Prevent Dailymotion App from dimming screen - Shield Android TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey everyone, has anyone noticed that dailymotion (app and website) dims the screen when it's playing videos?
in the chrome website you can go out of fullscreen and move the mouse about and you get 5 more minutes of bright video but on the actual android app the moment you get out of the navigation overlay it dims again
I've been getting around this buy pumping the brightness up but i mean that's clearly not the solution. anyone have a solution?

Locking youtube screen orientation

When i watch videos on youtube while laying on my side, youtube automatically rotates the screen even when i use the lock on the notifications bar. How do i go about locking it without youtube messing with what it thinks is the right orientation?
Anyone?
Ultimate Rotation tool has the ability to change settings on an app by app basis. You could have Globally Force Rotate which will allow all screens to rotate and then go to YouTube, select App Only and set the mode to Landscape.
From that point on, when you enter YouTube, the screen will force to Landscape but everything else will still rotate (even the home screen).
NO Root needed... and it is not free, but you got $25 free bucks from Google to use for stuff like that.

There is a 7 day trial so you can see if it works for you. There may be other non-fee or lower cost apps that do the same thing as well... this just what I use.
When you are watching a video there is a toggle for landscape or portrait if you tap on the video

[Q] Youtube app, built-in auto-brightness?

while i was watching a video on Youtube on my Nexus 7, my connection was lagging so i paused the video to let it load, and the video had a bright white background while someone's in foreground talking. I noticed the brightness went down, and i freaked out thinking it might be my screen. But then i went back to the Android home menu, and i have a live wallpaper called "Rays of Light" which displays different colored lights moving on a dark/black background with little circles floating. I didn't noticed any brightness change, nor during browsing on websites, Google Play, or games...
Now i know Jelly Bean have auto-brightness enabled by default in the system settings, but i turned this off.
I do use MX Player as well, with the brightness set to go slightly up when watching a video, but i know i can turn this off (i just might, as i hate sudden brightness changes)
What i want to know is, does the Youtube app feature auto-brightness? and we just cannot disable it? I did noticed some brightness changes in other videos as well, like when watching a game preview.
For the record, i use Glazed Jelly Bean v2.1
thanks for your replies.

Stock Browser (with CM10.1) keep screen on option?

Is there a setting to keep the screen from dimming and going to sleep on the CM10.1 stock browser? It's the only browser that I can get a decent experience when using Channel 4OD streams, but the screen dimming is doing my head in. Even at 30mins max in display settings isn't enough for films/ 1 hr programmes.
same too.
Screen not keep on when play video with stock browser
no download a screen-on toggle app.

Nexus 4 video rotation problem

Hi
So I've noticed that when recording a video vertically and then turn it horizontally (or the other way around), in the play back it doesn't actually rotate the video and you have to rotate the screen to watch it.
Question is. Is there any way to fix the play back so u won't have to rotate the phone it self or any app to do that ?

Videos not playing full screen

It seems videos are not being played full screen on apps such as Netflix and VLC. The screen doesn't stretch past the status bar. Which is a waste of screen real estate.
It seems only YouTube can play videos full screen.

Anyone knows if there is a fix for this?

I don't think that ever worked. YouTube is the only app I could stretch fullscreen with my Pixel 3 XL too. I think it's up to the app creators to enable this.
Follow this:
- open up settings
- choose display
- full screen apps
- scroll to the youtube app and touch the youtube app and change it from auto to full
- play video and pinch to zoom
Please hit the thumbs up bottom if this works ??.
Yeah I fixed it by going to Settings -> Display -> Fullscreen Apps -> change Netflix from Auto to Full
Thanks for this. This was driving my crazy (Plex) and I'm used to seeing it full screen on my XS Max.
