nexus ROM if this is even possible in my case.
From what I have read, I know that I need to flash a custom recovery first. Do I use safestrap? I am not sure how to do this.
Can anyone please link me to the guide that I need for my phone. Thank you in advance.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2616221
So I am at this step:
Which version do I need to flash?
Took NI1 update --> ATT_NI1_modules.zip
Took NC1 update --> ATT_NC1_modules.zip
ODIN NB1 (rootable) --> ATT_NC1_modules.zip -- NC1 Kernel was added to Odin file in order for Towelroot to be compatible.
ODIN MK2 (running KitKat ROMs) --> ATT_MLD_modules.zip -- MLD Kernel is Odin'd as part of the Magic Tool process.
ODIN MK2 (running 4.3 ROMs) --> jflteatt-MK2-modules.zip
If I currently have MF3 bootloader, does this mean I have to upgrade to the latest android software first, and then proceed?

At this point most ROMs are 4.3 and up so yes. They'll have nicer features anyways. I'd say update to NC1 and then root and Safestrap. You could still get Safestrap on MF3, but you'd have to download older versions of ROMs and you'd get no support for them.

I want to post a new thread because it took me a long time before finding a thread about customization of the Canadian Note 8.0 LTE (i467M). By posting a new thread with search tags, hopefully Canadian i467M users can find this useful information.
There is no custom ROM but you can root the tablet and use apps such as Root Uninstaller to de-bloat (remove bundled apps locked in system).
Thanks to Harry_fine, I can confirm that the N5120 kernel is compatible with the i467M.
I picked up a used i467M for $150 and updated 4.1.2 to 4.4.2, then flashed CF-auto root kernel for N5120 and Philz touch CWM recovery for N5120 with Odin. Finally flashed the CivZ-SphereKat-REV5.4 OC kernel by CWM. Everything works smoothly, now I got a faster tablet with OC CPU and GPU.
I did not test LTE because I only use the Note 8.0 as a wifi tablet.
To help other Canadian users with the i467M + Android 4.4.2 Kitkat to mod their tablets, you can find the necessary components here:
(1) CF_Auto Root for N5120 - flash with Odin to gain root if you are not rooted
NOTE: when you first run SuperSU, it will ask if you want to disable Samsung KNOX, which I did.
(2) Philz Touch v6.15.4 for N5120 - flash with Odin to install CWM touch recovery
(3) Civato's CivZ-SphereKat-REV5.4 for N5120 - flash OC kernel with CWM
(Users who have never done flashing should google and read carefully on how to use Odin to flash kernels and recovery modules (in TAR format) and how to use CWM to flash the OC kernel (in ZIP format). These guides are everywhere. It is not that difficult and scary to do)
P.S. I also tried another custom OC kernel (Boeffla Kernel). CWM appeared to successfully flash the kernel, but it did not load when I reboot ("About device" shows the original kernel).

Verizon Note 3, can a custom rom be put on 4.4.2?
RomsWell said:
Just odin the nc2 kernel. Safestrap. Make a backup in ss of your current stock rooted setup.
Wipe dalvik data and system under advance wipe in ss and then flash your rom. Rinse and repeat for your next rom. You do not need to re-odin the kernel when switching roms. And always flash to the stock slot. Multi slot setups have been problematic since the kk update.

Does this odin of the nckernel.tar.md5.zip work on 4.4.2? And can a custom rom be added with or after?
I have Verizon Note 3 with 4.4.2 on it. I have safestrap 3.75. What I want to do is put Nitroglycerine's Note 3 Eclipse ROM on it. Can anyone give me a step by step guide. I've searched the forums, but it is like finding a needle in a haystack. I recall seeing a video guide by droid modder x which showed replacing the stock rom slot with a custom rom in its place, but I think that was for 4.3 note 3's. Is it possible to get Eclipse TW Note3 v.2.01 on a 4.4.2. I have a house full of rooted phones via Odin, never used safestrap much, and a bit concerned since Hash looks like he has to work on other things besides safestrap.
So can we get a custom rom on note 3 verizon with 4.4.2?
I'm with ya
So... who is taking over for hash?
SS 3.72
I'm using safestrap 3.72. Can i flash using this version?
Had to replace my note and got a stock NC4 device now. I rooted it and got busybox and root access working. I then got safe strap installed and it boots up just fine. Now for the issue, when i try to install any rom it fails every time. Has anyone run into this issue and if so can you point me in the right direction to get back to flashing and moding

PMFJI, dumb question, but have you installed SuperSU?
safestrap/jasmine rom question
Hi I have a Verizon note 3 with jasmine rom v2.0. Rooted, flashed NC4 over NC2, on 4.2.2. used safestrap 3.75 but this was a little while ago. Done some poking around and havn't really seen anything as far as if there is a version of safestrap where the rom slots work. Or do I still need to install my rom to the stock slot? Looking to upgrade to the newer jasmine rom. Would the instructions be the same as the old ones for installing? If someone could help me out or point me to the right thread I would appreciate it thanks!
Flashing NC2 Kernel
Im currently on NC4 OTA with Safestrap installed and working. Custom roms do not work, however. Most threads all say to flash the NC2 kernel, which will allow me to install custom roms to other rom slots.
Is this correct? Do i only need to flash the NC2 Kernel? And if I do, will my NC4 stock rom slot still boot?
If I remember right you'll need to Odin nc2 over nc4 so that your roms will work. Also with using safe strap on the note 3 I think you will have to flash to stock slot none of the other rom slots were workin at the time when I was flashing mine over so make a good backup through SS before you do anything. It's been a while since I've messed with mine still running jasmine 2.0. Just find a good set of instructions or video and go with it
Cannot save or install ROMs - Rooted, SafeStrap installed, Knox OK
Howdy, folks!
I understand there is no more support for SafeStrap. Posting anyway, hoping an unofficial reply may be helpful... Thanks.
As I understand it, in order to save or install ROMs I *must* use SafeStrap. Is this so?
I see 3 different SafeStraps at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/?id=1481#downloads
3.75 b03 / 3.65 / 3.75 b04
Maybe using a version other than the one I already tried (3.75 b04) will fix my issue?
My Verizon Note 3 details: SM-N900V / Android 4.4.2 / Kernel 3.4.0-1487472 / build version NC4 / bootloader NC4 / Knox = 0x0 / Build date 4/28/14.
Device is rooted (via TowelRoot and confirmed with Titanium Backup). Safestrap 3.75 is "Installed". BusyBox 1.232 is installed.
When I run SafeStrap the screen shows "State: Installed" and "Safe System: Not Active".
Tapping "Reboot to Recovery" does reboot the phone but I do NOT get any options to save or install any ROMs. The phone just reboots.
I thought I read somewhere I may need to (somehow) roll back to NC2... Or try something called ODIN? I dunno...
Any ideas, folks?
Thanks much!
Hello, I am new to this rooting and flashing stuff on the Samsung Galaxy s4 4G, and i just wanted to know how i can flash a 5.X.X custom rom from the stock 4.4.2 rom from the very beginning.
It would be nice if someone could post a link to a tutorial or something i can follow to flash my phone.
I have read some of the guides but i cannot understand what to do as the instructions seem to advanced.
Thank you
First you need a custom recovery. I recommend TWRP. Just google TWRP S4 and it will take you to the S4 section. There you have the download link and some install instructions. I recommend using the Odin method.
Then you need Odin. Odin 3.09 or 3.10 works. Sorry I cannot post links, I'm on mobile and it's pretty tricky getting everything together.
Flashing a custom recovery or rom is pretty much the same for all S4 models (with a few exceptions).
Installing the recovery is the most difficult part if you're a beginner. Installing the custom rom is as simple as selecting it and confirming the procedure.
Can i install TRWP recovery without rooting my phone?
Currently i have updated to the stock 5.0.1 rom and am trying to root my phone to install the custom recovery.
TWRP 2.8.6.0 is available as a tar file flashable through Odin without rooting. From there, upgrade to 2.8.7.0.
So is root required to flash a custom rom? Or can i just flash a TWRP recovery then flash the custom rom from there?
Thank you
Edit: Thank you for your help i have figured it out

Hello,
Can anyone make a collection of ROM that can flash in I337 with locked bootloader? Or ROM base on Touchwiz and stock kernel, flash via safestrap.
ATT I337 - Locked bootloader - safestrap installed - Rooted.
Thanks you.
