hi
thanks
i will switch the phone in english and i will try
i have to move all my contact from the sim to the device ,haven't I?
Yes do that first time. Then evertime you activate your Gmail account automatically synchronize your mails and contacts especially if you are switching from one phone to another. Even on new sim card as long as you can activate your Google account.

Hi -- if I do not use Gmail for my email, will Google grab any Contacts I place on the phone? If so, how can I prevent this?
to do so you have to go in settings, sync option and disable the contacts synchronization. Easy.

I see what you are saying, but would that not disable me from doing a PC to phone sync for a non-Gmail based email account?
I realize that Everything Is Connected is pretty much Android's theme song, but I need the ability to choose the connections.
Do you know what Google is up to in your phone when your eyes are closed?
I don't have sync application in my phone to upload my contacts to google, so if someone can upload the sync apk from stock 2.1 update 1 ?
or is there a better application?
thanx

what ? plz explain in details.
There's no sync app.
It's in the settings - accounts and sync(i'm not sure, my phone is on russian)
There if you dont have any accounts tap on new account there you can register a new google account,or use existing.
Then just activate sync and here you go.
You can check it via http://www.google.com/contacts.
thanx actually I'd forgotten it, hehehe, +1
Hello! (excuse my english)
I have a problem in my Defy (2.2) with the synchronization of contacts and calendar with Google. When I synchronize my contacts, the contacts that I deleted came back and the new ones disappear. In the calendar the same thing happens. I looked around a lot and found no solution. Can anyone help me?
Do u use google calendar sync and google contacts sync for outlook? Or any other sync tool for comp and account?
Do u use msoutlook or website for google account?

Hi, Thanks for helping!
I don't use outlook for anything, not even in my computer. I use website for google account always, and I dont have any other sync tool for google.
It's like, it transfer the "old" data from the website (calendar and contacts) to my device, instead updating all.
So in settings>accounts and synchronization u have checked 'Data in background' and when u checkmark 'autosync' and press your google account u have checked 'contacts' and 'calendar'? (after checking u can uncheck 'autosync')

Well, my phone have only the option "accounts" (not accounts and synchronization); I open "accounts", select my google account and then I have a list: sync contacts, sync gmail, sync calendar. If I want to sync I have to press one by one.
In settings>Data manager>data delivery, I have always checked "background data", if thats what you talking about.
Note: My android is 2.2.1 and I have not enabled motoblur, if that helps.
Well, no more ideas. I had motoblur just for a moment (mean few hours), then switched to custom ROM without motoblur.
The problem is strange but maybe u can try switching motoblur on, as it is to do with accounts sync. Give it a try.

Hi there,
a friend of mine got a new s4. We booted it and added google information. Everything syncs under settings/accounts/google account, including app data, chrome, gmail, google photos etc
The problem is that there is no Sync Contacts so the google contaacts do not sync with the device.
any ideas?
thanks.

Go into settings>accounts and click on google after that click on your gmail account email address.
After that you will see many sync options including "sync contacts" check mark it and it will sync.
Good luck!

Make sure it has this GoogleContactsSyncAdapter.apk in system/app/ folder.
This app syncs phone contacts with Google.
I added a new contact to my Gmail contact list last week using the web interface at contacts.google.com. The new contact is not showing up on my V20 (recently upgraded to Oreo). My other Google contacts seem to be there. I have manually synced my Google contacts via Android Settings, and have checked that the Contacts app is set to show "All Contacts". Any idea why the new contact is not showing in the app?
Make sure your phone is syncing google contacts and is set to on.

Yes I have the contacts option turned on under my Gmail account settings, and have manually synced from the Gmail account page in Android Settings several times
