Cannot set Country code - Thinkpad Tablet General

Thanks to ionioni my yoga 2 1050 has been rescued, but just a small problem now after first boot as instructed I go into contacts and enter ####59930# and it shows country unknown, then enter ####6020# to set the code and on screen it says ERROR : could not read factory ota patch from sd card,or the patch is not correct.
I know not setting the country code prevents me from taking updates, is there a way around this as in put the file on the sd card for the tablet to read.

take the easyimage.zip from the extracted rom folder and copy it on the sdcard (on the root of it not in some folder) then try again.

you can delete the easyimage.zip from sdcard if you configured your code (it is only needed one time for a few files in the zip that are used when configuring)

Hi,
I got the same problem, my version is YT2_830LC_USR_S000133_1501151106_WW21_ROW. Is there anyone got the easyimage.zip of this version? I tried YT2_830LC_USR_S000120 but failed.

I solved the problem using another way:
1. Flash the tablet using Lenovo's stock firmware (USR_S000050).
2. On the first boot, set country code.

[Q] Droid Pro Update sucks

OK, I tried to update the phone 6 times now.
The normal way always ended with "update not installed".
I tried with the Recovery Mode ... also no luck.
I reset the phone to factory data and tried to update again... also no luck.
It always ended after checking "/system/app/BackupAssistanceClient.apk" ... installation aborted.
The zip file is ok, no problems....
Any hint for me?
These instructions can help and more info about the update.

Edit: Link problem
Edit 2: Link been fix
I guess you uninstalled the program BackupAssistanceClient.apk. We must throw back the program. You can take them out of the old firmware http://www.mediafire.com/?4450xiqnxngzq.
You'll need two programs: SBF-ReCalc 1.2.9.1 and Diskinternals Linux_Reader
First you understand the firmware to the code groups. You will need a group number 39.
The second program allows you to get out of the code of the folder system.
To do this:
1. Install and run the prog.
2. Click the menu item Drivers Mount Image.
3. Were 39 group, and click Mount. In the program window will appear system (Linux native Volume 1) with all its contents.
4. Select the desired item and right-click choose Save, and then follow the instructions.
5. That's all you have files you need.

Motostigr, you are my hero
You were right. I deleted a few programs and that was the reason for the failed update.
As most of the time the failure is sitting in front of the pc/phone
Thank you!

[REF] Manually change "sales code" (CSC selection) when multi-CSC won't allow you to

[REF] Manually change "sales code" (CSC selection) when multi-CSC won't allow you to
I've recently been getting annoyed with how, whenever I updated a firmware, on first boot the phone would still look for an invalid CSC code, which I had "removed" from the phone.
For example, none of the XEU CSCs currently available will allow you to change to / from XEU as those CSCs don't include other options. ... so if you've manually set your CSC to XEE using the *#272*IMEI# trick; there's no way to get back to XEU.
The solution is as follows: (yes, you need root)
1) Ensure the product code in your nvram.bin file is set how you want it, in this case XEU. (it's in the file twice, once on it's own and once at the end of the "I9100LKA" string. Both those should be at the end of line 215 of the file)
2) (and this is the new bit) - there's another file on the phone which stores the "Sales Code" - its the file that tells the phone what CSC to look for on first boot after flashing a firmware. This file doesn't change unless you can successfully use the *#272*IMEI# trick!
2a) Using a file browser that has root privileges, navigate to /efs/imei/ then look for the file "mps_code.dat"
2b) Open this file as a text document (making sure you're mounted R/W) and edit the string to whatever you want (in this case XEU). Note, you should only put in the 3 letter code, not the rest of the product code.
2c) Save the file and reboot the phone. Hey presto you're on a different CSC!
(and I *think* this trick works to change CSC (without actually installing one, obviously), without wiping the /data partition.
wow great work
ok maybe it's just me but I cannot locate the nvram.bin file anywhere????
I'm on ke7 cf rooted and using script manager to browse system, could u direct me pls as I am running around in circles here.
I found efs/imei and that is xeu but i'm stuck on abr somewhere and it's causing me a few probs.
what and where is this "nvram.bin" file ? thanks

My method on SGS1 was to use custom rom from rom kitchen open that and just change the required CSC folder and files with new folder and files zip back up and install .
Does not work yet on SGS 2 due to being unable to rezip and install custom roms .
Work around has just been to copy the relevant \CSC folder and two CSC files + SW conf file to phone deleting originals . Files have been ripped from original firmware nandroid backup .
Factory reset and all changed .

Ok dokie...thanks for the explanation.

No, because there is no "nvram.bin" inside the latest (-> KE2, KE7, KF1) stock firmwares!
And changing only "mps_code.dat" won't do the trick as this will only create a new "nv_data.bin" after next reboot.
And if you would delete this new "nv_data.bin" (hoping that the files will be recreated/replaced at next reboot, this worked with SGS like this) you will end up with NO ProductCode and an fake IMEI too! So you should be VERY careful modding anything inside of /efs!
I edited the nv data.bin as well from KOR to BTU is this not a wise thing to do on GS3?

Solution to Change sales code
How to change CSC sales code on Samsung Galaxy S2?
1.Just type *#272*Device IMEI# at Phone dial pad.
2.Select the CSC that you want.
3.Click Install.
4.Phone will be rebooted by itself.
5.That’s all.

Changing radio!

Ok.... I've seen a lot of users in many forums that want change the radio...
See HERE!!!! For european with Argentinian radio!!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27649093&postcount=25
I've changed the radio on droid pro... (american)
But I didn't remember how!!
Edit...
Yes I know....! With rsdlite... Ok rsdlite can rewrite the radio. Sbf_flash no...
The American users know this thing, but for European it is a good news, because they can flash an american/argentinian sbf without changing radio.... Naturally with sbf_flash...
Flashing american on european with rsdlite will brick your phone, without changing the radio...
European on American with rsdlite will brick your phone, without changing your radio...
But if you'll use sbf flash, your phone will be glad!
You must see only if you have a locked kernel... (argentinian 2.3.6 I'm sure... for american 2.3.4, I don't know...)
Attention!!!
Argentinian gsm is 800/2100
European gsm is 900/1200
So we can understand the european's issues with argentinian rom....
I'm always sure that we must search the radio in the sbf! Not files...
I've done some steps here, only for trying...
1) Put your phone in bootloader mode
2) Start with Linux Knoppix live cd
3) Open terminal emulator from your folder where you have your sbf (i've used 2.26.20 verizon SBF..))
4) put also sbf_flash in the same folder ( you can find here:http://blog.opticaldelusion.org/search/label/sbf_flash )
chmod +x sbf_flash
then
sudo ./sbf_flash -r --bpsw 2260.sbf
Connect your phone...
Reboot and now you'll have a new radio!
See HERE!!!! For european with Argentinian radio!!!

Just tried the hack. Unfortunately I don't notice any progress.
In fact the extracted files are missing after reboot (no bp_nvm_default folder). I searched for them earlier in order to use basebandswitcher but never found them.
Maybe the whole telephony module really is emulated in java (see /system/etc/init.goldfish.sh)? But what would it mean for us?
I also tried 3 other ways yesterday without success:
- tried to flash bp.img from Blur_Version.4.7.3XT610.Verizon.en.US.zip --> status 7 error in CWM
- flash a zip containing radio.img of a european Pro+ update --> installs too fast without any noticable difference. Looks like he is ignoring the radio
- flashed JackpotCalvin's ICS rom which also includes bootmenu with a 2nd boot config only containing init.mapphone_umts.rc --> I may have done something wrong during the process but coulnd't see any difference
@any user of the US-verizon model: can you choose between more than "USA Band" when you do the following?
- dial *#*#4636#*#*
- go to "Phone Information"
- press menu softkey
- select radio band
@anyone with original european froyo: what choices do you have?
Ive seen different models (including Pro+) which always let me choose between 5-6 different basebands.

Try to move manually the folder bp_nvm
Or Try this...
Install a nandroid backup of original american 2.3.3 (very original!!)
then try to recive the update from verizon and install it
Will I need to pull battery for 3 hours if I do the verizon update?
Boh....!!!! But I've seen your pm! Did you phone restart?
In my experience my phone restart in about 3 ours... coming from froyo...
But coming from 2.3.6?

I don't know if this will help you or not, but I have the VZW 4.7.3 SBF file now. I just got it from a friend who pulled it from Motorola's server.
I have not tested it yet and have no need to as my Pro is already on 4.7.3 and rooted and is an engineering model anyway.
I will upload it somewhere to post publicly tonight or tomorrow when I get the chance.

I may have good news everyone!
After I have some issues with the 3g hack (files not showing up after reboot), I unzipped them manually. Then I changed permissions to rw-r--r-- and installed Defy+ baseband switcher to changed baseband to European (900/2100).
Since I've been mainly in areas with good signal quality the last week, I'm not a 100% sure if it really improved anything. But it feels like it!
Can someone please try this workaround for verification? The needed files are attached.
Thanks!
the right steps are?
1) Extract your I and II zips file in our pc
2) copy folder bp_nvm_default (II zip) from our pc to our phone under system/etc/motorola
3) set permissions
4) copy basebandswitcher (I Zip) from your II zip to /system/app, set permission to rw-r-r
5) Reboot
6) Open the new app
7) Or use my rom....! ;-)
it is right?

Your should get OTA updates. Simply download OTAs and install.. Or you could also manually download b608 and upgrade your mobile..
Upgrading via Manual Way:
Download the firmware
Extract the zipped file where you should get update.app file (may be inside some folders)
Then copy the update.app file in a folder named dload and copy the dload folder into the root of you're memory card
Open your dialer and dial the following: *#*#2846579#*#*
Then a Menu will appear and them choose SDCard Upgrade.
That's it
Because I am not sure where to pur rhem,I created 2 folders, one in external sd and one in internal. Both named DLOAD and inside i've put unzipped updaten
Tried to update with with both ways. It's failed
There are 2 b608, one is patch and the other is full ROM.
Download and open the zip, if you see folders and one say patch is the wrong one, if only have the update.app is the right one.
Rhe easy way is:
Create a dload folder in microSD ( don't use caps, DLOAD doesn't work, must be dload)
Copy to inside the update.app file
Turn off the phone amd press the volume keys and power, all the 3 keys at same time and release when phone boots.
Flash will start.
.
Thank you! It finally worked.

B32 SD Update Error: can't be copied because it is too large for the volume's format?

Hey everyone,
I'm trying to comply update to my device using the B32 firmware downloaded on ZTE USA Support site. The file is large, too large for FAT32, at 5.39GB.
I have tried copying it using android transfer on my mac, ejecting the microSD and using a regular SD adapter and copying it that way, and I have also tried just downloading right from the Software Update screen. The first two methods errored with (https://ibb.co/kjh4yG).
The software update fails with a message explaining that the firmware found and downloaded by the phone does not match the device...?
I have been on the old firmware for what feels like a year now. I'm hoping you all can shed some light on this.
Thanks

You have two ways to do this:
-If your internet is decent enough just forget about the SD card and download the update on your phone. Afterwards, download 'RAR' from the play store, find the downloaded file (in Downloads), and open the zip file. If you find a PDF and a file called 'update.zip' inside, simply select it and unzip it to the root of your sd card (put '/storage/emulated/0/ on the Destination path). So you will have an 'update.zip' file there. You don't need to unzip this one. Now go to Settings, Updates, then let it scan and it should find the file, update and voila
-Format your SD Card to exfat and pop the file right in
It's weird that the update file is that huge, since usually files for the A2017G are around 2.1 gigs
It worked my friend!!!
I installed RAR, then went inside the downloaded file, found update.zip and unzipped it to '/storage/emulated/0. Did not find any PDF file though, not sure what that would have been for..? Anyway, saw the MiFavor firmware update screen which meant we were on our way to finish line. After that it booted to a small tiny linux penguin symbol and black background. Tried rebooting by holding down the power button. Rebooted. Saw penguin again for like 5 seconds, then booted straight to the axon wavy weird startup sequence. I DID IT!! I really appreciate the help on this one. Great idea. And it worked flawlessly.

Lol. The signup dialog said 'Choose an username...', so i said, why not?
I think you downloaded directly the update.zip. Maybe the RAR part wasn't needed, I dunno. If there's a folder somewhere there called 'update' then just delete it, and the update.zip too
A larger than 5Gb update would have to be the file fully unzipped into a folder structure.
Update files are zipped and that's what the phone wants.

I downloaded one of the two raw zips from the ZTE USA site that had a very long name.zip with all numbers. The "update.zip" was nestled inside after unzipping the file on the phone. I just picked that file and moved it to ther root and applied the update. It went through successfully. Did i not apply it correctly? Should i have just renamed that whole file to "update.zip" and moved the entire folder? A little confused. But i imagine if the update took and i saw the 32 in the current build of the device it took. But im not sure.

It’s weird the update was only about 2 GB. What do you think was the rest of the file?
Maybe in case it needed the full firmware. In this case it didn’t probably. Just a guess

No, that doesn't make sense. No idea really.
It couldn't have gone wrong so don't stress out. Your phone works. If it didn't work then yeah, something was wrong...
