So on the K8 Round/K18 and K8 Mini/D5 on completely stock firmware I've noticed some consistent issues on my device
D5- Stock kills data and Weather doesn't work
*Mini- Stock kills data but Weather works (very inconsistent)
K18- Stock w OTA doesn't kill data but Weather works (very inconsistent)
K8 Round- Stock w OTA doesn't kill data but Weather works (very inconsistent)
*This is the D5 running Mini firmware
How it was tested:
Connected to Wifi
GPS lock
Location service enable and set to "High Accuracy"
Set display timeout to 5min
Check Weather
Wait til display turns off
Wait 5-10min
Turn on display an check connection status (swipe up from bottom of display on watchface)
My case:
- K8 Mini
Wifi/Data turn off (ones screen turns off) and weather (surprisingly) works. (First time I have seen it working)

Just recently iv noticed that the weather animation on my home screen isnt updating, the my location and current temp update as they should but the animation doesnt.
For example in my weather tab now its showing just the sun symbol, however my home screen is showing clouds, the only way to get it to change is by soft resetting the phone.
Has anybody else had this problem or know of a solution, Im using a stock non operator specific uk rom.
Use the search function.
I have and it returns over 30 odd pages which iv looked through but cant find anything specific to my problem.

I have a very similar problem. In my case the "My Location" temp. and animation do not update as long as I either use WiFi or in a 3G/H area.
It does not update automatically and nither if I tap "update Now" All other locations do update w/o any problem. If I turn off WiFi or go to a "normal G or E reception zone then and only then "My Location" temp. and animation do update.
I never use wifi only 3G/HSDPA.
I only ever use my location, dont really have a need for anywhere else.
It always updates correctly in the weather tab however what shows in the weather tab is different to what shows on my home screen like now for instance, the weather tab shows its sunny but my home screen has clouds rolling across it. However the location, current,hi and low temps are the same in both weather tab and home screen.
Soft resetting the phone brings everything back in line until the next update that changes the weather picture.

i have the exact same problem as you. Mine used to update on 3G/H until yesterday, now it only updates over Egde. I've changed radios and even flashed different roms, no difference.
Hi Guys,
I have a very specific challenge for the ones who know more than me.
Problem statement:
- I'm a diabetic and wear a certain glucose sensor which can se scanned via NFC with the mobile phone to measure blood glucose. It can be scanned either via manufacurer's app, or other 3rd party apps (like Glimp)
- problem is that this sensor is "set" to only last 14 days, on the dot!
- I've figured out that this "duration" is highly dependant on the time/date of the Android device/time of sensor activation: if I set the time back a few days it will show more time left of the sensor but the app has a built-in feature which does not allow me to scan the sensor if the Android's "Automatic time/date detection" feature is turned OFF, hence the predicament
The Challenge is to trick the app to think the app into thinking the "Automatic time/date detection" is turned ON, while being able to alter the device's time (into the past) so it would allow more run time days out of the sensor (which is quite expensive to replace and otherwise seems to be able to work just fine for a longer period).
Would this be possible? It would sure help me a lot!
try the next:
-turn off time/date auto update
-set up date what you want
-enter airplane mod... make sure wifi turned off too
-turn on time/date auto update
hit thanks if it working
Hi,
Thanks for your reply! Unfortunately, the time sets back to current time once I re-enable Automatic time/date.
Wifi/4G OFF + Plane mode ON.
@yussuf007 - you da' man!
With a little bit more tinkering I managed to fool the thing. Procedure is the following:
- enter airplane mode ... no need to turn off wifi/4G, they will be off once airplane is enabled
-turn off time/date auto update
- set up date what you want
- RESTART PHONE
- turn back ON time/date auto update
- turn back ON NFC
- Scan sensor. The thing now thinks it's back in time and works fine.
Thanks again!
I have flashed Customized IN with Newflasher (G8142)

Problem getting notifications from apps (Probably may occur on other devices with OneUI as I found on S9 forum)
Issue:
Whenever the device goes into sleep (screen turned off, at least 10 minute period passes) I no longer receive notifications from various apps like Gmail, Whatsapp, Messenger Lite, etc.
Steps taken:
1. Device Care / Battery / Settings:
- disabled "auto disable unused apps"
- prepared the list of apps to be put to sleep when device not in use (the above WERE NOT included)
2. Device Care / Memory / Apps that aren't checked:
- added all apps mentioned above
3. Settings / Apps / Special access / Optimise battery usage:
- disabled for all apps mentioned above
4. Tested also the same with all "adaptive battery", "put unused apps to sleep" etc DISABLED.
Note:
Device is not muted and/or not in "do not disturb" mode. All normally working fine (up till couple of minutes).
Problem:
After couple of minutes I stop receiving any notifications....
Is it OneUI specific? Anybody knows anything?
Device is not rooted, not modified, running latest (11.04.2019) available stock firmware (XEO).
Bump
Hi,
Not having such a problem here,
With what you specified, i see that the issue could be in wifi settings, did you check if your connection is not stopped when phone goes in deep sleep? There's an option in wifi settings for that...

Unfortunately the issue is not that simple. It appears both while connected via wifi at home and also if connected to LTE only when outside.
Additionally the option you are refering to does exist in Samsungs Nougat roms but does not in Pie.
Well. Maybe the upcoming May update will fix this (I've seen on sammobile that this firmware is being rolled out in Europe)
As suggested by @dulemars on another thread I've tried to enable always on for mobile network (developer options - see attached screenshot). Let's see if this helps
edit: just tested couple of times, unfortunately - does not work
Ok - here's some more info.
Finally after doing again (for the 7th? 8th? time) all the above (including making mobile data active to always) and including Whatsapp, etc apps into the exception lists for memory checking and disallowing battery optimisations for them AND (that is the important bit) when I changed firmware to new update (unfortunately since the update for XEO is not available as for now, I've chosen to install firmware from another region - BTU) issues seems to be resolved (tested several times and well... I am receiving notifications now).
Firmware which does work is the firmware from May 2019 ( A405FNXXU1ASE3 ) but as I said before... at least for me - it requires some painful customuzations... which is insane... previously I just installed any messaging/mailing app and... it worked out of the box...
edit a day later: not quite working, still sometimes messages are not delivered ontime (i.e. with 20-30 minute delay), it is observable better since this patch but still not ok.
any clues anyone?
Since I was not able to resolve this frustrating issue I've decided to sell my A40.
Bought (again) new A40. And... well... no issue so far (but I have firmware from 01.07.2019 so not sure if this is firmware or hardware related after all (although if hardware then this would be quite weird).
Hi, I'm running a rooted stock Oreo (version 8.0.0) and I've just discovered that when I turn flight mode on, if I then turn wifi on, I get the pop-up message "In flight mode" and the wifi icon in Quick Settings stays a light blue shade but Wifi doesn't actually turn on.
I may be mistaken but I thought this was working last year and I haven't done any updates to the phone.
Anyone have any ideas how to fix this?
Kind regards,
Mack.
Hi, I'm pretty sure you can use this:
SystemUI Tuner - Apps on Google Play
PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE INSTALLING
play.google.com
One of the settings allows you to tune Airplane Mode.
Just to update - I think there must have been some kind of data corruption... I did a factory reset and it all worked correctly again.
