for those who have it how long does the battery last with a normal use?(calls, sms and internet)Thank you in advance
No exact figure but I can easily go a day without charging and that's using BT carkit for over 1 hour. About 10 calls - 30 mins total and about 10 SMS.
Sometimes have wifi on also in the evenening to use Agile Messenger.
Gav.
Well the other day I web browsed for 10 minutes over UMTS, watched a TV show for 30 minutes, video called for 30 minutes, played games for 30 minutes and at the end of the day I still had 50% battery left.
Thats great!thank you!

Whoa, I can't agree that battery life is good because it depends which model you have and what software you use with it. I have a week old Cingular 8525 with Goodlink in a UMTS area and I get only 14 hours of battery life with low-moderate use of email alone. I turn it on at 6:45am each morning and power is down to 10-20% by 7-8pm and I've barely used the phone. Not great battery life compared to my 8125, which never died, even with heavy voice and Goodlink email usage.
I haven't traveled with my new 8525 yet but when I use it with heavy calling, I'm sure it wont get more than 12 hours, tops. I just bought a second battery because of this. I know battery life with Goodlink on the 8525 is a known issue, and is one of the reasons Cingular delayed its release, but it's REALLY BAD. I have a feeling Cingular is going to be getting more than a few 8525 returns because of poor battery life. If you use Goodlink on the 8525 you 100% need a second battery using the stock ROM.

i can concur that my 8525 has horrible battery life, i take mine off the charger around 9am, i dont really make calls, but do use pushmail, and some internet usage, mostly text and email, however mine is usually in need of a charge by 9pm when my low battery alert is coming on.. this is mostly in a UMTS area. My 8125 had far better battery life than this... oh the price we pay for speed
Exactly! That's why I bought an extra battery!
Love the 8525 speed, hate the battery life. I thought Goodlink was the problem, but it sounds like it just adds fuel to the bad battery problem.
If/when an updated rom from cingular comes out, I hope battery life will be the primary fix...
I think its the UMTS thats killing it.. i work in a UMTS area and thats where i see my biggest drain, when i am at home in a Edge area my drain is not nearly as huge, but still a bit more excessive than my 8125

Just my 2 cents: I too believe that searching for/acquiring/holding a UMTS signal might be the cause for such rapid decline in battery power. However, to be fair I must state that 1) I do not live in a UMTS area, but have read similar posts elsewhere 2) I'm a total WM5 newbie(came from a Treo 650 and Moto Razr 3)Am looking forward to travelling to a UMTS area(Texas for me, I live in Oklahoma) to find out if it's all true. Speed/battery drain, etc.
However: I must add, that just this morning. My battery went down to 30% after 3 days usage. No push email/Good, etc. Heavy text messaging, some browsing, and even one phone call that lasted 59 minutes, over speaker phone. Not to mention the other calls, an occasional game of solitaire or bubble breaker. This possible issue is probably why Cingular is looking to release a larger battery in the future, but for me(right now) mine is ok for where I live and what I use it for.
i use my hermes in tokyo umts area and have connection always on for my push mail. i receive around 60 emails, a bit of occasional web browsing and less than 20 minutes making/receiving calls a day. i only turn on wifi and bluetooth when i use them but that's not everyday. i tend to agree that the stock battery life is not good enough as it will go down to like 30% in about 12 hours in my case.
i know that umts and connection always on are draining the battery but that's how i want to use it. instead of carrying a spare battery, i decided to purchase Mugen's 3000mAh battery and have started using it from this morning. it's really good as it still shows 80% left even after using it for over 10 hours already since i tooked it off the charger this morning.

Hey! Are they available for sale now? Are they in stock? Can you please advise of the website that you used to purchase this battery from? I'm assuming that it comes with the back phone cover, correct? Thanks in advance.

yup, but it's only available from a japanese online store at the moment.

I don't believe they will ship to overseas though. just send them a note to confirm. it comes with the back phone cover if you mean it by the replacement battery cover. check it out your self at the site.
I'm only getting 8-10 hours on my TyTN. I'm going to be taking it back!

Hi Harry- could you post a link to a site to purchase the Mugen 3000mAh battery.
I was searching around and found a 1500mAh battery on Seidioonline (link below). I think I read somewhere (on this site) that advertised power and actual power are 2 very different things, but am encouraged that you are getting 10 hours and are still at 80%!

i'm still at 60% after running it for 25 hours without charging. i'll have to fully discharge it 3 times at least before achieving the stated capacity so i'll have to leave it uncharged for another day. what i'm seeing is definitely more than what i expected.
the link to the site from where i purchased it is pasted in my post above.

That 1500 mah battery at Seidio Online seems wonderful, but I couldn't find any references or review that comment on the following:
- If it is compatible with the Hermes (8525/TyTn/etc.)
- If it truly provide 11% more talk/standby time
- If charging it with original Hermes charger will damage the phone in anyway or just simply taking longer to charge.
If any of the above is OK, I'd buy it in a heartbeat and make the original 1360 MAH battery my 2nd battery.

it is compatible with hermes so you don't have to worry about its compatibility. i don't believe it will damage it with the original hermes charger as i have used it for sometime.
with that said, don't expect any significant difference as it has only 150mah advantage and i couldn't even recognize the difference. i don't think it is worth spending the money unless you just want to get a spare battery but just the stock battery is way cheaper for a spare. i recommend all to go for the 3000mah one from mugen if you need longer battery life.
so this weekend i am off work and live in a non 3G area.. and all i can say is what a difference there is in battery consumption.. my phone has been off the charger for almost 6 hours and have had moderate usage and i only just recently hit 90%.. now if i was working today i would have already been at the 50-60% range... For my device i can say that 3G kills my battery life... actually i think my battery life in an "edge only" area is very comparable if not better than my 8125.. but in a 3g area i would get better battery life if i just shorted out the contacts on my battery (newbs that was joke, *DO NOT* short out the contacts on your battery)
I have the Seidio battery. It fits but not as well as the original. The cover bows up slightly when it's installed. Performance is slightly better than the original.
Average business use, couple of hours of calls , some web browsing, push email on, about a day and a half with standard battery.
HTC644 Vario II
Hi, I been having the HTC Surround for a little over a week now. I love the look and feel to it (I know OS wise it has a lot of improvements to do but I'm willing to put up with it for a bit, considering its a new OS). However one thing I notice is that it has horrible battery life! The phone last about 10/12 Hrs on a full charge. During this time period, there is no heavy use; tops 50 txt messages send and received, about an hour of music, screen lock (brightness set to low, when on), perhaps 15 minutes of talk time, data connection turn off, about 20 minutes of WiFi (I turn off WiFi when not in use), rest of the time on stand by as mention before (with the screen locked). Another thing i noticed yesterday night was that my phone was charge completely, i left it on stand by and within 5 hrs that i slept the phone had gone a little lower than 3/4ths (data connection was off).
I read a post here that said battery may drain quicker when phone is left in cold weather and i thought maybe this could be the case. However I'm really skeptical because i live in Los Angeles. Cold weather, which is this time of the year, is mid 40 degrees at its lowest! That's not cold! But anyways i guess I'll try putting that theory on a test (imma try keeping it warm, see if it makes a difference)
so is anyone else experiencing horrible battery life? Or am I just an unlucky person who got a defective battery?
THANKS in advance

What "theme" are you using?
If I don't use my phone, it will last for days. Even when I use it through out the day, it lasts well into the next morning/afternoon.
The battery life does get better the more you drain/charge it.

well, I been having it for a week now. I seen no difference in battery life. But imma give it another week or so. See if this works. Then I'm gonna try buying different battery. If that doesn't help, I think I'm going to have to switch back to my Samsung Captivate. I would hate doing this, but this type of battery life is a deal breaker. Today, it was even worse! It lasted me only 9hrs while I was at work, which at least 8 of those hrs it was on stand by!
Sounds like you have a bad battery, bro. I'd get it replaced at the store you bought it from.

yeah, I'm going to try this on my day off which is on Monday. Also gives me time to test out the other persons suggestion
thanks for your opinions. I'll get back to you guys and see what happens.
My surround - now two weeks old is showing much improved battery life. It didn't make it through a day when I first got it. Part of that was due to my fiddling with it and part due - I think - to the battery conditioning.
Now, it is going a full day on a charge. I am also switching off 3G and on WiFi when I am in my office or home. It is a bit of a pain in the butt and I hope that M$ gives up some APIs soon so that someone - cough Bruce Jackson cough - will write an app. We'll see.
I have noticed that the Bluetooth drains the battery considerably faster. Try turning Bluetooth off when you don't need it.

I don't use the Bluetooth at all. So this can't be the problem. but thanks anyways. (I might need this information since I was planing on using one in the near future).
So I notice that now, my Surround does get better battery life. (which is absolutely crazy! since now I have the screen brightness on medium and data turn on lol). I guess the battery just needed to be use and charge a bit more. However, I still think battery life could be improved. (hopefully, future updates will teak some system settings that will do this)
I have also decided that I will keep my Surround instead of going back to my Captivate I wish battery life would be better and the OS to be more "open" but truth be told, I fell in love with my phone haha Then when i went back to my Samsung Captivate, it felt weird. Android felt much slower.
So i gave it a little test; I launched messaging, email, music, browser, etc on both phones at the same time. Turns out both of them launch these native applications in the same amount of time.
I guess what makes WP7 fell smother and faster is the (eyecandy) transitions.
think its the battery
ya i have had mine for 2 weeks now and i think the problem is the fact that the battery is a 1230mAh, and we also have a samsung focus with a 1450mAh battery that will last an exra 2-3 hours longer which makes a huge difference! im hoping htc will make a larger mAh battery avaliable, mine will only last anywhere from 5-7 hours from normal use
I just ordered a Mugen 1300mah battery..not *much* more capacity, but hopefully it helps a bit!
if i dont use my surround (like not using too much 3g, wifi, music, gaming, and just normal phone calls and texts) it can last a whole day and probably a lil more, but when i do too much 3g/wifi/gaming/music it drains quickkkkkk.
and i do hope htc will have a larger capacity battery for the surround soon... 1230 is kinda small compare to other phones nowadays..
but still this has much better battery life than my previous phones (diamond2 and touchpro)
i just find myself carrying the usb cable and wall charger alot in my bag :]
and having a car charger is a plus also.
My girlfreind has had the phone since xmas. Initially the battery would lose its charge very quickly. I had her do a bump charge and just let the battery settle in. She can now go up a third day wothout the need for a charge with moderate txt.
Be aware the quick drop whenn taking it off the charger is NORMAL. Read this thread for a discussion of that http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=871051

Agree - Bad Battery Life - But not as bad as some....
Smart phones, in general, aren't what I would call great at conserving battery life under any condition. Pick any model of high-end smart phone and tell me who can get more than 2 days (using every trick in the book to eliminate unnecessary drain). Yes, this phone is under-powered in terms of only having a 1300 mAh battery when it should have a 1400 or 1500.
Cut the unnecessary stuff when you are not using it - Bluetooth, WiFi, etc.
You can easily get a day + out of this phone with moderate/mixed use (some talking, some browsing, some multi-media viewing). That's pretty good, I'd say (from my relative experience across many different types of smart phones). I just plug it in every night.....pick it up in the morning and go. Haven't had any issues with it running out during the day.
Now, if you are starting first thing in the morning and running movies, have the bluetooth going, the WiFi on........well, heck yes, you are going to have a battery drain problem. If you want to run it that way.....just leave it plugged in.
Has anyone used a Seidio Innocell 1300mAh Replacement battery? Was wondering if it was worth the investment to improve the Surround's poor battery performance.
Thanks,
So...when is someone gonna step up to the plate and improve battery technology? It really sucks that these phone manufacturers are giving us ALL these fancy features that drain the battery and when we complain about having poor battery life they are telling us to not use all those fancy features...kinda defeats the purpose of buying a smartphone, am I right?
guys .. wake PLZ UP ))
1 ghz (1-2 core cpu ) ..
3.8 and more screen ..
DEDICATED GRAPHICS .
OS .
with DIRECTX9 Interface .
and that all spiced up with 1600 ma battery in best case .
and that you wana to run more then 6 hours on full load ? say THX TO MS .. for NON multitask os .. overwise battery life was even more lol then this

I noticed this as well. As time went by the battery actually started to last longer. When i first got it i used it less than i do now and the battery would die before i even got home for work. Now it lasts till about an hour or so after i finish and get home.
does the surround use the same battery as the HTC desire HD?
Theres an ebay seller that is selling a surround battery and wall charger but the wall charger has a sticker that says: For HTC Desire HD
So I bought a Venue Pro and I'm loving it! However, after a full charge, hours later in the battery info under settings the battery life falls very fast and says 2 hours left. Is there anyway to fix this? Thanks in advance!
I found out the answer myself. Unless you charge it from the computer it will not show you correct battery life or it doesn't charge properly. One of the two.
I thought I had solved it but no, it just charged slower and the battery I'd going equally fast. Can someone please give me a solution? Thanks
i think you simply have a bad battery.
DVP in general charges pretty fast, one hour on PC USB (500mA max) gets you a full charge.

hmm 1 hour on PC USB? Mine takes close to 3-4 hours for full charge. My battery lasts 1 day with moderate usage. So could it be that my DVP battery is bad too?
Either you have a bad battery, or maybe it's still being calibrated?
I bought a used DVP, and the battery on it lasts a whole day on moderate usage, and almost 2 days on light usage.

My battery takes 4 hours for full charge via PC and finishes to zero in 5 hours. I charged it 100% this morning, disconnected it, put it on lock screen and I've just come home and the battery has fallen to 42% even though it was on lock screen. I always keep my screen on low brightness. Will my battery calibrate in a week or do I have to buy a new battery?
Oh and I am a VERY light user. My phone isn't unlocked so I don't use cellular connection. I simply message my friends on WhatsApp and browse the web a little. Battery just fell 2% again.
The battery life is crap, thats basically it. Had several devices, none of them could last a day without basically no usage at all. Best to get used to charging it whenever you can or get a spare battery.
Hmm other users are saying theirs last almost 2 days with light usage and I don't even use cellular and it dies extremely fast! The battery life may suck but no device will kill a battery like my DVP is doing right now.If my battery is bad should I buy one of these and which one:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BATTERY-D...808?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2a0f77e3f0
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-O...340?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3f115330f4
Sadly none of those look legit, the second one has the incorrect wattage (actuall 1400mah) and the first one claims the battery will also fit the Venue, which I think is incorrect. Try contacting the sellers to confirm compatibility and if they will accept returns for a refund.
It comes with a 12 month warranty and and returns accepted if there is a fault. Even if it isn't original will it last and solve the problem I have?
If you can return it, buy it and test it. Only way to know if that will fix your problem. Only other thing I can think of is doing a hard reset and seeing how the device performs with few or no apps installed.
Hmm that seems like the only way. I've already messaged the seller asking him if his battery will fix it and then if it doesn't I will return it. By the way I don't think a hard reset would work as the device was doing this from the first time. Also I already did a hard reset once to change the SD card and it still goes as fast. Thanks for all your help guys.

DVP's battery life is not the best, but as a heavy user I can make 18-22 hours without charging (lot of phone calls, 20-40 incoming e-mails / 1 account, refresh every 15 minute/, no push), which is quite good (of course not a BB 9700 .
I messaged the seller and told him about my problem to which he replied the battery he's selling will fix it, if not I can return it. And 22 hours is quite good battery life. I charged my DVP 100% this morning and went to school. I had no cellular connection so I didn't make any calls or texts and had WiFi off with screen on lowest brightness. I played 5 minutes of movies, took 5 pictures and played 5 minutes of games. When I came home I was down to 30%. A mate of mine suggested I should let my battery die completely then charge it up and do it a few times and that fixes it as he has a blackberry 9900 and he had my problem when he had his phone brand new and after going what he told me for 4 days his battery works fine now. So ill try what my mate told me and if it doesn't work by Saturday I'll order my new battery.
Btw battery fell from 100% to 0% in 9 hours.

I bought my first DVP back in December 2010, exchanged it a few times before the wifi crashing bug was fixed, beta tested the fix for the crashing, and on none of those devices has the battery been able to last a day. That's been my experience, with normal usage.
So I always assumed the battery drain was a hardware or software issue, especially as my X10 would often shut down on 40% power and refuse to stay turned on unless the battery were taken out for 5 minutes.
Rather than buy a new phone I thought I'd try a new battery (I have had the phone since August 2010) - just £3 from ebay, and since then my battery life has been astounding - I'm quite a heavy user, but would almost run out after 8-9 hours despite keeping everything off and only switching on 3g and wifi when necessary. Now I can leave wifi and 3g on all day, leave the phone at medium brightness setting and still have 40% after a 15 hour day of medium-heavy usage.
I used to get idle drain of 1% every 10-15 mins as well (unless the phone was rebooted), but that seems to have disappeared as well.
So before you give up on it, do try a new battery, especially if you've had yours over a year. If there's no effect, you've lost £3 and still have a spare on hand.
Hello friend, could you please post the link where did you buy?
You think people on here throw their phone away because of battery drain, and it doesnt cross their minds to buy a new battery.....instead of buying a new phone.
I just hope your £3 battery doesnt damage your phone........or explode when youve got the phone in your pocket.......or during a call

Whats the size? i have a 1500mAh and a 2600mAh whats ur cpu settings also? looking for a good setup thanks in advance!
Also amazon link for 2600mAh btw its a big battery, and requires its own case which is rather bulky (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-Ericss...TIMS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1331594837&sr=8-1)
This is the 1500 i currently use, still getting the battery sorted with kernels ect

I would just like to confirm what OP wrote. Not only did my new battery (I got the 1800mah one from Mugen, $33) solve my battery drain, it also solved my mysterious reboots, lockups, and heat issues. My phone would regularly get up to 48 celcius, it would result in it automatically shutting off the charging. It was a pain in the butt when using GPS on long trips as I would have to have the AC run straight onto the phone just so it would still charge. It was like this from new. With the new battery it has not budged above 29 celcius with GPS navigation, 100% screen, bluetooth, music and sync all running at the same time, I am shocked!
In order to condition the battery I turned off the screen timeout ("No screen off" in the Market) so I could get it to drain to 5%, it lasts twice as long even with the screen on all the time then it did before I got the battery, feels like a new phone.
beware of cheap batteries
beware of counterfeit batteries. Ive read a bit about cheap batteries being inferior knock offs. You tube has several vids about how to tell the difference
I'm about to buy bigger battery for my x10i. Now I have original 1500 mAh. Do you, who already tested thease 2500 mAh bateries see the difference?

My phone starting doing the exact same thing... shutting down at around 40% so I order the Mugen 1800mAH battery as well. Should get it in a few weeks... I did see much cheaper batteries available but figured you get what you pay for, and the reviews on the Mugen batteries seem to be good so I spend the extra money for it. Looking forward to the extended battery life!
Hey guys
I've had my Sony Xperia Z3 for just over a year now and im considering my next phone purchase. I really enticed by purchasing a S6 Edge+ HOWEVER battery life is the only thing stopping me.
The Z3 battery life easily lasts for two days without me ever worrying about the battery life. I know Lollipop has a mobile radio bug in it which would effect the edge plus but im wondering would two days use ever be possible on the Edge+? I normally get around 6 hours SOT over two days with my Z3 and don't want to be let down too much with my next phone.
I have the same situation... just came from a Z3. Got my edge+ a week ago and, tbh, batt life is way worse, but I am starting to think that I have a faulty cellphone. I am getting around 10h of batt, even after debloating it and using Pixel OFF.
otoh, there are lots of threads running right now, discussing batt life and most people say that it is pretty good.
It's been 5 nights and I complsin it drains 1% per hour.

That´s exactly what I am getting. Are you using Pixel OFF?
Edit: sorry, wrong math. I am getting 10% an hour. I am getting 10h of batt per day on avg 1% an hour would be wonderland for me.
Hold on, I am talking about overnight drain, when phone is idle for 6 hours, screen off, only side clock, 4g wifi location sync on

Hmm so you basically only get a day's use of the phone on average?
It depends how I use it...
Can't tell as my usage is not regular
For sure not 10% per hour with a normal use
But I'm 90% debloated
i find it good, im not yet rooted but after i am whenever i can manage to actually do it i estimate it will be even better, but in general it's all about your usage, you'll definitely get a day out of medium/heavy usage.
do yourself a favor and buy a Aukey plus, ultra fast charging.

Not good

I also had Z3 and lasting morning to evening looks pretty much the same, on both i was getting around 5-6h SOT. But considering 2 days Z3 will also give around 5h+ SOT, but Edge+ idk maybe around 3-4h because of how much standby drains the battery.

I think the biggest idle killer is the mobile radio bug in lollipop, as there is no KK for the S6 Edge plus, looks like im going to stick with the Z3 for now till Marshmellow comes out.
I have more than 5 hours sot and almost 2 days without charging and 19% left. I''m very satisfied. Stock and root is pretty the same.
WhatsApp, candy crush, Internet, YouTube and more of that stuff. Imo no need to worry about battery.
2 days for me too. Wifi on all the time, Screen contrast automatic, Bluetouth off all the time (I don't use it for the moment), Some settings here and there I found in various articles (like smart network off, I use the RAM tools to automatically shot-down most of the apps...)
One day
One day ( 16 hours , By night battery down to 10 %)with normal usage. SOT around 5 hours.
BT off all time. 4g around 7 hours , Rest on Wifi.

Wow really? im shocked i havent read that was possible in any reviews i've seen. Could you provide screenshots of your battery stats? If two days is realistic and easy to achieve then i may possible jump to the Edge plus boat.
Mine wont even last 6 hours without draining. Bluetooth on, 4G on, backlight on auto. What's the point in having a high tech phone if you stunt it's features? I just charge at least twice or thrice a day but admittedly, I do miss the battery life of my last phone (iphone 6 plus) coz it really could last a whole day with the same features on.

the original charger isnt anywhere near as fast as charging as the Aukey is, even thge usb cable that came with the Aukey is better than the one that came with the phone.
I dont think i will ever see 2 days. I use Bluetooth all day (synced to my Gear S), GPS is always on, autobrightness, etc. I can get through one day for sure, maybe half of the next day, but thats about it. Thats not using any kind of powersaving modes either. Its as good, or better than my note 4 with NONE of the damn problems (camera and HORRIBLE GPS), so i'll take it. Plus i have quick chargers everywhere...home, car, and an extra one.
I was very nervous switching to a sealed battery and no SD card support, but the 64gb is fine and the battery charges SUPER f'in quick
