This morning my Mate 8 3/32 NXT-L29 international version unrooted received an OTA update of about 500 MB.
It took about 10-15 minutes for installation (download time excluded)
Now the ROM version is NXT-L29C432B152
Changelog (translated from Italian):
Added Google Now on Tap
Latest Google security patches
Increased stability
Battery drain optimization
WeChat power drain problem solved
It's yet too early for any evaluation about a notification problem solution and other real improvements, I'll see today.
Cool!

Hi !
I'm new on Android, and it is writen : "Make sure your phone has been rooted before doing the update"
It is necessary to root my phone ? Or can I do the update ?
Thank you !

I didn't pay a lot of attention to that message (mine Mate was stock and not rooted), but for what I remember it was written (in italian):
be sure your phone is NOT rooted.
I can't post link, but delete the space between "noel" and "shack"
See this screenshoot
noel shack.com/2016-05-1454496441-screenshot-2016-02-03-11-45-52.jpg
It's in French.
It is written :
"Assurez vous que votre téléphone ait été rooté avant de faire la mise à jour"
>"Make sure your phone has been rooted before doing the update"
It looks like a mistake in the Huawei's chinese-to-french translation... not uncommon indeed...
Anyway, be confident, the OTA update worked perfectly on mine stock unrooted NXT-L29.
Ok, I found it weird
I realized the update, is ok !
Thank you ! :good:
What if rooted
Question.. What happens if I apply a OTA update on a rooted phone? Will I still be able to re-root it, right?
Any experience here?
Thanks a lot for your feedbacks. Cheers!

lost camera icon in home screen after upgrade to emui 3.0
I have done the online upgrade from EMUI 2.3 to 3.0 yesterday. Everything fine but I have lost the camera icon in the home screen. I can only find the camera icon in the right bottom at the logout screen. Once login, I can't locate the camera icon. Is there anyway to build the icon back?
It has to be there, in spanish version it has a different name and icon but it is there.
Check carefully all the screens and the drawer
Since I updated my Honor 6 L04 at EMUI 3.0 (the update B370), when I start the Radio FM app it remains at "Scanning stations..." forever.
Has anyone the same issue?
Is a problem with my device?
Thanks,

Thats not only your problem. Looks like this issue is reproducible for a lot of users with B370 firmware. I haven't seen yet any fix for this.

I have the same device with H60-L04V100R001C00B370 and it works properly with a regular headset plugged in but battery is worst than EMUI 2.3.
The update says that I should not have a rooted phone before I update? Will this break my root or xposed maybe?
Well I had a rooted phone with CWM and the update failed. I had to perform following before I could do the update.
My method to update to B370 after error due to root and non-stock recovery
But my phone is just rooted.. I do not have custom recovery installed.. Anyone updated from that scenario?

Found Marshmellow Update Link for Honor 7
Hi,
I have purchased this phone but sadly its Model Number PLK-UL00 not PLK-L01. I have upgraded to the latest build EMUI4.0_PLK-UL00_6.3.1 which is Android Version 6.0.
My question is - can I upgrade to EU version of the firmware PLK-L01 B320 or less. All I want is to get rid of all the chinese apps and replace them with pure google + english ones. Please help
Can you make a banana milkshake with strawberries? You can't. Same with installing the European build Android on Indian, Chinese etc.

Hi - Indian firmware version starts with PLK-UL00IN. My mobile firmware version is PLK-UL00. Shouldn't I be able to upgrade to the India firmware.
My apologies to the admin in advance as I have posted similar question in a different thread. But this thread is more suitable to the topic. I am a novice when it comes to firmware.
I tried updating , it failed.. the software update guidelines.pdf which was part of the update states "software version control problems, you should firstly upgrade a transfer package provided by R&D." wher do i get that ?

Hi I updated it with the link provided. Did the archive download properly? Since it's an internal document, I don't think the package is available in public domain. You can check for the rollback package which is given in one of the threads. It might work. Or use the honor multi tool.
Btw, this update is 2 steps forward and one step back. Some good features like visitor mode have been removed. Call recording has become problematic. Previously, I could record easily using boldbeast call recorder. Settings are much more difficult to find. On the positive side, battery backup has jumped tremendously. Plugged out at 9.40 am today. My phone is still at 75 percent at 6.30 pm with moderate use. There is no doze mode setting but I think they have incorporated some features as I can see that phone goes into sleep when screen is off much more frequently. Also, the awesome themes that lollipop had are no more there. Not even the live wallpapers. Mixed feelings about the update overall.

Yeah I was on 160 and did a local update as you suggested. Better download it again. But frankly, I am finding the update more regressive than progressive.

I think many of us may not be aware as how to perform local update in honor 7 which has marshmallow installed on it. I have gone through it and understand how it feels when you download an update and while trying to find local update option update app. Its frustrating and discouraging too. But I could find the way to do it on some other site. Its simple and easy. Just see below.
How to Update
Unpack the firmware package on your computer.
Transfer the extracted dload folder to your phone’s microSD card.
Take a backup of your important stuff using Huawei’s native app.
Safely unplug the USB cable and turn your phone off.
Reboot while holding Vol Up + Vol down + Power for a few seconds. Release Power upon vibration.
Once the upgrade starts let go of the volume keys and allow the installation to proceed.
And enjoy

Hi, mine is Malaysia set, now at latest firmware B130. Is it safe for me to update to B330 ?
So i am now starting to get extremely frustrated with Huaweis support teams and the lack of information on here. I have been waiting for a nougat update since the betas last December came out and still nothing. I watch every device model of the mate8 get this update except the model i have listed in the title. Even the L09C636... so where the update for the dual sim L29? and why are there basically no useful threads for it?
I have tried unlocking the bootloader to install the last beta build i have downloaded because it wont install with the official update app. The emui site that is listed all over the mate8 forum keeps telling me that i have not been signed into my huawei ID for more then 14 days when in reality, it has been for almost 2 months now. Im tired of waiting and once again huaweis support is useless in this respect even though they have a whole official page dedicated to unlocking the bootloader.
So I am here with a last ditch effort to finally enjoy this phone. I really want to keep it becasue its had the best battery life on any phone ive tested of late, and its super fast and snappy. Im just picky on software updates becasue like most of you. I like to be as up to date as possible.
Please if you have any info or sites that can help me out with this issue put something in the comments, it would be greatly appreciated.
also im in canada if that has anything to do with my problems, because this is the Asian model of the device.

It wasn't working perfectly at all, I only just installed the nougat update yesterday by the Huawei firmware finder app and proxy. The page for the official firmware thread on here hasn't been updated yet to show the new b521 build, it's still on the b321 and below with dead links.
But I digress I found what I was looking for finally even if jumping through hoops to get it and being the last device model to do so.
I'm just happy to finally be running nougat

Hi there
It's so outrageous that we don't have Nougat for C636.
Someone should post a message in twitter or social media on Huawei's pages... Maybe the Singapore one as the C636 is the Asian model.
Though there are a couple of Nougat betas... We still don't have a stable version and we are way past Q1 2017 which was when Huawei said the Mate 8 would be updated...

Hey, just want you all to know there is a new update that fixes several issues.
It says only for Australia, but it worked fine on mine here in Denmark. You can also get the update from the Russian ZTE webpage.
You now finally got live wallpapers.
Small bugs and tweaks makes it fee morel smooth.
Fix for 256Gb SD cards.
1. Before you perform this update, please update to ZTE A2017GV1.0.0B10 first.
2. This update is only available for users in Australia. Users in other countries shall be individually responsible for update risks.
3. It is strongly recommended to back up your data in advance because this is a critical update.
4. It may take longer than usual to restart your phone right after updating.
5. Some third-party apps have adapted to Android 7.1. If a third-party app does not work properly, please uninstall it and then download the latest version.
6. If you want to revert from the latest version to an earlier version, you may download the package to your SD card from official website. Reverting to an earlier version will erase all data, please back up data before you

Hi,
it worked for me instantly on MHA-L29C432B198 (which I changed to from C636 using a couple of days on funky).
Thanks, Kurt
Worked for me to from MHA-L29C432B198 to MHA-L29 8.0.0.361 (C432) ...Thx for the tip.
I hope battery life remained as before under N!

For me it's above average like on nougat, I'm around 4-6 hours of screen on-time.
Will I get upadate without SIM?
Dumb question, but I was hoping to hang on to my current phone until my Mate 9 gets Oreo. Which means my M9 does not have a SIM in it. However, I am connected to WiFi.
I'm waiting on official push versus Region changes or FF installs.
I have the US version, MHA-L29C567B190 . Thanks.
It doesn't work for me in the UK. I've also checked using firmware finder and the only firmware approved for installation is for 636 however I have a 432 direct from Huawei as a replacement for a broken Nexus 6P that was still covered under EU warranty.

It didn't work for me too. But I was able to update my MHA-L29C636 to Oreo 360 through FF about 26 hours ago.
Battery life is good and Oreo is smooth. I love the navigation floating button.
Authentication Failed
Changed the Region - Got the Update in HiCare App - Waited for the Download to Complete and In the End Got this!
Any Ideas?
